I just got the A30M kit in. Dongle, case, little manuals, and that flat OBD extension cable so you’re not fighting the port under the dash. Plugged it into my 2014 Cruze, paired the phone, and went straight after the AC instead of guessing. That’s what I needed. This Cruze has been one of those “is it the clutch, the fan, the blend door, or just low on charge” cars. Generic code readers don’t help much with HVAC. This one got into the system, pulled what was there, and let me run live data and active tests instead of sitting there hoping the compressor kicks on. The little screen on the dongle showing voltage is a nice touch. I use that more than I thought I would when I’m chasing electrical stuff. Bluetooth stayed connected while I was around the car. App on the phone is simple enough — pick the vehicle, scan, look at HVAC, command the clutch and related outputs. That’s the difference between “maybe I need a compressor” and “I can see whether the module is even asking for it.” Kit is compact. Case is decent. Not a shop tablet, not doing coding or programming, and special functions still depend on the car. For what I paid and what I needed on this Cruze, it did the job without drama. Lifetime updates with no subscription is a big reason I’d keep using it on the other cars too. If you’re working on your own stuff and tired of paying a shop just to tell you what you already suspected, this one earned its spot in the bag. On my Cruze AC it got me answers fast.

I ordered this scanner because of its claims to do lots of systems and also bi directional special functions. I am extremely impressed with how it performs for the price giving you many features unheard of in this bracket. I originally purchased to do transmission relearn on my 2019 Kia soul which I reached out to the company via email first to confirm that it was capable and they responded promptly and confirmed that it would work. I can confirm the relearn did work. I also took this scanner to the auction and was able to use it on the following brand Lincoln, Lexus, Nissan, Volvo, Toyota. I am very impressed with how versed this tool is. Overall 10/10 came quickly and met/exceeded all expectations. One of my favorite features being the report showing all the codes present on the vehicle. Being able to email this to myself/clients is great. Makes saving everything and presenting it extremely clear. PID's on the scanner work amazing as well was able to diagnose faulty a/c compressor using the scanner.

This tool does allot. It's live data section needs improvement and navigation changes a little depending on what vehicle I'm plugged into and makes me feel like I never get used to the tool. But you can save reports. Run most live data. And check/clear codes. Best thing for me is it has a search bar in your codes so it will take you right into the web with all the information you need. Pair that capability with googles AI assistant and it will shorten your web search dramatically.

I recently picked up the XTOOL Anyscan A30M OBD2 Scanner Kit, and I’m really impressed for what it is—a compact, Bluetooth-enabled tool that pairs with your phone app. First off, I love the thoughtful design touches. It comes with a protective heart-shaped cover (or heart cover), which is cute and actually useful for keeping the dongle safe when tossing it in the toolbox. Plus, it has a built-in flashlight—just press the button, and you’ve got a handy light for peeking into dark engine bays or under the dash. That’s a feature you don’t see on most budget scanners, and it’s super practical. The app itself looks clean and modern, and it’s very easy to use. Setup was straightforward: plug the scanner into the OBD2 port, connect via Bluetooth on my phone, and it found my car quickly without any hassle. I was able to scan all the modules right away—full system diagnostics worked great. I had a few fault codes pop up, and clearing them was simple and effective. No issues reconnecting or navigating the interface. Overall, it’s a solid performer for DIYers. The wireless setup makes it convenient, the app is user-friendly, and those extra little features (like the flashlight and cover) make it stand out. OK the first thing to know is that this device is a companion to your cell phone, it uses the display on your phone for all the readings and commands. Second thing to know is that it does not come with any printed instructions at all, but there are QR codes on the side of the box – so don’t throw out the box! Physically it is very similar to countless other OBDII plug-n-play testers, most of them connected to the Torque app on your phone. But – these other devices are read-only, while this is bidirectional, meaning you can send commands to the various control modules in your car. And it is much heavier! I don’t know what they have built into it but it’s three times heavier than those cheap generic tester plugs. Another thing, it comes with a very nice heavy-duty cable maybe nineteen inches long, so you can plug that into the vehicle and have the actual OBDII device more convenient to you for reading its status lights. Saves my knees from squatting under the dashboard! And, there is a small display screen on the actual device to show you your operating voltage, typically meaning your battery roughly 12.7VDC. Another critical thing to know is that it comes with FREE lifetime software updates, and this is very important because many of the professional scanners require annual fees for updates. Yes, there are extra features that have a fee, but for the vast majority of users you will never need those bonus features. Once you plug it in you have choices on which direction you want to go. A simple display using Auto diagnostics will tell you what is stored in the car computer, items like error codes, operating parameters i.e. engine temperature, trans temp, manifold pressure etc. And here is where you can save some real money…So say you have a CEL (check engine light) showing on your dashboard. You can go to the dealer to tell you what is means – and pay upwards of $100+ - or you can use this device for the information. And you can also clear the code using this device, very important if you want to perhaps sell the car, you’ve cleared the cause of the CEL, and you don’t want to go through fifty Start/Stop cycles for the onboard computer to clear the trouble light. Or, instead of the Auto diagnostics, you might want to go directly to bidirectional functions. Select that on your phone and it will find the VIN of your car, and give you access to the control modules where you can actually send operating commands. Very handy! Just had your tires rotated and need to get the proper TPMS coordinated on your dashboard? This does that. Just changed your oil and need to reset the oil life indicator? This does that – and much more. You can test and operate so many vehicle features such as power windows, fuel injector functions, O2 sensors etc. If you are a professional shop you’ll want one or two of these because it will save you time and money when one mechanic is using the big professional scanner, another mechanic can be productive using this lower cost item. If you’re a home shade-tree mechanic you will want this in you car at all times to give you information on things that might happen while driving, as well as doing dealer-level work once you get back home. I love that equipment like this is now available at the consumer level!

I had been chasing codes on my 01 Grand Prix for weeks. Having narrowed a scanner from a friend and having to return it I purchased this for myself. Xtool is a trusted brand for the price they’re rope tier. It functions as well as the high dollar scanner I had borrowed. It shows you the voltage you’re getting from the battery on the unit itself . It’s very convenient to be able to link it to your phone so you don’t have a big bulky scanner you’re carrying around. Being able to read everything right on your phone screen makes it nice and convenient. This scanner pointed me in the right direction to get my car running again as where the more expensive one didn’t bring up the codes that this one did! The car that’s been sitting is running again! Looking forward to being able to change out the actuators in my Malibu and use the bidirectional control to reprogram them. This is a great product and you can not beat the price! Highly recommend this!

I’m extremely satisfied with the XTOOL Anyscan A30M. I used it on my 2011 Chevy Cruze, and it connected right away without any issues. Setup was simple, the connection to my phone was fast, and the app interface is very easy to use. I originally expected it to just be a decent scan tool, but it ended up doing way more than I thought it would. It can access and control a lot more systems than I expected. Some of the things it can do honestly caught me off guard — stuff I didn’t even realize a tool like this could do (I’m not even gonna get into all that here… lol). For the price, the capability is pretty insane. It feels like one of those tools where you keep discovering more features the more you use it. Overall: outstanding tool, great value, and way more powerful than I expected. Definitely recommend it.
