Our previous lock manufacturer informed us they would be ceasing operations and shutting down their servers, thus rendering their app and all HomeKit/Alexa connectivity dead. Like, seriously. I just upgraded all our wi-fi lights to Matter lights and we're loving the improved speed and reliability of this protocol. So the silver lining to Reagle's demise is that are we got to upgrade to a Matter over Thread lock. Beyond all the upgraded features, the big selling point is that after programming fingerprints and a couple of other settings on their app (which I believe is all handled locally and doesn't involve the manufacturer's servers), the X1 can be totally controlled via HomeKit. Pros: all of the above, plus Fingerprint access is instantaneous. Code response is instantaneous Apple Key response is instantaneous HomeKit response -- voice or remote from phone-- is near instantaneous Super quiet and fast mechanism Set up with HomeKit and programming fingerprints etc on the app is intuitive and easy Future-proofing a bit with Matter Over Thread Enormous value for such a full featured Matter Over Thread lock Cons: Physical keyhole is inconveniently located under TWO covers (NOT a big deal as there are literally five other ways to lock/unlock) So quiet I no longer get an audible warning hubby's on the elevator coming home so it's made afternoon assignations extra dangerous! (jk, but the old lock was loud enough to let anyone in the apartment know someone was almost home) So no real cons. It's a great lock with none of the "new & shiny" $$ premium other brands seem to be charging for MoT locks.

I am always a bit skeptical when buying new security gadgets because you never know how tedious the initial programming or physical installation is going to be. However, the Thorbolt X1 padlock completely blew me away right out of the box. Setup & Configuration: The setup was an absolute breeze. The instructions provided were crystal clear, and it took me less than 5 minutes to get it fully configured and ready to go. There was no complicated troubleshooting, guessing games, or endless frustration. It paired and programmed exactly the way it was supposed to on the very first try. User Experience: Once it was ready, using it was just as seamless. The Thorbolt X1 is incredibly user-friendly and intuitive. The interface and unlocking mechanism are straightforward, meaning you don't have to fiddle with it or try multiple times just to get it to open. It operates smoothly, efficiently, and without any annoying lag. Build & Performance: Aside from how easy it is to manage, the physical quality is excellent. It has a great, heavy-duty weight to it and feels incredibly sturdy and well-made. I currently have it securing my [Insert what you are locking up, e.g., gym locker / backyard gate / storage shed], and it gives me total peace of mind knowing it's secure but won't hassle me when I need to get inside. This is one the best products I have bought in recent years. In fact, I bought a second one to make my household key-free. It took me about 15 minutes to install it. It has a clever design that doesn’t require screwing it into the door aside from what was already there. I still can’t believe how affordable it is for such a feature packed device. A Thread support and fingerprint support at this price point? It’s unheard of unless it had some serious shortcomings. HomeKey works really well and the fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable. Love the code and user management. It’s a beautifully designed product also. It has already changed the way we get in and out of our home. I have been planning on buying such product for a very long time but they were either crazy expensive or lacked key features that wasn’t worth investing in. I finally found the product that’s literally perfect in every way. Setup was a breeze with zero connective issues. Highly recommend it!

I recently purchased the ThorBolt X1 for my front door, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. The build quality is excellent, with a sleek, modern design that feels both durable and secure. Installation was straightforward, and the setup process through the mobile app was simple to figure out and I had no problem easily integrating the ThorBolt into my Apple smart home network. I love the convenience of keyless entry—being able to unlock the door via my phone, Apple Watch, fingerprint, or a PIN code has made daily life much easier. I've been looking for a thread enabled lock with lots of ways to unlock - fingerprint, Apple homekey, user codes, physical key... and this does them all, at a very competitive price. I replaced my front door Schlage Encode Plus with it, and so far so good! Easily added to my Apple Home, and it's a little quicker to respond than the Schlage, which is nice. Some areas where I wish it was a little better: - while solid enough, the Schlage is clearly a step up beefy-wise. The Schlage is built like a commercial quality lock, whereas this one has a lot of plastic and smaller-gauge fasteners. So if someone came at it with a crowbar, I would trust the Schlage to hold up whereas this one maybe not... that said I think it's plenty solid for my neighborhood and my needs. - I wish the keyboard backlight had a motion sensor to know when your hand was getting close to it, versus trusting that people will know where to poke in order to light up the keyboard. You need to do this to find & press the lock button on your way out, so guests will have to know to touch the (unmarked) keypad area first, so they can then light up the lock icon, and then press it. It's a small detail, but the Schlage did better at making sure the lock icon was visible at all times. - in my ideal world, it would also have face recognition so that I didn't have to even use a fingerprint. Though that is probably fraught with security and privacy issues, etc.. - being a Chinese import, my husband isn't willing to give it his fingerprints... an understandable concern. Schlage is US/Mexico made and so has fewer privacy concerns. SO I like and am keeping this lock, though I am also keeping the Schlage Encode Plus and moved it to our back door. But if Schlage adds a fingerprint reader in future, I might switch to that.

First Impressions - there's no tape on the box, did I get a used product?! Open it up and see that the parts bags are all sealed - okay I guess this is new. I suppose there's nothing really wrong with a used and returned product but it does make me question whether the item is any good. Anyway on to the review. This is my fourth smart lock brand in about ten years or so. I think all of them, more or less, solve for our issue of having a large family coming and going. Most smart locks leave something to be desired functionality-wise. When we first got the Ultralok with fingerprint reader we loved it; turns out it was only 80% awesome, it didn't work occasionally and there were a few panicky moments where we couldn't get in. Also so many smart locks are slooooow to lock, unlock or register keypad inputs. Have only had the Thor installed for a bit but it is super snappy. It's registered finger prints very quickly, the NFC for iphone is fantastic and very quick. This is the first lock brand that has installed on the first try and every access option just works. We installed three of these and all of them installed easil, synced to the app and apple homekit without any issue. Haven't figured out how to get the NFC working on the apple watches yet but the phone works great. One thing that wasn't immediately clear was how to add others to the homekit for the NFC phone function. Easy enough you just have to go to the Apple home app and tap the plus sign in the top right corner > add people > then select the apple ids of kids and family you want to have access. From their phones you'll see a little notification red dot in the home app that you have to click on and accept. It'll prompt you to add the app and make some security choices. Easy as pie. Big fan of this lock so far but I'll report back if anything changes. One thing I'd like to see in the app is Face ID to login instead of having to insert a password after it times out.

Wow, this is a very nice look. It requires 8! AA batteries, but it works with everything; you can open it by tapping your phone with an app, fingerprint, number code, or a physical key. We love it, shipping was fast, and well protected, comes with all the hardware and a manual with links to program it. An illuminated pad for a code. Manual says batteries will last up to a year, depending on usage, but its quiet and smooth opening bolt. Black color makes it look elegant, and kids can get in without the need of a key, just dial the code or a finger print and works very good, we are happy with this purchase.
