  • Great space saving design, strong and sturdy if mounted into a studs
Size: 2 Pack
Needed to get the bikes up of the floor to make more room for my wife's expanding garden tool supply! This rack came up and we decided to give it a try because it doesn't just hang them, it swivels out of the way. Ease of install - my wife did it all by herself while I was working one day! Pretty easy for one person, she said, but an extra set of hands would not hurt. Especially when it comes to lifting the bikes onto the racks. She bolted them directly into the studs in the shed - we both feel THIS is the only way to make them solid and sturdy. Although the set does come with wall anchors you could install, the weight of the bikes on those anchors would most likely rip the rack right out of the wall. I suggest ONLY anchoring into studs. Personal opinion. Lifting the bikes IS a little awkward for me - 6' tall male. My wife cannot currently lift in odd directions, so she didn't try. But watching me, she said she doesn't even know if she will try when she CAN lift again! We did have to take them down and reinstall becasue the rafters were in the way of the tires, but once installed in the final location, they fold nicely out of the way. They don't fold as flat against the wall as some photos showed online, but DEFINITELY an improvement on floor space! They now take up a little space on the back wall, and freed up a 5 ft by 4 ft footprint on the floor! Enough space to store two small tillers, her leaf blower and electric chipper. The holder for the back tire is another store - it is solid and sturdy, however, WE feel it needs to stick off the wall an additional half to whole inch. Our tires are hybrid, and a little thicker than standard tires - we ride on varying surfaces from dirt, blacktop to sand and these tires, being a little more bulky, don't set properly on the back tire holders. I had to use a couple of ball bungees to hold the tires up against the metal loop....This is needed no matter which side we fold the bikes to. Over all this is a GREAT set for our two bikes - she said she would have loved a set of 4 more when the kids were younger, too! It would have been nice to hang ALL her bikes up, she said! VERY convenient. ... show more

  • Better than having my bikes stick out on the garage wall
Size: 2 Pack
I’ve bought a few different bike mounts while I’m reorganizing my garage. Those that have the bike stick out are fine - very sturdy, easy to attach / remove bike, bike doesn’t fall easily. Before these swivel mounts I hadn’t seen anything that didn’t have the bike sticking out into the garage. I only have a 1 - 1 1/2 car garage, so not much aisle room. I currently have 4 bikes and am working on a 5th. I also added a Kayak to things I need to store in my garage, so I was concerned about efficient storage. These swivel mounts will help a lot! So far I’ve only put my bikes on and off and test swiveled a few times, as the Michigan weather is not currently bike friendly. This is a heavy mount, so feels sturdy, swivel works well and the bikes feel securely attached. Of course the handlebars and, to a lesser extent pedals, stick out a bit, but not at a height that gets in my way. Only time will tell how it holds up when I’m riding most days, sometimes several times in a day. I like this well enough that I am going to try another one or two so all my bikes can hang on a swivel. Will probably try another brand, not because there’s anything wrong with this one, but just to compare and see which I like better. ... show more

  • Nice Racks!
Size: 2 Pack
I have a lot of bicycles and I have used the standard el cheapo bike hook to store them for many years. Seeing an opportunity to improve I ordered two of the Wiwilron brand and two of another brand. The Wiwilron brand shows the racks being used to store mountain bikes (though it mentions that they can be used to "...can hold your mountain bikes, road bikes, and kids bikes.") The other brand shows road bikes in all their photos but says "...hold your mountain bikes, road bikes and kids bikes." It turns out that both brands are absolutely identical, including the box, the packaging, the instructions and the product itself. For what it is worth, I can confirm that this product will hold "...mountain bikes, road bikes, and kids bikes." These racks are of good quality. The workmanship is good. There is a part of the design that I questioned -- the hook. With the old style bike hook, the hook actually partially encircles the rim. With these racks, the rim kind of rests on the side of the hook rather than capturing the rim. I was concerned that it would be easy for the rim to slide off the hook. While I am not yet fully convinced, upon testing the hypothesis, I found that, in spite of my worries, the rim does not seem to fall off the hook even when I tried to induce it to do so. I'm going to watch for this over time and if I see anything of concern, I will report it here. But for now, I am reasonably satisfied that my bicycles will not be crashing to the floor. The thing I really like about these racks is that they swivel. (I would say "swing") but the Amazon say swivel so swivel it is.) This is hugely helpful when your bicycles are (as mine are) closely packed, one bike per stud on 16" centers. It makes it much easier to extract or store a bicycle from the middle of the bunch. All-in-all, these racks are a definite improvement over the old school bike hooks. Now, let's talk about the instructions. First, it is worth noting that these racks actually come with instructions. This should not be a notable thing but sadly, way too many products are shipped without any instructions whatsoever. So kudos for Wiwilron for including instructions. These instructions do fairly good job of describing the steps needed to install these racks. What they do not do is say anything about important details like what size holes to drill. (Not big deal for me since I know how to find out but less experienced installers might find this information helpful.) It would be nice to know that the bolt heads are 11mm and that the large wall anchors (the instructions call them "screw expansion tubes") are 10mm x 50mm. Yep, the mounting hardware is metric. (The good news is that 10mm is very close to 25/64" and 11mm is very close to 7/16". You can make it work if your drills and sockets are in inches.) One other thing to note is that the instructions make no distinctions about mounting these racks in different materials. The instructions say to drill a hole, hammer the "screw expansion tube" into the wall and then mount the rack. This is the right thing to do when mount to concrete walls or walls that are hollow. But if mounting to wooden studs, one should not use the wall anchors but rather it is better to screw directly into the wood of the stud. The Amazon page says "The installation is very simple, you can complete it in five minutes." Installation is very simple, but even after I had installed a few and had the process down pretty well, it took me ten minutes to install one rack. ... show more
