After getting a new AC unit when the old one died, we asked the technician if we should cover it over winter. He said not to cover the whole thing because that attracts vermin who like to nest in the protected, warm spaces beneath the cover. He suggested a cover over the top to keep leaves and sticks out of the fan but to leave the sides open. This was easy to put on and take off with the included bungee cords. The hardest part was getting it centered the first time. Now that I’ve removed it, I folded it so that the creases from where it was pulled down over the sides will be in place for next fall. I also put a small, upside down, empty plastic takeout bowl in the center of the top of the AC unit before putting the tarp on to prevent puddling when the snow melted- worked great. ... show more

It keeps the leaves out of the air conditioner in the fall. I like that it is not a full cover as I read that it is not recommended to fully cover an air conditioner.

Great item fit as it should, good quality so no problem there. Caution: The end tips of the metal hooks are covered with a small slip over plastic piece. It may come off when trying to remove the cover front the side vents of unit. Just be careful when readjusting.
