This order was my 6th WiOn smart plug which I installed at my daughter's condo. My first 5 were from a liquidation store where it was sold at same price reduction. Despite its bulky size compared to newer ones in the market like my other Wemo plug, the WiOn is so easy to install and set up via its WiOn app. It only loses a star because somehow I could not get it recognized by my Google Home and Alexa app. It used to be by GH which still lists WiOn as among the devices it recognizes. Easy to install, the app work find, only one issue after a power outage for few minutes and the power was restarted this device lock and stop working, I was able to unlocked after unplugged for the power wai for few minutes reset and reinstalled the app, them was back working.

I’ve used these for several years and they used to be great I’d give them 5 stars except the app doesn’t work with iOS 16, devices installed before iOS 16 will work but you cannot edit them or add additional devices. Woods WiOn has not announce a fix for this problem that I can find. If you don’t want to wait for the update or try KASA I have their light switches which work nice but not as versatile as the WiOn. ... show more

    • Simple-Quick Landscape Lighting Automation

10 minutes to install and test the system. My original low voltage landscape lighting unit is "ole school" dial timer switch. Each season I would painstakingly remove the timer pegs to align with the new dusk/dawn (sunrise-sunfall). Most times it was miss instead of hit. I would play with these pegs and finally get it right-so lights come on just at night fall. Just as I got it timed right, it is time to change seasons(daylight savings central time-zone USA). 1.Installed the free app. 2. Plugged the WiON directly in electrical outlet where landscape light box was previously plugged 3. Plugged light box into Wion 4. In App setup the "on & off" times according to local sunset-sunrise data. 5 Sit back enjoy hands- free control of landscape lights. First attempt in getting this item to function was highly successful. Also noticed that I could manually control the lights with my smartphone through the free APP. This coming Fall season, I can simply see what time it gets dark and go to the app and set that time for each day of the week.     • Will not install with latest IOS

Had several of these and they worked great. Got 2 more and couldn't get them to work, after an hour troubleshooting with different iPhones and different IOS, I found they won't work with the newest IOS. So now I have a second phone with an old IOS version just to operate the lights. Support has known about the issue but have no ETA on a fix date. From the app revisions this app is hardly updated. So now I'm switching to another brand. I will keep the ones I have and maybe in a year the issue will get fixed and I can give them to someone. ... show more

    • Works well. Set up is frustrating because it doesn’t work first or 10th try.

These work really well. The set up instructions are simple to follow but the technology will not work first try. You will need a lot of patience to get it to work. If it seems to be more trouble to set up than it’s worth, hang in there. You’ll have to repeat the same steps over and over and over. Then wait. Their technology takes a while to catch up with your prompts. It will finally work. Once it’s set up, it works extremely well. The app is easy to use once set up. ... show more

    • Works great but the App could be improved

This product works well. I have about 8 of them. The 2 improvements I would like to see both involve the app (Android). First when you aetup more devices according the device you is a bit too cumbersome. 2nd I wish the scheduler would let you just set individual on and off times rather than in pairs. This would make mixing astronomical and program (time) based easier. For example I want a schedule to start 15 before sunset and turn off at 11 pm. This requires creating 2 schedules, on that tunes off the switch 16 mins before sunset then on at 15 mins before sunset. A second schedule to turn the outlet on at 10:59 then off at 11:00. ... show more
