Description

With a fully-enclosed bar and chain, the Worx 6” 20V JAWSAW™ Chainsaw is the safest chainsaw you can buy. The bar and chain actually retract into the neck of the tool when not in use, so you’ll never have a bare chainsaw just lying around the yard. And when in use, the thick protective housing prevents the blade and chain from ever getting outside of it. The bar moves up and down to accommodate branches up to 4” thick, but far less of the chain is ever exposed. Plus, the housing acts as prop for cutting branches on the ground. With a traditional chainsaw, you have to prop them up first to safely cut them, but with the JAWSAW, you can get to work on fallen branches right from the grass or pavement. It’s lightweight, less than 8 lbs, so it’s easy to hold up high and cut above your head. As a matter of fact, it’s compatible with our 5-foot pole attachment (sold separately), so you can trim tree limbs without having to get on a ladder. That’s safer, too. And the auto-tension and auto- oiler systems will keep the chain operating at optimum levels throughout the life of this tool. This model comes with a 20V 2.0Ah battery and 0.4A charger, which you can use to operate any tool on the Worx Power Share platform. So the next time you buy a tool, you probably won’t need to buy a new battery.

  • Worx Great :)
I have the Black & Decker equivalent, but find this far superior in most ways. I cut up several fallen branches and other sticks too substantial for a lopper yesterday and couldn't be more satisfied with the results. Whether the stick was 4" or 1", the tool was equally effective. I'm old and can't do as much as I once could, so if there's a tool that helps me and is safe and easy to use, I'm all for it. The B&D tool requires two hands (a good safety feature for that design) but since it's heavy and I'm not all that steady anymore, I find it awkward to position, and if you don't get it positioned well, the chain comes off track far too easily--and is an enormous hassle to get back on. On the other hand, this Worx cutter can be positioned with its jaws over the branch on the ground. You trigger it and push down to cut the branch. Wow! So much easier! It has safety features too, but they are better placed and once started, you can finish the cut pushing with one hand if you want to hold on to something for balance--helpful for me if I want to secure a branch with one foot. Mostly though, I didn't need support because I could stand still and just lean on the tool for the cut. After many, many cuts, the chain was still in place and fine, but should it come off or need adjusting, it's easy to get to unlike the B&D. I secured the included tool to access the chain to the JawSaw handle so it's always with me. Although the instructions say bar & chain oil isn't included, there was a small bottle in the box I received, along with a bottle to transfer it too with a narrow spout to pour it into the tool reservoir (which has a window so you can keep track of how much is in there). It holds a good amount so if you fill it before a session you don't have to worry about it running dry. The B&D, on the other hand, says to reoil after every 5 cuts. Really? You can't tell how much oil is in that tool's reservoir and the hole to pour it in is tiny and not covered so I never knew if it was clogged or full when the oil dribbled all over. If you want to cut branches off a fallen or standing tree or cut down saplings, a situation where the branch is not on the ground, you need two hands for the Worx and the tool is rather heavy to hold up for that work, but shouldn't be a problem for someone sturdier than I. For higher branches, though, I think you'd be better off with a long-pole battery powered saw lopper than this tool with the extension because the weight of this tool would make it hard to maneuver at a distance. I have one of those battery loppers, so only wanted this tool for fallen sticks and branches, and it works really great for that. I was cutting yesterday with the limbs lying on gravel and somehow this thing cuts them through without touching the gravel which would dull the chain. No problem, on that score. The tool arrived with some charge in the battery so I tried it out right away. After the first several cuts, though, I got concerned when it would start but then stop before cutting a limb through, but that was because the battery had essentially run out. Because I pushed that poor battery, it took several hours to fully charge, but then lasted well through the rest of my work the next day. I won't push it that far again. I have other Worx tools and should have known it's better to quit and recharge if the tool stops while working, even it it seems willing to restart, but stops again. Mostly I recharge after every working session unless I've not used the tool much. The batteries do seem to hold the charge well over long periods of disuse. All in all, this tool is a winner. ... show more

  • GREAT SAW THAT IS SUPER SAFE TO HANDLE
I could not believe how great JAWSAW cuts with the greatest part is that I felt safe that nothing would be flying back to hit me in the head or eye or any other essential part of my body :). Whoever developed this saw with the protective covers is a real blessing!!!! Very easy to handle and the confidence for safety is beyond belief. All I can say as a lil ole lady tipping 8 decades with fences around pastures taken over with CRAZY SWEETGUMS laughing in my face is THANK YOU for such a great saw!!!! Did I mention Kudzu vines as big as my arm??? JAWSAW can do the job!!! ... show more

  • 64 yr Old Woman Cuts Down 40 Trees in 2 Hours! 64 yr Old Woman Cuts Down 40 Trees in 2 Hours!
The JawSaw is fabulous! I am a 64 yr old woman and I had a blast with this thing! I cut down approximately 40 young trees in the yard at our new house that we bought! It was easy to use, the battery never died and I had no problems at all with the JawSaw, it just kept on working perfectly. Ignore the negative reviews and buy this! I have zero cons to report, and all pros! ... show more

  • It works! Nifty little chainsaw.
I have 4 acres of scrubby privet and other stuff that I've slowly been clearing by hand. I use a hand lobber for small stuff, but there is just enough too large. A chainsaw is overkill and I hate using them. This works perfectly for wrist to arm size stuff. You DO need position the saw properly - I made the mistake early on of cutting "under" in the direction it was falling, which of course trapped the blade and pulled the chain off. But this was a good lesson in how to cut and also how to service and tighten the chain. So make sure to cut from the UPPER side so that it falls away from the blade. Since this is how you would use a regular chainsaw that seems like an obvious instruction - but because the blade is hidden until you start cutting, you don't think about it until it's too late. I may try spray painting the blade side of the guard with something to remind me before i start. [update - if the chain comes off - remove the blade completely and reposition it and then reinsert. Don't try to put it back on while it's still in the housing area. It rarely comes off if I am careful about that.] Battery lasts pretty long but I haven't put it through its paces yet. Just played with it for about 15 minutes when I first got it. I was cutting live saplings and small scrub trees. I was even able to cut through a bunch of finger sized saplings in a single bunch coming out of a privet stump. [update: the 2 amp hour isn't bad, but I have since purchased some 5 amp hour batteries. Heavier, but they do last longer.] Easy on the hands and back - I have thumb arthritis in my left hand, but am able to use this easily because most of the power needs to be in the right hand. Left hand mostly guides. Remember - each tool works best for the job it was designed for. Lobbers for small things, full chainsaws for big things, and this for in between. Update: I've been using this quite a lot lately and I still love it. I had the surgery on my left hand just after I bought it, so was unsure when I'd be able to use it again. Because most of the gripping is with the right hand, I'm already back to using it. I also love that I can cut up branches on the ground while standing up straight - no bending over! I lob off a branch, it falls to the ground, and I quickly cut it into smaller pieces. I'm about to order a Worx 14" battery chainsaw (uses same batteries) for some of the larger pieces this won't handle. Anything bigger than that and I'll hire someone. FYI - change the string on the little orange "key" used to hold the blade open when you change the chain. I've already lost mine - I use a stick to hold it open until I can find it again. Also, I'm trying to figure out how to attach the opener wrench to the tool so I don't lose that too. Shame on Worx for not designing in built in tool holders for these. ... show more

  • Good tool to have for cutting up piles of trees and limbs laying on the ground: And great warrantee!
I already had a different brand battery-powered pole saw. But while it does a good job cutting high limbs, it doesn't do well at cutting up piles of trunks and branches laying on the ground. This Jaw Saw does an excellent job at that. I especially like that you can push it down onto a pile of branches on the ground and cut them up one handed. Much easier than using a two handle manual trimmer. Also my open face electric saw will digits nose into the ground; this won't because the tip of the jaws keep it out of the dirt while cutting. I also use it for low limbs. You start the chain rotating with the button, then push it gently onto the limb, and the chain saw assembly swing out of the jaw and cuts through the limb. It says it will pull itself thru the limb. but I found you need to exert a little forward pressure on the handle, which slides into the shaft causing the saw to swing out. On occasion I find that instead of pushing, I have to grab the loop handle and pull it towards me. But it Worx! Update: 1 1/2 years later the saw stopped working. Just died. I called WORX and they said, "Well, that's odd, but we'll send you a new one." A week later FedEx delivered a brand new saw. Talk about excellent service! Turns out they have a three year warrantee IF you filled out the registration. Which I hadn't. But it also turns out they honor the warrantee on unregistered products for up to two years. So SIX STARS. I now have the WORX 10" pole saw; their hedge trimmer, blower, weedeater and more. All the batteries work in all their products! Even my new 40 volt Worx pressure washer, which takes two of their 20 V batteries to make the 40v. But from now on I'll be sure to register my Worx products, which I can do at their website. ... show more

  • Easy to use and beginner friendly.
Super easy for beginners to use, super safe, charge of one battery lasts like forever. More than enough for small jobs (I used it on four 4 inch trees that was growing up around the house which I cut down then used it to chop up the trees). Set up was to put bar and chain oil into tank (I think it’s suppose to be included but it was not included in mine) and charge the battery and put it on. Good video of its use is on YouTube. Good first chain saw if you are doing things less than 4 inches. Can do things easily that others can’t because of jaw like pressing it against a house or working on the ground. Good size for what it is and high build quality. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Heavy - But very user friendly and safe to use.
Used this item on multiple trees in the backyard. Worked like a charm. Pretty much plug and play and putting in the oil was easy. Trees survived so you can definitely use this without a concern of damaging your trees. I then used the item to trim down the trees on the ground, which can be oddly used as a grabber as the rotation pulls the item into the mouth. Just an advisory caution doing this, as it will fling other items with it you did it the way I just described. Which to be clear, was turn the item on when the branch was on the ground and used it to lazily chop and pick the item up. And to be clear again, WATCH THE ROCKS if you do this. Hitting yourself in the shin, with a rock, because you were not looking is a user error. Be careful with these dangerous items no matter how many safeguards it has. The wonderful thing about this item is that it can be rested on the edge of something like a shovel. And the battery lasted for my entire backyard use. Love the grip and ease of access on this item. If you slip or accidently drop item the loss of grip turns off the item. Pretty safe item to use, albeit heavier for the safeguards. Better be safe then bleeding and or losing a limb though. With that being said, the safeguards are worth it for me to probably use this on a ladder with a belt. Albeit my arms may be sore for it. ... show more

  • Seriously, do not get this.
I know what you are thinking: this could be great for those branches and trimming those bushes! Nope. This is pretty much absolute garbage. Don't get me wrong, Worx is one of the best products out there for battery operated tools, and I own a bunch. However, this thing is just stupid. The teeny tiny chainsaw blade inside is all that cuts. You see these huge jaws and expect some amazing cutter, but it's just a 6 inch chainsaw on a long handle. It says you can cut up to 4 inches of wood, but that is NOT going to happen. It would take you 15 minutes to cut through something of that thickness. The idea is sound, something that grabs a branch and just cuts through it, but this is not what that is. This cuts way too slow and is super heavy so you can't hold it straight out for long. You can hold it above your head or maybe perpendicular to your for a bit but you'll get sore and tire before this finishes cutting. Think of a handheld tiny chainsaw built into a 3 foot long "gripper thingy". I don't know who allowed this to get through product design and approved it to be made, but this is basically a money grab using the great Worx name. Skip this entirely. ... show more
