Helm chair is constructed with thick wall rotational molded plastic frame with pre- mounted plastic injection molded mounting plate with T-Nut inserts. Snap on and off cushions have high compression foam padding with mesh underlay to expel moisture. Marine Grade vinyl with heavy duty welting, embossed vinyl surface and embroidered logo. Removable padded arm rest cushions. Pedestal features polished cast aluminum 9" base plate with recessed knurled mounting holes. 2 7/8" diameter thick wall extruded aluminum post. Cast aluminum seat mount swivels 360 degrees and locks down tight. Seat slide constructed of extruded aluminum with 5" of fore and aft travel. These seats are extremely comfortable and look great. I use them in my fishing boat. They are a great size. I have one guy that sits in them and he's pushing 300 pounds. Even he fits good in the chair and tells me how comfortable they are. My only complaint is the adjustable pedestal. I love them because they are adjustable. But, if you raise it too high, they are very noisy/squeky. I also keep thinking that they are going to break when motoring out in the high seas of the Pacific.. but hey haven't yet.     • UPDATED FROM ONE STAR - A recliner for your boat.
I purchased 2 of these to go on my 1961 PowerCat 18dc restoration. Don't every buy a seat on line you did not try off line! You can not tell by the picture, but the back of this seat is very reclined and provides no support when under way. Unfortunately I purchased this months ago and only finished the floor recently. Way out of return. You end up sitting forward the entire time because of the angle of the seat back. I hope that when i post these for sale on another web site the future owner does not see this review! Also, the adjustments are horrible. To raise or lower the seat you need to remove the seat, adjust the height, and put the seat back on the base. It is not designed that way, but unless you have a second person to pull up on the seat while you hold the pin that releases the post it is not possible to move the seat. The two sections of the post make creaking noises when you sit on the seat. I've tried dry lubricant. I've tried grease. But nothing stops the creaking where the two aluminum tubes connect. This is a terrible seat! UPDATE------------------ To fix the squeaking post was simple. I disassembled the entire pedestal, sanded the interior of the posts because they had burs, and applied a small amount of grease to the lock. Also, when I reinstalled the pedestal, i placed the lock knob towards the front. That way the lock isn't stressed side to side. So now, it is quiet. But i had to do some finish work that could have been completed on a $300 seat before I bought it. Wise would get 5 stars if i could rate the company. While working on the problem of the recline angle one of the snaps popped right off the padding. I contacted them and they shipped me an entire set of replacement cushions! No questions, other than sending them a picture and now i have an entire replacement set. So i would say Wise support is great. Other products of theirs have been great. I just do not like this seat. I have cut a wedge of Styrofoam to place behind the back rest pad. I made straps with snaps on to extend the top of the seat pad. If this works out i'll send it to a shop to get a custom pad. Then hopefully i can live with these seats. ... show more

This a beautiful pilot chair, however, it is definitely too small in width for any person hips, it need to be made wider. The chair cost too much to be this narrow. The manufacturer design with the cushions on the armrest should have taken into consideration more width in the seating because of that. The back leans too much and should be straight especially while a person is driving the boat need to see in the water while piloting. My husband can't sit in the chair, he have to stand simply because of leaning, height, and narrow seat. A bit disappointed, a seat that barely fit a 120-180 lb person. ... show more

    • Armrest cushion issues
Wise makes a good quality chair and mount kit here but looses stars with the armrest cushions. Utilizing a single snap they easily fall off when bumped. Plan to add a couple snaps after your purchase. Also the armrest cushions received do not seem as robust and sized the same as the item pictures.
