I had been chasing codes on my 01 Grand Prix for weeks. Having narrowed a scanner from a friend and having to return it I purchased this for myself. Xtool is a trusted brand for the price they’re rope tier. It functions as well as the high dollar scanner I had borrowed. It shows you the voltage you’re getting from the battery on the unit itself . It’s very convenient to be able to link it to your phone so you don’t have a big bulky scanner you’re carrying around. Being able to read everything right on your phone screen makes it nice and convenient. This scanner pointed me in the right direction to get my car running again as where the more expensive one didn’t bring up the codes that this one did! The car that’s been sitting is running again! Looking forward to being able to change out the actuators in my Malibu and use the bidirectional control to reprogram them. This is a great product and you can not beat the price! Highly recommend this!

I’m extremely satisfied with the XTOOL Anyscan A30M. I used it on my 2011 Chevy Cruze, and it connected right away without any issues. Setup was simple, the connection to my phone was fast, and the app interface is very easy to use. I originally expected it to just be a decent scan tool, but it ended up doing way more than I thought it would. It can access and control a lot more systems than I expected. Some of the things it can do honestly caught me off guard — stuff I didn’t even realize a tool like this could do (I’m not even gonna get into all that here… lol). For the price, the capability is pretty insane. It feels like one of those tools where you keep discovering more features the more you use it. Overall: outstanding tool, great value, and way more powerful than I expected. Definitely recommend it.

The media could not be loaded. OK the first thing to know is that this device is a companion to your cell phone, it uses the display on your phone for all the readings and commands. Second thing to know is that it does not come with any printed instructions at all, but there are QR codes on the side of the box – so don’t throw out the box! Physically it is very similar to countless other OBDII plug-n-play testers, most of them connected to the Torque app on your phone. But – these other devices are read-only, while this is bidirectional, meaning you can send commands to the various control modules in your car. And it is much heavier! I don’t know what they have built into it but it’s three times heavier than those cheap generic tester plugs. Another thing, it comes with a very nice heavy-duty cable maybe nineteen inches long, so you can plug that into the vehicle and have the actual OBDII device more convenient to you for reading its status lights. Saves my knees from squatting under the dashboard! And, there is a small display screen on the actual device to show you your operating voltage, typically meaning your battery roughly 12.7VDC. Another critical thing to know is that it comes with FREE lifetime software updates, and this is very important because many of the professional scanners require annual fees for updates. Yes, there are extra features that have a fee, but for the vast majority of users you will never need those bonus features. Once you plug it in you have choices on which direction you want to go. A simple display using Auto diagnostics will tell you what is stored in the car computer, items like error codes, operating parameters i.e. engine temperature, trans temp, manifold pressure etc. And here is where you can save some real money…So say you have a CEL (check engine light) showing on your dashboard. You can go to the dealer to tell you what is means – and pay upwards of $100+ - or you can use this device for the information. And you can also clear the code using this device, very important if you want to perhaps sell the car, you’ve cleared the cause of the CEL, and you don’t want to go through fifty Start/Stop cycles for the onboard computer to clear the trouble light. Or, instead of the Auto diagnostics, you might want to go directly to bidirectional functions. Select that on your phone and it will find the VIN of your car, and give you access to the control modules where you can actually send operating commands. Very handy! Just had your tires rotated and need to get the proper TPMS coordinated on your dashboard? This does that. Just changed your oil and need to reset the oil life indicator? This does that – and much more. You can test and operate so many vehicle features such as power windows, fuel injector functions, O2 sensors etc. If you are a professional shop you’ll want one or two of these because it will save you time and money when one mechanic is using the big professional scanner, another mechanic can be productive using this lower cost item. If you’re a home shade-tree mechanic you will want this in you car at all times to give you information on things that might happen while driving, as well as doing dealer-level work once you get back home. I love that equipment like this is now available at the consumer level!
