  • Correcting misinformation
I had to give this product a personal review because of what I believe is misinformation going around about this product that I wanted to address. This console and the Assassins Creed Origins game is the best combination of gaming system and Role Playing Game(RPG) that I have ever played in 30 years. I am an intense fan of Ancient Egypt and this game takes you there in 4k brilliance. There must be at least 400 separate missions in this game, although only 6 are actually required to finish it. But, you kind of have to complete some side missions to level up player strength to finish the main story. There are about 127 main game missions, with only about 6 of them being required, the rest are side missions, with an extra bunch of miscellaneous missions in the Ancient Egypt World. One mission has like 20 parts to it, and another about 11 parts. Most missions though are one part missions, that might actually go from part a to part d. So, there is a lot to do in this game. This RPG world is absolutely huge too. You can ride around on camels or horses, and upgrade your "Medjay" skills to make yourself a lethal foe. The weapons and skills are awesome. It would take you a very long time to ride around the whole Ancient Egypt world in this game. Luckily, there are shortcuts that allow you to get from one town to another quickly. The player control skills are so much fun, and this console is perfect for the fast demands of this game. The game rarely freezes or can't keep up, even in the most intense battles, where I find myself battling 15 to 30 people at once. If it does freeze, I do what I learned on my PC. I stop moving and I let the game catch up to me. I learned that if you don't do this, the game might lock up, forcing a reboot. I don't remember ever having to do a reboot, but I have had to stop moving. When the game freezes, don't keep pressing buttons, because you might just lock it up. It's funny because its like it freezes in the Animus, which I guess it what they call the virtual world which has taken us to Ancient Egypt. There is a whole, long story to this game. It is a family story of love and revenge. The story is set around the time of Cleopatra and Julius Caesar. I won't go into it too much to avoid spoilers. I actually saw the movie Cleopatra again, with Elizabeth Taylor, after playing this game. The game lets you know that you are a Medjay protector, and you will die if you try to go around killing all the people you are suppose to be protecting. You can probably see why I think this is such an awesome game. I have finished it and all the missions. The outfits themselves are awesome. You can get a mummy Uniform, a Pharoah Uniform, a Scarab Uniform, and many, many more and all sorts of glowing Uniforms and shields. You can even win a Unicorn mount during the game play. All of this can be purchased with in-game money that you have looted, or if you are impatient, you can go to the online store and pay real money to get stuff right away. Now, I will get to the real reasons for my review. There is a lot of bad information going around that I would like to address. There might be a problem with a slight error on the box. I may have noticed it myself. So, I checked my hard drive size, in the setup information/details, and it said that I had 800GB-1TB of space, so I knew that I had the right console. The Operating System can be quite large, and gaming files will also take up space. But, I was nowhere near 500GB that might show on some console boxes. There may have been an slight error on the label that stamped the boxes at one time. But, a little tiny box error that had no effect on anything that I saw, did not warrant even a one star removal from my 5 star rating, nor do I believe it warrants a one star rating for this entire product. Also, it might require an adult or someone with reasonable computer experience to setup this console. You do need to be online to set it up. But, nothing else is required to play the game. The package comes with the game codes. There are online game trials that are offered in this bundle, but you don't need them to play the games you purchased in this bundle. Most people know that you don't have to sign up for every trial that is offered when you install software from a program or game that you purchased. So, to give this awesome product a one star because someone didn't know that, I believe is wrong and misinformation, and the reason I'm taking time to do this review. In my opinion, this is the best and most historically authentic game that I have ever played in my life. So, this is my opinion, product review, and comment on the misleading reviews for this awesome product. This console is super fast, and the wireless controller has never failed to keep up with me. I actually purchased an extra wireless controller and a wireless recharging system, so that I am always ready for battle. If you like gaming at all, you have got to try this console with Assassin's Creed Origins. It actually just came out at the end of October, which is almost exactly when I purchased it. So, it is brand new, yet there have been a few patches already and lots of additional content continually being added to it. Some people have said that they just like the views, and not even necessarily doing any missions. Me, I must say, I like it all. A great game and a great gaming system. ... show more

  • Great Refurbished Product!
When ordering, the condition says "Used - Very Good," so note that you are not buying new. Having said that, when mine came without the game, I contacted the seller, who MORE than made it right. I've also had the system for over a year now and it's worked perfectly with no issues. Would definitely buy a system from the same vendor again! NOTE: More than one vendor sells under this same Amazon page - my vendor was GameAsylum ... show more

  • Excellent Game Consul with a stunning game
I'm probably an unusual purchaser as a 60 year old man who has never played a computer game in his life - sure, I watched my sons get into games consoles years ago, but I was never even curious enough to have a go. Given the death throws of the movie and TV industry and the constant stream of uninteresting, poorly made drivel on offer I decided there must something in this gaming stuff, so I purchased this - now I'm hooked. Really glad I got the 1TB because with only 'Assassins Creed: Origins' and the other free game 'Rainbows Edge' loaded 10% of the memory is already gone (sure you can delete and reload but don't want to be doing that too soon). The Xbox is awesome and I was advised the control was more intuitive for a beginner - can't agree more - it's excellent. Utterly simplistic to set up, took all of 2 minutes, works fantastic. 'Assassins Creed: Origins' is stunning - I love history and this is as close to wandering around Ptolemaic Egypt as you're going to get! The game is fantastic and I especially love the fact that you can get around to a mission when you want, the game allows you to just wander off and explore, loot money, attack military gold shipments, hunt, swim, sail and practice & prepare with virtually no restrictions. Why watch a sad, third rate movie when you can actually be in a fantastic one! Awesome stuff - now I know what all the fuss was about! ... show more

  • Not bad, but...
Okay, maybe I'm just old, but this thing just makes me mad. The quality of the unit is good & the games too, but I miss the old days where when you bought a gaming console you went home, set it up, threw in a game & had some fun. This thing always has to update everything, be connected to the internet (which is loads of fun when your connection is slow), & you have to create & log into a stupid account... and heaven forbid you can't remember the password or find where you wrote it down. Haven't even had it a year & the joysticks are wondering or stuck. If I was younger & "got" all this fancy stuff I'd probably love it, but at near 50 I couldn't be bothered & probably wouldn't buy it again. All that said, my little boy loves playing those Lego games, & I'm a sucker for the little guy, so I probably would. LOL ... show more

  • Great aesthetics; games, as always, are personal choice
To start, if you are on the fence between this, the PS4, and a Switch/WiiU/Wii, my advice is always the same: figure out what games you like, then decide what controllers feel most comfortable in your hands, then consider which console your friends are on. If you care about true 4K graphics power, the consensus seems to be that the Xbox One X is the way to go. Of course, you won't have Mario or Uncharted... This is my second Xbox One. The first is plugging away quite well after 4 years, comfortably being an entertainment and gaming center in the basement. When we upgraded houses, we now have a sitting area in our bedroom. Being cord cutters (no dish/cable for us, thank you!), we decided we would treat ourselves to either another Xbox or a PS4. Given that I had a ton of games for the Xbox, we use my handy matrix above and decided a second X1 was for us. What stands out about the S versus the vanilla X1 is the aesthetics, the size, and the noise. This is a really, really crisp looking device. The white is simply stunning. It is also noticeably smaller and quieter than the vanilla X1. I feel totally comfortable with this running while the wife is sleeping away. Great buy for the smaller upstairs sitting area! ... show more
