  • Nearly Perfect and the best Xbox One to date.
I have had every console since the original Atari. Several themed ones as well. This is a great console and tied with the white and gold PS4 destiny bundle for best looking ever. I like that this console looks great without being flashy. With any themed console it is bonded forever with the game it's themed after. Not much chance Halo Guardians is a disappointment to most fans and even still it's Halo. So you can look on this Xbox One with great memories of whichever game you liked the best -even if you hate Guardians. It has Halo themed sounds and it's hard to imagine any Halo fan being disappointed with this bundle. They sound great and really adds to the theme. I promise the people who say the console they ordered didn't come with the codes are simply not knowing where to look in the box. Human error. You have to open the steel Guardians case and both codes are found in there and blend in with the other items if you are a clueless person. Only three negatives. I would have liked to have seen this bundle come with a physical copy of the game instead. Because it is a huge download and not all of us have the fastest internet. Especially for launch night. But I understand. I get they gave us about a week to download. But what about the customer that purchases this after launch? Another issue is I don't think the Xbox One's UI is as good as it could be. It's not as good as the Ps4. I am not brand loyal either. I consider myself a PC gamer first and own all systems. So in my unbiased opinion the UI feels very constricted, overly complicated, reminds me of Windows 8 and as not as user friendly as I would like. It's probably the Xbox One's first or second biggest weakness. I also don't like how this doesn't come with the collectors edition Halo 5. We get the deluxe game only. Not the limit non statue option. I would have gladly paid 100 dollars more for it to be included. So if you are a hardcore Halo fan you miss out. The statue I can buy it on eBay if I want but I would have liked the option to buy through Microsoft through the bundle. With a code or something. 4.5 stars overall so I have to go with five stars rounding up. ... show more

  • Great choice for Halo fans. All the extras, including controller, are done right
My son and I are both huge Halo fans. I wasn't convinced to buy either the Xbox One or PS4, last year. However, my son has every Halo game on the Xbox 360, plus a special edition 360 with a pair of Halo controllers. When they announced a Halo special edition Xbox One, and they offered two different controllers, I knew where things were headed. If you already have an Xbox Live account, you can download some of your older games to the new system, so you're not starting from scratch. The unit is a huge step up, and I didn't realize it had its own set of console sounds for various functions. It sounds pretty cool. Not including the Kinect was a negative point, but I was very angry when I heard that the first XBOX One units were designed to have the Kinect unit on at all times. Sorry, I don't want a recording and video device on in my house at all times, especially if it's connected to a network. From what I can see, there aren't as many Kinect games around, this generation, so it may not be much of a loss. The controllers feel great in your hand. The Spartan Locke controller (which comes with the console) feels very similar to the Master Chief controller, which is sold separately. Neither has the rubberized texture of the Forza controllers on the underside, but the darker sections have a subtle texture to them, and the inserts on top that look like carbon fiber are actually textured, as well. They both feel great in your hand. 1TB was the way to go. We've downloaded several games, plus we got a bunch of things on sale at Christmas or had the 360 versions in Xbox Gold Live, and we've almost filled half the drive. Of course, you can add a USB 3.0 drive, and we'll do that, if we need more room (don't forget to do the system updates, since one increases drive load time by over 20%). ... show more

  • Made me switch to PS4
I have sent my Halo special edition Xbox One back. I have decided after twelve years of being a loyal Xbox fan and advocate to cut ties and switch to Sony and the Playstation 4. After purchasing the special edition Halo Xbox One and the special edition Master Chief controller we were quite disappointed when we sat down to play the game and realized it did not support local co-op, an element this game is well known for. Many of my friends begged me to buy a PS4 rather than an Xbox One, however I argued Xbox One supports my style of gameplay and offers more local co-op options. I recently discovered this argument was unfounded; I researched and found only 21 titles listed as split-screen co-op for the Xbox one and 25 titles for the PS4. This made me feel like quite a fool. I thought Microsoft advertised the Xbox one as the “entertainment hub” of the living room, to me this means allowing more than one person to play the same game at the same time on the same system. If Xbox exclusives are no longer going to have this niche, than I have no reason to stay. I can buy cross-platform games with co-op for either system. As far as I am concerned allowing a FPS Halo game to be developed without local co-op is an indication that Microsoft/Xbox has lost sight of its roots. Local co-op is an aspect that contributed greatly to the original success of Halo. It is why I left Sony so long ago and ironically, all these years later it’s the same game causing me to switch back. Companies’ feel the demographic interested in local co-op games is minute and nothing to cater to, however I would disagree. During the eight year life cycle of the Xbox 360 I spent more than $3000 on physical games, these are games I still have sitting on a shelf. Even more spent on games from the Live marketplace, two active Live accounts, and countless peripherals. I even upgraded from the launch day model to an Elite in this time period. I also still own my original Xbox and games. I look forward to spending this money over the few years on my new PS4 ... show more
