Special functions include ABS bleeding, oil status reset, electronic park brake maintenance mode for brake jobs, battery registration, and injector coding, as well as the ability to program certain key fobs. However, these functions are vehicle-specific, so it is recommended to confirm compatibility with the manufacturer before purchasing if you have a particular use case in mind. I couldn’t be happier with the XTOOL D7S. The scanner was easy to set up, the interface is intuitive, and it has already paid for itself by helping me avoid trips to the dealership. I purchased it primarily for my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, and it has performed flawlessly. It was able to access all major modules, perform bidirectional tests, and most importantly put the electronic parking brake into service mode for brake maintenance. It also provides maintenance resets, parking brake functions, and detailed system scans. It also worked great on my wife's 2019 Nissan Altima! The speed of the scans and the amount of information available are impressive for a tool in this price range. Whether you’re diagnosing a warning light, checking module data, performing service functions, or running active tests, the D7S handles it with ease. What really stood out was XTOOL’s customer service. Questions were answered quickly and professionally, and it’s reassuring to know support is available when needed. If you’re a DIYer or someone who wants professional-level diagnostic capabilities without spending thousands of dollars, I highly recommend the XTOOL D7S. This review will delve deeply into the performance of this scan tool, so check back as I embark on this journey with it. I received the order overnight and was eager to unveil this device. Upon opening both the Amazon package and the manufacturer's box, it immediately impressed with its screaming quality. It's worth mentioning that as a DIY enthusiast, I've invested in scan tools ranging from $40 to $200. However, none even in the $200-$300 range even come close to matching the quality of this one including the carrying case. I own a 2000 BMW Z3 2.8 and a 2021 Lexus L5500. So the date range of vehicles will also be interesting to see if this tool covers that range. Check back as I continue the review..... Well the operation is not as good as the outward quality. I couldn't read the BMW VIN and constantly gave me the error message that the unit was not communicating. On the Lexus it did do an auto scan but when I went into the manual scan of the BMS it again gave me the "no communications" error message. Emailed the vendor 3 times and got a message back that they don't work weekends and US working hours. It seems the help center is in China and not US-based. So if you're in a regular-hours job here and you need tech support your out of luck. Sending it back and looking at an Autel unit.

I've had this scanner for a couple of months. My 2011 Avalanche wouldn't start so I put my older scanner on it and ordered some parts. I put in a new fuse/relay not it, a new pcm and tried the 30 minute key learn, turns over but fuel pump doesn't run. Put in a new fuel pump control module, not it. Studied some more and found out in 2011 GM changed the theft prevention to control both the starter and the fuel pump and the 30 minute key learn procedure doesn't work. So, I ordered the D7S. When it came the key learn program for my truck wasn't installed yet. About a week later it was installed in an update. It didn't work and today I found out it might not have worked because there is an eeprom adapter and cables that I might need. Has to do with the GM security codes for their keys. I'm going to get those and try again. I get 3 to 6 updates every 2 or 3 days for this. The sellor offered to refund my money but this scanner does so much for so many different vehicles I'm keeping it and hope to get it to work on my truck.

I’ve had a cheap dongle style code reader for years but needed something more capable. I’d heard good things about the D7S but had no idea of the possibilities it would open up. More granular detail and two way communications are a game changer when troubleshooting problems and they are constantly updating it to keep things current. Perhaps the best part is the ability to program smart keys! I’ve bought two wranglers that had only one key, two kids loose keys, and a couple of friends needing keys as a bonus. That capability alone has paid for the tool several times over. Can’t recommend enough.

The XTOOL D7S OBD2 scanner is hands down one of the best investments you can make. It’s powerful and a reliable diagnostic tool. This car scanner has quickly become one of my favorite devices in my professional workflow. It’s fantastic to DIY as well due to its ease of use and user-friendly interface. The build quality is absolutely amazing—it feels rugged, well-made, and designed for real shop use. The automotive scanner has a stand that holds it upright, which is great during use and tucks away flush. The carrying case is strong, well-padded, and keeps everything protected and organized. As a bidirectional scan tool, it offers an impressive range of controls and active tests. I’ve used it successfully to reset oil service lights, place the rear parking brake into service mode, and perform a wide variety of functional tests across many vehicle brands and models. Programming new keys and TPMS sensors is very straightforward, which saves a lot of time compared to other tools I’ve used. This auto scanner for car diagnostics scanner is also very easy to keep updated—the firmware updates are simple and quick to install. also vehicle brands/model-based firmware updates are a game-changer. The Xtool OBD2 scanner paid for itself the first time i used it on my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had received a Check engine light and the car seemed to be running fine, but the check engine lite stayed on. I first took the Xtool OBD2 scanner made sure it had the latest updates (the 3 years of free updates is a money saver). I plugged in the scanner to the Jeep and ran all the tests. The tool found that my Evap Pump Was faulty thru the Code it gave me. i called around to different dealers to ask what they would charge to change the Evap pump. The dealer cost was $495+ parts ($75). As i'm a Diy mechanic, I was able to buy the part for $22 and install it myself. With this fix the Xtool OBD2 scanner paid for itself with detecting one issue. The OBD2 scanner have so many brilliant features and it's processor is so fast you will not be wasting your time waiting on the tool to go thru the systems. you can tell it to do a full scan or you can select more targeted systems you want to scan. The create a key feature is a bonus for this Tool. This function will pay for itself after 1 or 2 uses. (just send an email to Xtool to make sure that the tool is compatible with your car to program the Key Fob) not all cars are compatible. I have also used this tool on my VW Passat. i ran a full test and the tool picked up that i had a faulty Passenger door window switch. The switch was still working, but the light bulb had gone out inside the switch. This was another quick fix and the part was 80% cheaper too buy outside of the dealer. I recommend this tool for anyone. The Xtool OBD2 scanner has paid for itself. You can't beat the price especially when they give you 3 years of free updates for free. you will be amazed with the speed and user friendly interface. There are many other manufactures out there with their fancy tools, but Xtool Will give them a run for their money both in performance and Price.
