The garage door opener had torn off from the upper door panel. This bracket was a perfect fit and heavy duty. I expect it to give a lot more life to my garage door. I only had to take 3 lag bolts out of the door vertical braces and use them to install this awesome new bracket designed to repair my damaged bracket. It saved me a lot of money doing it myself. It was so easy… a caveman could do it. Sorry GIECO.

Despite the description, this is not a repair part. It's purpose is to reinforce the top door panel of steel, glass and fiberglass (lightweight) garage doors. This bracket makes the top panel more rigid to withstand the forces placed upon it from your garage door opener. It replaces the original door bracket provided by your garage door opener manufacture. Before you buy, check the measurements against the description and be sure at least two holes will align (TOP/BOTTOM) on your top panel. I purchased this particular one because it is 12 gauge steel. A lot of cheaper ones are only 14 gauge. Remember, the purpose is to reinforce the top panel so the thicker the steel, the better. There are no instructions provided so let me give the 101 guide or at least how I installed it. 1. Disconnect the garage door opener arm from the original bracket and move it out of the way 2. Remove original door opener bracket. No need to save it. 3. Align the new bracket. Ideally, the TOP will slip UNDER the horizontal reinforcement bar and the BOTTOM will mount OVER the top hinge bracket. 4. Remove existing screws, place the new bracket, align to the holes you chose in step 3 and attach with the screws removed previously. 5. Re-attach garage door opener arm with bolt and carter's pin. Of the two sets of holes, choose the one that is EVEN with the TOP roller. I had to adjust the length of my door opener arm to align with new bracket. No big deal. That's it. You're done. It took me roughly 30 minutes from start to stop. Good luck.

The original brace had broken. This one fits perfectly, provides much-needed support, and does the job very well! The installation was simple, the opening mechanism is notably smoother now and far less noise when opening the garage door. Overall, I was very pleased with this replacement bracket. Almost too simple, making me wish I had replaced it sooner!
