  • Finally, an office chair that actually is comfortable, fully adjustable, and affordable Finally, an office chair that actually is comfortable, fully adjustable, and affordable
I went to an office supply store and saw this chair on sale for 20% off its retail price, so I sat in it, adjusted it to fit me, and about 15 minutes later, I realized I was still siting in it because it was so comfortable. I thought I should check Amazon to see what it was going for there and it was $230 less than the retail price, or 45% off! So I ordered it on Amazon. I was concerned that maybe it would be a refurbished chair (especially after reading some reviews of this chair arriving with damage), but when I got it just a day and a half later, it was is perfect condition, well-packaged, with good instructions and everything in the box needed to assemble it. The UPS delivery guy carried the box into my house, which was nice, since it weighed over fifty pounds. I took it up to my study with my wife's help, and started setting it up. I used the box on its tall side as my worktable, and 8 bolts later, after affixing the wheels, I was ready to plug the chair into its gas elevation pedestal. (Hint: it's a good idea to have a standard Phillips head (#2) screwdriver handy to make sure all the screws are tight before assembling it, and then make sure all the assembly bolts are tight (nice that they provide lock washers and spares for all the bolts, along with a good, long-handled Allen wrench). Once assembled, I found it useful to read the adjustment instructions carefully, and to experiment with several different combinations of seat position and back position and tilt tension. The base is very stable and rolls well without marking my hardwood floors (the chair will even roll over to and across the thin area rug in my home office/bedroom, with a little finesse). I find the armrests to be comfortably padded (firm, but just about right for me), and the three armrest adjustments are actually useful. It's easy to raise and lower the arms with four or five different levels to choose from. Now, the best thing about this chair is that it has an integrated seat and back tilt, so when you tilt back the seat tilts back a little, too. Very nice, especially because you can really dial in the back tension, from very firm to very loose. You can also lock out the tilt completely and raise and lower the back to get hit your back and lower shoulders just right. Finally, you can actually move the seat backward or forward relative to the back, base, and armrests, so you can custom fit it to your legs and make it so the back hits and supports your lumbar area just right. Even some super expensive chairs don't offer this feature. So, bottom line, you can really dial this chair in for a custom fit. I'm sitting in it right now, and can feel the cool breeze on my seat and back through the very substantial mesh. ... show more

  • 6 Year review: definitely good enough
This is basically the entry level to luxury office chairs. Like a Longines or a Seiko. It is absolutely functional in all of the most important ways that a herman miller is - the mesh is comfy and reliable (I've been using it WFH for six years), the back support is excellent and sturdy, the rollers are smooth and the adjustment tools are still in good order six years into daily use. I have basically no complaints about any of the above (as a 5'9" man, 200 pounds). The only noticeable wear on the entire chair is the armrest cushions (not the armrests themselves). The cushion has worn somewhat, but in my opinion that is to be expected. It's just foam and easily the least important part of the overall experience to the chair. The armrest wear only began to show about four or five years in. I'd recommend buying a cheap seat cover, made of cloth to help retain the durability of the seat mesh, but otherwise I only have good things to say about it. It's in the same ballpark as the herman miller aeron in terms of overall feel, but definitely a half-step down. That said, it's also nearly a third of the normal price and absolutely good enough for a daily driver for a WFH professional like myself. ... show more

  • Now we're talking!
I just got this chair yesterday. I knew I made a good decision when I took out the allen wrench that comes with it and the wrench is about seven inches long. I mean, you can get some real leverage with that and they didn't go cheap with a short wrench like many manufacturers! The wrench and the few bolts you need to use come in a cardboard/plastic board that is well-marked with images, words and numbers. And they give you a spare for each type of bolt used. They also give you good very easy directions to put the chair together with special clear "warnings" for one step where it would be easy to do the wrong thing. The points to note are (i) it's heavy! I knew that from the box that was delivered - that's good! Lot's of metal and solid plastic, (ii) super easy to put together - less than 15 minutes and only 8 bolts, (iii) solid construction - I had to return a chair because they used one bolt to attach the back to the mainframe - this chair uses a sort-of tongue in groove technique PLUS four bolts! That back is not going anywhere and (iv) limited life-time warranty, with instructions to call the manufacturer if anything goes wrong - with a promise that they will ship parts in 1-2 business days. I'm sitting in the chair now and it's very comfortable and stable. You can adjust total height, armrest height and "direction," distance of seat from mainframe and height of seat back. You can also lock/unlock the back and lean back as far as you would like and then lock it in place. I promise that I paid in full for this chair and don't work for the manufacturer. I just appreciate value. I'll put this chair against any Aeronk/Herman Miller chair (which I've had), and that chair costs something like three times what I paid for this. OK - I think I need to get back to work to pay for the chair :-) - good luck and give this a try. And Mr. manufacturer - keep up the good work - you run a company the way I would . . . . ... show more

  • A great chair that requires a "breaking-in" period.
I'm just nearing the 1-month mark of owning this chair and I have to say that this is a pretty comfortable chair. What really attracted me to it were the number of adjustments it had as well as its discrete design. I am at my desk for pretty much all day up until late at night, going from working at home to gaming; so having something that allows to me sit comfortably was really important to me. This chair has satisfied all my needs but there are a couple of caveats that ought to be considered. 1) During the first couple weeks of using this chair, I found that the front pad that supports underneath your knee was actually too stiff to where it would actually be uncomfortable to sit after a few hours. Keep in mind that I'm 5'7" and even with my chair height properly adjusted, the pad was still too firm and uncomfortable. At first, I thought I was going to have to return it but I decided to give it a bit more time for it to "break in". By the third week, the pad finally "broke in" and now the chair is much more comfortable to sit in. If you are considering to get this chair, do keep this in mind as everyone has a different preferences and body types. 2) By pure preference, I opted to remove the armrests as I like to have my forearms resting on my desk. I found that the length of the armrests allowed me to only get so close to my desk that only my wrists could reach the edge of the desk. However, if you prefer to use the armrests, they are pretty comfort and provide good support. They have a rather soft padding and they don't cut off any circulation. While they do have a pivoting adjustment, I found that they were actually a bit too easy to move at times and there is no locking mechanism to keep them in place. Also, if you are like me and like to sit cross-legged, having the armrests installed still allowed me to do that with ease (again, it should be noted that I'm 5'7"). 3) The build process was pretty easy to follow and rather standard with most office chairs. As far as the build quality is concerned, it's really nice. For the price, you get a nice nylon mesh that supports the back and the seat. While most of the chair is made from plastic, there are metal components for the adjustment points that also add a nice color accent. ... show more

  • Super Quality, Adjustable, Easy to Assemble, Long Lasting Super Quality, Adjustable, Easy to Assemble, Long Lasting
Very Sturdy. Adjustable to fit all body styles. Total quality built. Super easy assembly with 7 screws (allen wrench included) and slide the wheels onto the base. Set the shock into the base and the chair onto the shock. 10mins assembly. I'm 6ft 260 and I have had this same chair at my desk 5 days a week since Nov 2019. Looks/feels new. The mesh bottom does not stretch, sag, mis-shapen. It actually looks and works like new. I added roller blade wheels when new because I'm on a concrete surface and the plastic wheels were noisy on hard surface. I have purchased this chair for 6 people of different sizes and body types and all of them can adjust the chair to have proper support. ... show more

  • Extremely comfortable with several adjustment options
I had an office chair I'd been used for years. It was an inexpensive swivel chair I got at IKEA. It was OK but not designed for all day use. When I started my new job, I began to spend around 10+ hours in my home office. Back and shoulder pain ensued. Saw this chair at a store and it seemed like it was solid construction and comfortable. Weeks later saw the same chair on Amazon so I purchased. It was fairly simple to assemble. The only difficulty is needing a way to place the seat upside down on an elevated surface to attach the arms and back. Not too big of an issue since I had a barstool with a cushion and used that. If I didn't have that, it would have been much more difficult to assemble. The seat, arms, and back are heavy so it has to be something rather sturdy to set it on for assemble. The chair is extremely comfortable. I'm impressed with all of the way it can be adjusted. In particular, I like the ability to move the seat forward/backward which allows me to set the perfect distance from the seat to the back. Initially I thought the arms would be a problem but my wife suggested I adjust them so that my arm rest on the armrest while I use my mouse or type. That is a huge help to prevent knots in between my shoulder blade from forming over hours of typing/mousing. The mesh is nice to keep me cool and the springiness seems to be just right. Looking forward to putting some "miles" on this chair. Initially, I'm thinking this chair is going to quickly become my favorite of all time. ... show more

  • **Updated post** Great chair **Updated post** Great chair
**Updated review*** post tirelessly searching for a chair I finally decided on this one because of reviews. I would have preferred the cushioned seat model but not for the price! Shipping-I received the day after I ordered! Chair hugs my body nice. Two things I am really disappointed by 1) is the slight give in the back rest in lock position which prevents your back from being straight which is a feature I prefer. 2) the mesh on the back, towards lumbar is not taut. I feel it should not look like that and that this could be taking away from Back support. Any feedback on that would be appreciated but it is definitely going to be a call to the manufacturer. Overall decent chair however, I did not get the immediate relief or that ah ha moment that I was looking for with this chair. 3/5/23 updated review-- this chair is by far worth the money I paid for it! 1) slight give in the back support took some getting use to but studies show it takes pressure off of your spine. 2) mesh on the back of chair seriously not a big deal that I wrote about previously. The chair is sturdy and the mesh on this chair is top of the line and offers a lot of support.m and comfort. I work from home and sit in this chair 8-9hours a day. I have a Hx of tailbone pain from sitting in desk chairs but not with this chair. The only thing is my bottom gets a little cold but a $5 chair cover solved that problem but it's better than swap butt. I am very very happy with this chair. Only feature I wish it had is if the arm rests slid forward and backward. Everything else about I love and most important it is comfortable for a long day of tasking! Give it a try you will not be disappointed ... show more

  • Good chair for the money
Assembly was easy. Components are all high quality except for the wheels, which have some chromed plastic on them. I assume this will wear off over time. I'm already looking at replacement possibilities for the wheels (possibly roller-blade style). The only other small issue, which I've seen other people mention, is that while the arm rests can swing in and out, they don't lock in place. There are 3 detents; angled out about 20 deg, straight, and angled in. In each spot there is a bit of slop and the detents don't hold the arm in position very well. It would be an improvement to be able to solidly lock them into position. I've also seen folks in the reviews and questions looking for replacement armrests due to wear or damage. They are soft, which is a good thing for comfort, but perhaps not for durability. Hopefully replacements are available, because I can see using this for a long time. I have never spent this much for a chair so I can't compare it to extremely high end seats. I spend a good bit of time seated for my job, so my thought was to spend a bit more (like my bed). It's is very comfortable. I like the controls and adjustability. It looks good. Overall a solid purchase. ... show more
