These do a good job of protection for your kitchen cleavers. A folding-over and locking option might be safer, as these guards have the blade slip into the sheath. The guards are quite stiff when new and require a bit of pressure to insert the blade. If your hand slipped when pushing the blade in, you might seriously hurt yourself. Other than that, it's a great product.

The media could not be loaded. I was disappointed that my cleaver did not come with protection. This knife shield fits perfectly. It keeps the blade sharp and prevents accidents. Five stars. (Gave the other guard to a friend who also needed one. Same cleaver. She loves it)

Needed a knife guard after discovering my new Tuo Black Hawk-S Nakiri wouldn’t fit in my wood block (the greatest width is 2.25”, not 2” like my JA Henkels blocks). Both black and white (translucent white) versions fit the knife perfectly. The guard feels robust to last many years in my drawer.

I recently acquired a beautiful Chinese-style cleaver, sharp as a razor right out of the box, with a 7 x 3½” blade. I could wax rhapsodic about it, but this review is about the sheath. Needless to say, a knife that beautifully made deserves protection. Unfortunately, I don’t have a block with a slot that size, nor will it fit in my rollup sheath. I was a bit worried that the 7x3½ dimension in the pic was the outside of the sheath, not the inside, but no, it fits the cleaver like a glove. The knife maker, Tojiro, should include this with the product. The price is quite fair, as you get two sheaths. I only need one, but I might buy one of these knives for a friend so the extra doesn’t go to waste.
