Ok - I typically never write reviews but I felt that this one was warranted. If you're reading this, you may be looking at the low price coupled with some of the negative reviews, and thinking about passing on this item. Read this first - my experiences with this guy might be helpful. First - my pool is an old 20x40 vinyl lined, sand bottom pool. It's literally got nothing but sharp corners and angles that eat pool vacuums for breakfast, or any other time it's hungry. It's surrounded by trees, big trees. This pool is where vacuums go to die. That said - this is a 4 star review solely because there is nothing helpful included with the vac to explain WHY it might not be working. So here we go: 1) Hose, weight, return management: Line one - don't use all the included hose sections if you have old ones! The "heavy duty" hose is cool in theory, but its weight and relative inflexibility caused movement issues for me. My pool is 9' deep, and I found that using only two sections of the aqua hose was sufficient - but use them! This machine is designed to work with that weight, but the sections that always sit at the surface should be replaced with something lighter and more flexible. This vacuum works by "hopping" with the motion and weight of the flapper inside, and without a separate power source, it can have trouble consistently fighting the hose, especially on walls. Weights- I found the third yellow weight to be unneeded, and it's been on my table out here for months. I put the first weight right on the end of the vac, and the second one mid way through the second section of hose. That's it, just check on it because it will slide down due to vibration. Returns- for the love of God, don't point your returns up at the surface while using this! The current will catch the hose like a sail and you'll never get good coverage. Just point them down a little. 2) Things get stuck in it! So this guy has already munched away hundreds of leaves. Does it occasionally get caught? Yep, but the easy fix for me (aided by the fact that I have wall suction right next to returns) is to pull it off suction, put it in front of the return until you see it jump off the floor, and put it right back on suction. So far, has gone right back to putting instantly. 3) It sucks! It just sits there or doesn't climb the walls! Well guess what - I would bet you my pool that it's your filter/pump, and not this vacuum. My pool laughs at vacuums with its angles, bumpy surfaces, and other assorted pitfalls - kind of how you caught at the cat trying to catch a laser pointer dot. This vac laughs at the pool trying to stop it. BUT WHY? You need great flow and heavy suction. I think that might even be a movie title. I have one skimmer operating, the other half is the vacuum on wall. That's it, the second skimmer stays off. I DO NOT use that regulator pipe they gave me. I'm not even sure where it is. But here is the rub - even with a 1hp pump, if my FILTER is not clean, the vacuum will not, I repeat, WILL NOT WORK. As another reviewer said, "it just sits there in the deep end and sucks." No. You suck at maintaining your pool! This vacuum even tells you, if you listen. On a recently backwashed or clean filter, the vac goes "rata-tat-tat-tat" in very fast succession - multiple times per second. The vacuum cruises fast and powers through everything. As the filter fills up, and water flow slows down, the frequency decreases and the vacuum starts to suck, figuratively. But not anymore literally. I need to backwash my filter EVERY WEEK to maintain efficiency. I was doing it less frequently until this vacuum showed me the light. CHECK YOUR FILTER! It's 90% more likely that is causing any issue than the vacuum itself - barring broken parts or defect, obviously. So look - I almost bought a vacuum twice as expensive than the paltry $90 I paid for this one, which has already paid for itself in time saved, how awesome the pool looks, and lower maintenance elsewhere. I'm glad a review swayed me to give it a shot, because it's been fantastic. Remember, be smarter than the machine you're using and find the root of the problem! Great product. ... show more

The product is working great. Cleaned my pool very well, after I experimented with it. 1) The flat circular plastic can came off, if handling it and bumping it against the hose, ... . Inspect and put it back in place after handling the vacuum. 2) The blue plastic hoses are sturdy, but not that flexible. For the vacuum to move around all over, I used 4 of my old (more-flexible) hoses at the vacuum end. 3) I ended up putting only 1 weight ring at the very last hose, right next to the vacuum. With the above considerations, I am happy with the product. The only reason for not giving a 5 is for a new buyer who may not have existing (more-flexible) hose. ... show more

First off the best thing you can do if you buy this is to watch the utube video on how to put it together. Yep, you do have to put it together. I will say that once I put the product together and got it in the pool it works GREAT. So far so good with using it. But please save yourself and go to utube.com for Xtremepower US and WATCH directions on how to put it together or you will probably will return it out of frustration. I do believe the utube video is actually done by the real company that makes this pool cleaner. And not just a consumer. The directions on utube do not match the directions on the paperwork that are enclosed with this cleaner. Or at least not at all the same step by step. The paper directions don’t list what comes in the box. They also start in a way that makes it difficult to follow along. No step by step, just a blurry picture that makes zero sense since you don’t have a reference point to begin with. Then there is a paragraph that kind of talks about putting it together, but doesn’t help. Xtremepower US should be embarrassed for enclosing the worst directions with a product that I’ve ever seen. The directions are in English and yet they do not list what comes in the box, they do not list the step by step way to put it together. And if you can follow the written directions you will find that they have you try and put it together in the worst way. Although the video isn’t super simple it’s better then the paper directions. Plus it could be much better. But at least by watching it you will know if you have all the parts that come with the product. And although I’ve seen better videos out there by someone not affiliated with the company, just a regular consumer-it’s still a hundred times better than the paper directions. Now the good part-once I had it put together and working I can say I like it better then the Pentair Kreepy that it looks like. My Pentair Kreepy stopped working 3 years after getting it. It fell apart. So I decided to try this cheaper version. I was really pleasantly surprised at how quickly it cleaned up my pool. I hadn’t had a pool cleaner working in the pool for a week. With the onset to fall there were a fair amount of leaves and stuff on the bottom of the pool too. This little cleaner had my in ground pool cleaned up, all the leaves etc in no time flat. I honestly had the biggest smile on my face when I saw what a great job it did in record time. I’ve had a pool for about 25 years. And from day one I’ve always had a Pentair Kreepy. I love that they clean the sides really well without falling off, and don’t get stuck in places(too much if you have the hose correct)It’s not great on some stairs but that’s not bad. No pool cleaner is perfect. Anyway, for the money this Kreepy is great. The other higher priced Kreepy’s don’t last long. And since I’ve never had any other type of pool cleaner then the more expensive Kreepy, I don’t know if that’s normal or not. After saying all that, this pool cleaner is equal or better then the more expensive versions I’ve been buying. Plus with the mark down price(probably due to having the worst directions on putting it together)makes it worth trying. I’m really happy so far with this pool cleaner, now that I was able to follow the utube video and get it in the pool doing its job. I would recommend buying it. Easy to set up and does the job it is supposed to do. I have an old diving pool so it is 10 ft. plus deep at the drain, so the cleaner likes to stay in the deep end, when it does occasionally venture to the shallow end it doesn't get stuck on the steps like the 4 other kinds of cleaners I have had over the years. I did give it a four star rating rather than five because it really doesn't clean the shallow end of my pool and the weights provided do not stay in place, they slide up and down the hose depending on which section of hose they are on and there is no point in putting them back in place because they move with every cleaning. Other than that, so far I like this cleaner. Time will tell, I have only been using it for a couple of weeks now. ... show more
