My front door has a wired doorbell that stopped working several years ago. I can either hire an electrician to fix it or I can get a wireless doorbell. The latter is definitely cheaper. The advantage to this doorbell is that it has two receivers, so that you can place them in two rooms. In my case, that means placing one in the living room and one in the master bedroom, thereby guaranteeing that I can hear it wherever I am in the house. Note: At the time I write this, the description for this product is that it has "2 Push Buttons," which at first led me to believe that it had two separate doorbells controlling a single receiver. As noted above, it's the reverse: one doorbell controlling two receivers. Initial impressions: - It's a bit smaller than I expected but looks nice. - When centrally located, the sound from one receiver is loud enough to be heard throughout the house, although dimly enough in the upstairs bathroom that I doubt I'll hear it if I'm taking a shower. That problem is solved by having the second receiver. - 32 ringtones offer quite a variety of options. The sound quality is about what you'd expect from a device of this nature. - The color ring on the receiver flashes when the chime plays, so you have a visual as well as an audio cue. Installing the doorbell was straightforward. As I have rough wood where I want this installed, I chose to use the provided screws rather than the two-sided tape. A couple of quick holes made by my cordless drill, some turns of a screwdriver, and it was installed quite solidly. If you have the right surface, installation with the tape is even easier. The doorbell and one of the receivers are on opposite sides of the house and on different floors, but there was no problem with the signal. While the instructions provide details on how to pair the doorbell and receivers, I didn't need them, as they arrived paired up. I plugged in the receivers, pushed the doorbell button, and the chimes sounded. Prying apart the doorbell to get at the back so that I could install it, or to get access to the CR2032 battery to replace it, was a bit of a pain. You have to pry the front piece off the doorbell (a small screwdriver is provided to help with this) to get access. Let's hope that the battery lasts a long time. The IP55 rating means that it can handle being rained on or splashed, e.g., with a hose, but not immersed. Overall, I like the doorbell. Pairing and installing was easy, there are multiple volume levels and multiple chime choices, it's reasonably attractive, and it works where I placed it. The extra receiver is really nice, as it provides added security that I'll hear the doorbell wherever I am. For what you get, the current price ($9.99) is terrific. Recommended.
