I am always a bit skeptical when buying new security gadgets because you never know how tedious the initial programming or physical installation is going to be. However, the Thorbolt X1 padlock completely blew me away right out of the box. Setup & Configuration: The setup was an absolute breeze. The instructions provided were crystal clear, and it took me less than 5 minutes to get it fully configured and ready to go. There was no complicated troubleshooting, guessing games, or endless frustration. It paired and programmed exactly the way it was supposed to on the very first try. User Experience: Once it was ready, using it was just as seamless. The Thorbolt X1 is incredibly user-friendly and intuitive. The interface and unlocking mechanism are straightforward, meaning you don't have to fiddle with it or try multiple times just to get it to open. It operates smoothly, efficiently, and without any annoying lag. Build & Performance: Aside from how easy it is to manage, the physical quality is excellent. It has a great, heavy-duty weight to it and feels incredibly sturdy and well-made. I currently have it securing my [Insert what you are locking up, e.g., gym locker / backyard gate / storage shed], and it gives me total peace of mind knowing it's secure but won't hassle me when I need to get inside. First Impressions - there's no tape on the box, did I get a used product?! Open it up and see that the parts bags are all sealed - okay I guess this is new. I suppose there's nothing really wrong with a used and returned product but it does make me question whether the item is any good. Anyway on to the review. This is my fourth smart lock brand in about ten years or so. I think all of them, more or less, solve for our issue of having a large family coming and going. Most smart locks leave something to be desired functionality-wise. When we first got the Ultralok with fingerprint reader we loved it; turns out it was only 80% awesome, it didn't work occasionally and there were a few panicky moments where we couldn't get in. Also so many smart locks are slooooow to lock, unlock or register keypad inputs. Have only had the Thor installed for a bit but it is super snappy. It's registered finger prints very quickly, the NFC for iphone is fantastic and very quick. This is the first lock brand that has installed on the first try and every access option just works. We installed three of these and all of them installed easil, synced to the app and apple homekit without any issue. Haven't figured out how to get the NFC working on the apple watches yet but the phone works great. One thing that wasn't immediately clear was how to add others to the homekit for the NFC phone function. Easy enough you just have to go to the Apple home app and tap the plus sign in the top right corner > add people > then select the apple ids of kids and family you want to have access. From their phones you'll see a little notification red dot in the home app that you have to click on and accept. It'll prompt you to add the app and make some security choices. Easy as pie. Big fan of this lock so far but I'll report back if anything changes. One thing I'd like to see in the app is Face ID to login instead of having to insert a password after it times out.

Works well! Easy installation and it connected to HomeKit fine. I was wondering if the fingerprint reader was a gimmick but it works great and was easy to set up. If feels a bit more plastic then the Schlage but for the price it is an excellent product. And would purchase again One thing to point out - it says 1 year battery life, which sounds impressive until I realized that it takes 8 batteries instead of the expected 4.

This lock is awesome for iPhone users - perfect integration with the Thread "wifi" network that means much longer battery life than any other standard wifi smart locks, plus opens with just tapping iphone to the door to unlock. I've been looking into smart locks for a long time and going down the rabbit hole leads to the Apple system being the best for connectivity, battery life, as well as the HomeKey convenience. You need to buy a HomePod Mini to use this feature (I got one for $50 on Facebook marketplace), but now I can just tap my phone to the door and it unlocks instantly. Liked it so much that I bought a second for my other back door - now I don't care any house keys anymore! I can also remotely lock and unlock and see door lock status within my apple Home app. Also, I get door unlock and lock alerts to my phone home screen, to show if someone opens your door while you're away. This lock took me all of 20 minutes to install, even in my old grungy garage door. It had very clear instructions. Added to the Apple Home app within minutes. I also added the Seekpoint app for further options. Note my second lock initially had a "jammed lock" error, if you get this you just need to calibrate the lock in the seekpoint app, because it is set up for the wrong direction door opening. Was fixed within 30 seconds. Overall, this is one of the most complete smart locks I've seen. Seems very well made, and is super responsive. I'm hoping the battery life lives up to its claims, but it should with the Thread system. They really thought of everything for this lock, because they even added an emergency USB-C port on the outside incase the lock fully dies and needs power to get inside. It also even has fingerprint access, which I never plan to use, but other reviews say works well. The code access works quickly, and it locks responsively when you're leaving with just 2 taps. Overall, very happy with these two locks. Used for only a couple weeks so far, just hoping they hold up well.

I actually purchased two of these locks, and overall I really do love them. Installation was straightforward, they look great, and the fingerprint reader, keypad, and app have all worked very well. When they’re functioning properly, they’re exactly what I was hoping for. Unfortunately, one of the two locks developed a problem just after Amazon’s return window expired. It now reports that it’s “jammed” even though the deadbolt moves freely by hand. The lock will unlock, immediately relock itself, and refuses to complete calibration because it continues to report a jam. I’ve tried every troubleshooting step I could think of, including resetting the lock, removing the batteries for an extended period, installing brand-new batteries, and recalibrating. The issue persists. The other lock is working perfectly, which makes me think this is a defective unit rather than a design flaw. I’ve reached out to the seller and am currently waiting for a response. I’m hopeful they’ll stand behind their product. I’ll gladly update this review and the star rating based on how the issue is resolved.

This is one the best products I have bought in recent years. In fact, I bought a second one to make my household key-free. It took me about 15 minutes to install it. It has a clever design that doesn’t require screwing it into the door aside from what was already there. I still can’t believe how affordable it is for such a feature packed device. A Thread support and fingerprint support at this price point? It’s unheard of unless it had some serious shortcomings. HomeKey works really well and the fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable. Love the code and user management. It’s a beautifully designed product also. It has already changed the way we get in and out of our home. I have been planning on buying such product for a very long time but they were either crazy expensive or lacked key features that wasn’t worth investing in. I finally found the product that’s literally perfect in every way. Setup was a breeze with zero connective issues. Highly recommend it!

This is a great smart lock. I really wanted something that would work with Apple Home key and this is a great choice. I use my Apple watch to lock and unlock the door. It works flawlessly and is great if your hands are full and you can't grab your phone. The installation, programming, and first use was all straightforward and the instructions were easy to follow. I've had it for over a year now and no complaints. Would definitely buy again!

I absolutely love this lock! The first one that I received was defective - the keypad would not illuminate at all so the keypad wasn’t functional. I contacted customer service and after sending them some photos and videos to help troubleshoot, they mailed me a free replacement lock. The new one works perfectly! I don’t have Apple Home or an Apple HomePod, so we only use the thumbprint and the keypad to open the door. We mostly use the thumbprint - it works 50-60% of the time. I was able to program fingerprints for everyone in our family. It makes opening the door super easy! When the thumbprint feature fails, we use the keypad. You can set one code for the whole family or individual codes for each person. I initially setup Apple Home Key sensing so that I could open the door with my Apple Watch, but that feature drained the batteries so quickly. While I loved being able to open the door with my watch, it’s not worth having to replace the batteries every few weeks. I replaced the batteries and turned off Apple Home Key sensing and my battery power is still at 100% after several months of use. Overall, it’s a great lock and I love all of the features. It’s not perfect, but everyone in our family loves it.
