I've been using this aquarium filter for a month or so now, and I'm overall very impressed with its performance. It does an incredible job of keeping my tank clean and clear. The water flow is strong and consistent, and the filter effectively removes most traces of debris and waste. One of the things I like most about this filter is its affordability. It's one of the cheapest filters I've found, and it performs just as well as more expensive models (in my opinion). However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks that I've noticed. First, the filter can be a bit of a pain to clean. The filter cartridges are a bit fiddly to remove and replace, and they get clogged up quickly with debris. This means that I have to clean the filter more often than I'd like. Second, the filter can be a bit noisy. The motor makes a humming sound that can be noticeable, especially in a quiet room. However, I've found that the noise doesn't bother me too much, and it's a small price to pay for such effective filtration. Overall, I'm very happy with this aquarium filter. It's a great value for the price, and it does an incredible job of keeping my tank clean. The media could not be loaded. I did a bunch of research on other filters before buying this XpertMatic aquarium filter and decided on this one for a few reasons, the price is great, and because you can buy a reusable filter cartridge which in turn helps the environment! This aquarium filter is detachable. You can use 1-3 filter boxes according to the height of the aquarium. Besides, with a submerged motor, it is easy to set up. Also is very easy to assemble and to disassemble, it can be use horizontal or vertical, we put it inside our fountain in vertical position so we are able to use all 3 filter boxes since our fountain holds about 197 water gallons. This filter is silent so it can be use inside and even in a bedroom, well we use this filter in our courtyard fountain. The oxygen level has risen so much even knowing this is outside my fish were instantly more active. Nice water flow and reliable. Filters are easy to clean. We cannot be happier with the results our fountain just to look like a swamp all green and couldn't see the fishes, we are using this filter for a little over a month now and look at my video now the water is clean you can see the fishes swimming around and even the leaves in the bottom. This filter is good for aquariums, ponds or fountains that holds up-to 264 water gallons. Highly recommended and very happy with my purchase ... show more

I have this in my 40 gallon cichlid tank, it works great, cleans great, but I really wish you could adjust how hard it flows. It pushes ALOT of water. I would highly recommend only putting this in a tank with strong swimmers or somthing like a 55 gallon or bigger.

Whatever size you think you need, go at least 1 size smaller; yes, it is that powerful!. No sound from the motor, while i'm moderately hearing-impaired, the only sound I hear is from the water stream/air bubbles; a sort of white noise. Very efficient filter, unobtrusive in the corner of the tank. I've not had to clean it yet, but it was easy enough to assemble the components (I chose the 3-stage version, though 2 would have been enough) so with a bit of practice, cleaning will likely be easy enough. ... show more

The first month I had this product it worked amazingly! Right on time with my monthly change , I did my change and cleaned filter as told in post. the 2nd month it did not last a whole month , about 3 week, now on my 3d month it does not even keep my tank clean for a week ! I am now reaching out for help from seller to see what needs to be done. Having green water after a week. With clean filters and a pump that pushes alot of water through, makes no since at all??? Seller please help ??? (Photo) I just cleaned the filter and put back in the tank 48hours ago, and my water is green ! As you can see I have even tried to add bio balls and large carbon , with filter . Update 6/1 ... I have tried everything with this filter , washing and using the same filters it came with, buying new filters that the seller recommended, tried filling it with carbon and bio balls and nothing works , !!! This is a piece of crap!! Do not waster your money!!! Does not even keep my tank clean for 2 days!!! Absolutely horrible waster of money !!! ... show more

    • Great filter but with some quirks.

I only give this three stars because the plastic material used in making the 3 filter holders is virtually ridiculous and causes me stress. It’s so thin and flimsy that if it’s touched they all come apart. If you don’t plan on touching it or have large fish that will bump into it you’ll be fine. It works great and is very powerful. I changed out the filter media in two of the containers. But I have a pleco who bumps it and every single time it falls apart and the compartments separate. I then have to go in the tank to put them back together. Then the plastic is so thin and goofy that I can’t put it back together under water so I have to turn the filter off to pull it out and then reconnect the 3 compartments. I ended up taping all 3 together with thick boxing tape so I didn’t have to worry. But now each time I want to change or clean the media compartments I have to untape and retape. I suppose I could screw them all together but either way I have to still take it out of the water and shut it off to service it which is why I give it 3 stars. If you have small fish, and no pleco, you’ll be just fine. Personally I think they just need to use better quality thicker sturdier better snap together plastic. But for the cost, it’s a good buy and I didn’t return it. ... show more
