The media could not be loaded. Thule screwed up by replacing the double decker surfboard rack with this sup taxi. Though it says it will carry a surfboard, it does so ver loosely and unsafely. It is way too wide and loose. My surfboard is a 9'6", 24 inches wide and it is loose as sin. The thule 809 was a much better design. This is not a surfboard carrier. If you are looking to carry one surfboard, this is not good. It will probably hold 2 surfboards well, but I dont always need 2 boards. So disappointed in Thulem I have 3 Double deckers on my other cars. Bought this for my new car and am returning it. Have to find another carrier.

Bought this rack for my wife’s Great Lakes paddle board and mounted it on her 2019 Honda CRV. I was Willing to pay more for a rack for High brand quality. I wanted security/safety and easy/quick loading and unloading because my wife paddles a lot and transports her board all over. 4 pros: 1) Easy to install and remove the assembled rack on the Honda CRV crossbars 2) Love the adjustable width feature Of the rack and the security of both the crossbar attachment and straps. SUP fits perfect on the rack. I can also usurp it more my kayak. 3) Thule replaced a strap for me Immediately with no questions asked when one of the 2 racks right out of the box wouldn’t easily in-feed the strap (securing the board to the rack). 4) The rack is quiet with no vibration while at speed on the road with a SUP attached. 3 cons: 1) The assembly directions For this rack system use symbology only (no words) and as such are insufficient..,it took me twice as long as it should have to assemble the racks out of the box. I got it right by watching a video. Be careful to get the locks installed correctly or you’ll waste time reworking a mistake. 2) My wife is 5’ 6” tall and can’t load her SUP easily on this rack herself due to the Car+crossbar + rack‘s overall height. So we bought a suction cup roller “kayak load assist unit” for the CRVs rear windshield ~ $40. Works great. 3) The strap assembly on one of the racks (as mentioned above) did not feed right out of the box but Thule customer service took care of that with no hassle.

I like that the board is secure. I forgot the board was attached and noticed I was doing 80mph, glanced at the board and we were humming right along. No the not so good stuff. I’m sure this is a great fact for someone at least 5’5”. I’m a 5’ short female. I wish I had bought the Inno rack. This would save going back and forth and moving and climbing the foot stool to make sure the straps are straight, the rubber board protectors are in place, the lock the rack. The mechanics of the rack required some strength to operate. But now that the board has been on my car there shouldn’t be a need for adjustments. But getting it set-up was a pain, going back and forward, picking up the board with one hand and pressing the stiff mechanism with the other while need a third hand. Bottline, being short I always look for ways to use leverage.. that is basically impossible with this rack. The inno rack has build in ratching, no need to go from side to side of your car, etc. so I will probably be selling this rack and buy another brand.

Couldn't be happier. Took literally 10 minutes to install and that included unpacking! Before (with conventional straps) it took 15 minutes to secure my board to the crossbars. Now I throw it in the SUP Taxi and I'm on the road in 5 minutes tops. I find myself boarding more just because it takes so much less time to undo and re-secure. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner.

One thing I didn’t consider, it’s tougher to get my board on top because I need to raise it about 6 inches higher to clear the top. The wind noise is noticeable but I’ll get used to it. They don’t seem as rigid (They move back and forth) as I thought but I don’t think it’s going anywhere. It holds my boards, straps are very secure. I like the lock feature, if I go out to eat or something after I paddle, I am confident my boards will not be stolen. The shipping took a few weeks which was a bummer. Overall I’m happy with the product.

Thank you Thule for providing ease and peace of mind! First time cargo rack users, we took a chance at this product to carry my 11ft SUP on a 12 hour drive up to the lake house. Obvious from my headline that we were very happy with our purchase. Product is excellent quality, super easy to put on the vehicle and once tied to the front, we never had to adjust the entire trip! I was also impressed at what little noise we experienced inside the truck while driving, if any noise at all! I have already recommended this carrier to several friends! 🏄🏻♀️💙

I’m pretty torn on how I feel about this. The buttons on side that you push in to release straps seem very cheap. I honestly don’t see it hold up too long. I do need to give it some time and will update, because I really want to like it.

I bought this Thule SUP Taxi for my new ISLE Voyager 11' 6" Hard paddle board (which I LOVE!). It is very simple to put on the board and take it off and it is very secure when driving. Although the straps do "lock" with the board on top, I wouldn't leave it unattended as there are just straps and a thief could cut them and take my board (also ruining the straps/rack). But as a 60+ year old who grew up surfing, these racks are dang nice!
