  • Excellent quality, easy install, excellent app
They look great and the colors are fantastic. The app functionality is amazing and has none of that subscription b***s*** from other things like hue (who just started requiring that). The lights are super easy to put up, however if you've got a large awning like I do, I'd suggest holding one of the lights up to see where you want it to throw light, before you remove the backing for the sticky mount. That backing is so strong it can hold up the entire section of lights, which makes installation super easy. Though I don't trust it enough in the dampness here so it would be nice if it came with more of the screw down plates to hold it securely, but you can get a hundred of those here on Amazon for like $5 or something. It's fine for initial installation. I HIGHLY suggest getting a ruler or something to mount them all at the exact distance from the wall though. I kinda eyeballed it... this was a bad idea. Once you're under the awning it's super obvious they're not straight... kinda embarrassing. My favorite part is all the app functions, everything you could want from your system. Hell you can even buy switches to mount inside and remotely turn them on and off. You can even connect them to motion sensors that can be configured. Plus you can even share the device, which means I can let my roommates get the app and control it, so if it's too bright against their window they can turn that section off or turn the lights off entirely using the app. ... show more

  • Great Company with Fantastic Product that is Lots of Fun!
Color: White Size: 150ft
I liked this company when all they offered me were some fancy lighting options. I didn't care for the fact that I couldn't buy extra extensions (rope without lights), and I didn't care for the fact that I couldn't buy extra control units (the piece that allows the user to connect with wifi/bluetooth), but I took a chance and bought this product anyway, and I love it. I did spent quite a bit of time figuring out how to get the lights up on my house without it being too obvious and I recommend everyone else know how they are going to go up before starting. Luckily, for me, I figured out a solution that worked with 8 segments. If I wanted to use the 9th segment, then I would need an extension or to run an extension cord, which I didn't want to do, so I just opted to use 8 segments. Also, the lights are low-profile enough that it isn't noticeable that decorative lights are up permanently (my HOA is kinda picky), and they look great. I get compliments on them all the time. I enjoy all the options for holidays, seasons, scenes, timing and/or advanced scheduling (turning on lights at sunset), functionality, working in time with music, options for creating scenes to make multiple products work together, etc., etc., etc. Honestly, there is so much functionality that it is almost overwhelming - even if you're a techie/nerd like me. Seriously, it seems like they thought of almost everything. My kids absolutely LOVE playing with the phone app when connected to the outside lights. There were more than a few nights where you could have caught us outside randomly clapping, yelling, or singing because of the voice/music activation. Quite fun to play with, actually. And, like I said, I liked this company when all they offered were fancy lights, but this year, just less than a year after buying these specific lights, they completely stopped responding to connection with my phone. After two or three back and forth messages with customer help (also in the app), they sent me an ENTIRE NEW SET. All I wanted was a new control segment and I would have been good, but they sent me an entire new set. I was blown away. I didn't have to "fight" the company like I have done with other companies. (I am fair, but if a product says it does something, it better do it; otherwise, that company will hear from me.) I highly recommend Govee and their lighting products. I have two nightlights for my kids, two or three sets of outdoor neon rope lights, and now 2 sets of outdoor permanent lights, and I love and use them all. And every product I own can all be found, maintained, and manipulated through the same app. I will note that Govee products are quite a bit pricier than what I'm normally comfortable paying for something like this, but, as the saying goes, "You get what you pay for," and Govee is one of the best, if not the best when it comes to lighting solutions. Every time I look through their catalog, I find 5 more things that I "have to have". And, honestly, once everything is said and done, are they really that much more? I mean, I have bought the same 50 feet of Christmas lights many years in a row because they stop working, but these lights are permanent and long lasting, so, really, are you spending more? ... show more

  • Best investment! Do not hesitate!
Are these lights an investment? They sure are! But I am telling you, they are 100% worth it! Why did we buy them? Before we invested in these, putting up our holiday lights was always a dreaded task. We live in the midwest which means we were always balancing trying to get the lights up before it gets too cold and snowy and putting them out too early. Who wants holiday lights up in September? Then there's the fact of having to take them down after the holidays... do we risk my husband sliding off the roof in the snow and ice or do we leave up until April? If your doing the math, that means our old lights could be up for half the year- no thank you! Enter Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights! I am telling you, these lights are absolutely the best! * Installation could not have been more straight forward * The connectivity to the app was easy * The app is very user friendly and straight-forward * We have had these lights up for two years and still going strong * They can be used year-round * Fantastic Customer service * Year round use * For us, they are also used for safety and security year round * The combination of use options is vast * The light strands virtually disappear on the house Full transparency, we did have an issue with one of the strands malfunctioning about a year later. I called Govee explained what was happening, they asked my to send a video of it happening. They literally asked for nothing else and without hesitation, they sent me a new $250.00 strand of lights! AND, I had them by the end of that week! I mentioned safety and security and year-round use in my review- allow me to explain. Our house does not have accent lighting built in to the soffits, so when our lights are not used for a festive reason (holidays, birthdays, etc.) we have them set as accent lighting. They illuminate the outside of our house in key places such a walkways, corners and the driveway. We love the fact they are on a timer that is controlled in the app. No more leaving the porch or garage lights on all day and night. We live in a neighborhood without street lights, it can get really dark! We no longer have to remember to turn on the outside lights if we have a visitor coming over. I can also go into the app and adjust the timer based on the time of the year. In the winter when it's dark by 5:00 pm, my lights come on at 4:45. In the summer when it's light until 9:30, I set the lights to come on at say 9:15. I do adjust the time a few times a year to keep up with daylight and darkness. It literally takes me less than 5 minutes in the app. I could go on and on about what I love about these lights! As I said at the start of this review, yes these lights are a hefty investment, especially if you have a lot of roofline like we do, but I am telling you, these lights have been one of our best investments! Another factor that we considered when deciding to invest in the Govee lights was the amount of money we were spending on replacement lights after the weather had taken a toll on the strands year after year. Then there's the fact we could never find the exact set we needed to replace a set, which would then ensue replacing many strands at a time. It was a never ending cycle of frustration. These lights put an end to all of that! Now, the only thing we have to think about it, what day do we want to open the app and click on our holiday lights! Which brings me to another point in the set up. You can get as creative as you want with them and create your own pattern of lighting, by selecting your own coloring, flashing or not, if you want flashing what flashing pattern do you want and etc. or you can choose from preset options. We do a combination of these options. For our year-round accent lighting we opted to create our own so that we could turn on white lights in the desired areas we needed accent lighting (which can be a set once and then just turned on and off- you do not have to re-create it each time you want to use it) For the holidays we select from one of the preset options- it just depends what look we are going for that year- maybe it's a multicolored gingerbread look one year and then next year it might be a classic white light that is flashing. The options are vast! Sure, there are all kinds of technical aspects that I could review, but if you want that information I would suggest you read the specs directly from Govee- they are the experts on that. I am here to tell you these lights are the real deal from an actual user! They are as great as advertised! Do not hesitate to add them to your home. ... show more

  • A Versatile Lighting Solution with Some Adhesive Woes
Color: White Size: 150ft
The Govee Permanent Lights offer a wide range of impressive features, but they do come with a minor drawback. Here's some of the pros and cons: Pros: 1. **Customizations**: The ability to customize these lights to your preferences is a standout feature. You can create the perfect ambiance for any occasion, from vibrant parties to relaxing evenings. 2. **Vibrant Color Options**: The Govee Permanent Lights provide an extensive color palette, allowing you to choose from a wide array of shades to match your mood or decor. 3. **Built-in Themes**: The inclusion of built-in themes simplifies the lighting setup process and allows you to quickly get into the holiday spirit from Christmas to valentines to Father’s Day. You can easily switch between various themes through the convenient user friendly app. 4. **Modern Design**: The lights have a sleek and modern design, which doesn’t take away from the design of your house when the lights are off. Their flexibility and ease of installation make them easy to install. Cons: 1. **Adhesive Issues**: One notable drawback is that the adhesive backing might not stick as well as expected depending on the surface. The adhesive did not adhere well to the gutters I was trying to attach them to. We had to come up with additional adhesive solutions to make these lights work with the design on our roof. In conclusion, the Govee Permanent Lights offer a fantastic range of customization options and vibrant colors, with the convenience of built-in themes, that can be coordinated with other Govee products. Even though the adhesive quality is a potential concern that may require extra attention during installation, these lights are a worthwhile addition to any space, allowing you to create the perfect lighting for any occasion. ... show more

  • Good but not perfect
I was very excited to finally get these. Unfortunately I bought these and installed them, then shortly after they came out with the pro’s. i really wanted the warm white look on my house when it’s not a holiday. You don’t get that with this version and anything close to warm white has a pink-ish tone to it. Otherwise gather installation wasnt too bad. I took time to plan it out and measure. Pros: -A lot of options for themes on the app and then in the user shared section -Pretty easy installation (i used the included brackets and also purchased other ones and used quite a bit more especially on hard to reach areas). I did have a couple lights come off the soffit due to the tape not totally sticking. Not a big deal but annoying none the less. -works with Alexa Cons - these lights were great for about the first 3 months, mainly because there weren’t any holidays other than Halloween when I first used them so I didn’t mess around with the features too much. Fast forward to Xmas time currently and i love the different patters they do. My main issue has been when using the diy feature with downloaded presets others have made. I like that i can have the lights change ever 5 mins in the auto play feature but i have found that using this feature causes a lot of issues. Lately my lights wont turn off at the scheduled “off” time. I haven’t had an issue until using the auto play. I have tried a lot including running an Alexa routine to no avail. Customer support isn’t that great as they told me to reset the lights and that did not solve the issue. I am prettty sure it is due to auto play because when i turn it off they seem to work as programmed. Otherwise i do enjoy the lights and i get a lot of compliments. ... show more

  • Excellent lighting for outside home
MOUNTING: Let me get this out of the way first - be very careful with what day you install these! The weather needs to be perfect around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit and low humidity. If you try to install them in cooler weather the sticky pads will not get sticky, and if you try to install them in warmer & more humid weather the sticky pads will not stick. I spent two hours putting all the lights up using the pads when it was 90 degrees outside & 80% humidity (Louisiana weather). Within 12 hours, the pads had released from my roof. I ended up purchasing an additional set of mounting brackets from Amazon which screw in. It took me 4 hours instead of 2 to install, but I know for a fact they will not be coming down again. AESTHETICS These lights are very fun to look at. I installed them about 1.5" from my wall and they give very bright 8" triangles of light under each light. They look very similar to large Christmas lights. If you're looking for more of a "flood of color" on your exterior wall, then you will want to mount them about 3"-4" away from the wall. FUNCTION: OK, look the app sucks. It's the worst part of the whole system. The system works great, the dusk to dawn function is cool, the ability to set schedules for different light colors through the year is cool, design your own lighting schemes (I did a Pac-Man theme for Halloween). It's awesome. But just be prepared to spend a lot of time figuring out the app. It is not intuitive and is really suited to the 12-25 yo crowd. Anyone older is going to look at it and just be lost. OVERALL: I love these lights. I don't know anything about longevity yet, I've only had them up a couple of months but they have been a blast to use. I highly recommend them. ... show more

  • Disappointing Customer Service Experience with Govee
I am writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the customer service experience I have had with Govee regarding my recent purchase. On November 30, 2023, I contacted Govee customer support to report an issue with the power adapter for my lights. The lights stopped working just 10 minutes after installation. The response from the support team, initially from Cy and later from Sam, seemed promising, requesting additional information and a video demonstrating the problem. However, the frustration began when I encountered difficulties uploading the video. Despite my efforts and multiple attempts with various formats, the issue persisted. I was then provided with a link that ultimately did not resolve the problem. The lack of a seamless process for submitting necessary evidence was already a source of frustration. The communication from the support team continued, with troubleshooting steps provided by Sam, including unplugging and replugging the adapter, resetting the power button, and ensuring the correct number of lights were selected. Despite following these steps, the problem persisted. I expressed my urgency in receiving a resolution, as I have two additional Govee light strips installed and was eager to continue using their products. Finally, on December 3, 2023, Melinda from Govee Support assured me a new power cord would be sent for free. However, the situation took a turn for the worse when, after days of waiting, I inquired about a tracking number for the shipment on December 12, 2023. The response from Sharon was unsatisfactory, mentioning the shipment would take 5-7 business days but failing to provide a tracking number. On December 12, 2023, Joy offered an alternative solution, suggesting a replacement product from Amazon. I agreed, hoping for a quicker resolution. However, the subsequent request for my contact information, which had already been provided multiple times during the conversation, felt redundant and added unnecessary delays. My frustration reached a boiling point on December 14, 2023, when, after weeks of back-and-forth, delays, and unmet promises, I expressed my disappointment with the entire process. The lack of efficiency, unnecessary requests for information already provided, and the overall delay in resolving a seemingly simple issue have left me thoroughly dissatisfied with Govee's customer service. Despite the final assurance that a replacement has been sent, it is regrettable that it took over two weeks of constant follow-ups and repeated requests to reach this point. This experience has been unacceptable, disrespectful, and reflects poorly on a company that should prioritize customer satisfaction. In conclusion, my interaction with Govee's customer support has been one of the most frustrating and time-consuming experiences I have ever had with a company. I hope that Govee takes this feedback seriously and works towards improving its customer service processes to ensure a more positive experience for future customers. ... show more

  • Just what I always wanted Just what I always wanted
I bought these to replace some string lights that we had that stopped working last year. I figured I would make one big purchase to get high quality lights that I'll never have to mess with again, at least not while I live in this house. Installation: Make sure you use alcohol to clean and dry the spot you're about to stick the lights before you stick them up and they hold up pretty well. I've heard that the adhesive can fail in humid climates (on reddit so take that with a grain of salt) so I downloaded a 3D print file for a bracket that allows you to screw them to the soffit instead of just relying on the adhesive. If you live in a normally dry climate then you may not have any problems. I haven't had any problems yet, but I'd rather be proactive with what could potentially go wrong. If you have a porch and you're putting the lights along the front of the eave of the porch then just the one 12ft extension that's included for going between floors won't be enough. See below. The app: The app is super easy to use and adding or editing the lights is very easy to do in the app. You can rely solely on the app or you can use Alexa/Google to control the lights (minimally) as well. To change the color or set specific lights up you have to use that app but if you just want to turn the lights off or on then you can use Alexa for that. The lights: The lights themselves are very bright and well built. They don't feel like they are going to fall apart or break. One complaint: The one complaint that I had is that in the 100ft string there is one "jumper" to go from one floor to the next. It's a section that's about 12 feet long that has no lights. That didn't work for me because I have a porch and put the lights at the front edge of the porch. I would have needed 2 of the extensions in order to get to the second floor with no lights on the side of the house. Yyou can't just buy the extension from Govee either. If you want another extension you have to take to eBay and hope someone is selling one they didn't need in order to buy one. People are charging upwards of $70 just for that one piece because they know they are so hard to come by. If you have a porch, I recommend just buying the 150-foot string and planning to either keep spares of the lights or sell the strands that you don't use to recoup some of your costs. Alternatively you can do what I did and just put lights facing outward that go up the side of the house. Other than that, everything was great. ... show more
