Just recently moved to a neighborhood with people trying to break into vehicles and houses. So this product was a necessity. As long as you buy the plug and play mounting adapter with power cord plate that wyze offers along with this, its nearly plug and play installation. Simply twist wires together with the plate that's sold separetely, mount to wall, screw into surface, then plug in. Installation was very simple, and easy. Image clarity is amazing, both day and night. Same as the doorbell camera of theirs I bought. Battery life isn't concern due to the ability to plug into 3 prong outlet with the kit they sell separate. Light is bright enough to illuminate the Marianas trench. Lots of customization to setup the range you want detection in, how bright light is, alarms or silent, etc. App is decent.     • Buyer Beware! This doesn't work!!!

After buying it, I now see reviews of folks having the same issue as us -- the cameras constantly go offline and we have to physically reboot the wifi router, cable modem, and power cycle the switches to the 2 cameras in order for it to maybe go back on. (This doesn't always work either). These cameras only worked for us for 1 week. Let me tell you why this is a really big problem: 1). You have to be home to try to get it back online... when you are on vacation, or say someone who spends 1/2 the year in Florida & 1/2 up north.... if you are away from home, the camera goes offline and leaves you unprotected and you won't be able to do anything about it. We bought the camera because of packages theft from in front of our garage, and mailbox theft, so having it offline is unacceptable. 2). The company does nothing about it. I wasted an entire 2 days on live chat -- I don't have time for that, and I will never get that time back. I don't get paid when I don't work. Even more of a problem, when I first contacted them about both our cameras being offline, they said it was because they had just updated & made changes, and we'd have to reboot the wifi router, cable modem, and cycle power on & off "only once" because of the firmware change. But my husband and I work from home. My husband's job is very stressful, and he was in the middle of a live issue (as he usually is)... we can't just power off wifi in the middle of a work day. I asked how often they would give updates and we'd have to reboot. I was told "very rarely". Well, after we rebooted everything, the cameras only worked for ONE HOUR before going offline again. So the issue wasn't resolved. And they continue to go offline. After sending them screenshots and logs and basically being a slave beta tester for them, the last email I got from the company said, and I quote, "My team doesn't have a way to interpret or access the logs and we have no control over this. What I can do is I will be submitting your feedback to the team. We won't likely hear from them but they usually solve the issue by including the fix through firmware and app updates." Any careful reader will notice: 1). the offline issue started from a firmware update in the first place. 2). Firmware updates require the reboot of router and power cycling -- so if you are away from your home for any amount of time, or if you work from home, you are screwed. 3). There's no indication that the company will ever fix this, as there was another review complaining about this issue from 3 months ago! There are other complaint reviews from 7 months ago. A security camera that is constantly offline is a complete fail, and the company does not care, does not value your time or money, and doesn't resolve the issue. 4). We are going to remove the cameras and return -- barely making the return window because we had to have Geek Squad install them for us and that took forever. We paid $400 to have these cameras installed, and now, we are going to be left without the yard lights we started with, and out $400. No accountability from the company for the money we lost, the time we lost, and the fact that we are not protected from theft all this time. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!! ... show more

I checked out my Nas mfg web site and the Wyze mfg website before purchase. Both indicated that there was a firmware version available that supported RTSP protocol output of camera footage so I could easily connect these cams to my NAS rather than using the mfg cloud service for video storage. After purchase tried to install the camera and download the RTSP version of the firmware. I followed the link on the Wyze website to the supposed location of the download, only to find they discontinued distribution and support of that RTSP firmware 2 years ago. Called their support and after a relatively short time on the phone it was confirmed that they are planning to have an updated version available in the future, but because they could not verify if that meant 2 week, 2 months or 2 years from now, I am tasked with returning the product for a refund. What a real shame this product seems to be well made, and easily installed. It also has 180 degree lens and many other great features that are hard to find. It just has no way of accessing the footage and storing it on a NAS. This could be a great purchase if you have not plans of storing your footage on a NAS or other third party storage service. YOU MUST USE THEIR CLOUD SERVICE or an SD card in the optional slot on the camera. ... show more
