I bought this because the ac unit that I bought didn’t fit my sliding window. I have severe arthritis in my hands and thought I was going to have to ask my brother to come install it for me but was pleasantly surprised. It was so easy to put together and is suitable for just about any window since it has three adjustable sections that fit together easily. Whoever wrote the review about using pipe foam to seal the edges you are absolutely correct. I bought 1/2 pipe foam from Menards and it sealed the edges perfectly. Also was able to use the 5.9 hose connector that came with the pelonies air conditioner. Just had to drill one small hole. Thanks for recommending it. ... show more

First, I'll address what my concerns were when buying this after reading the reviews; 1) Is it truly "Universal?" Yes. It will work with both clockwise and counter-clockwise hoses. 2) Is it going to be difficult to install the hose? No. Lots of reviewers complaining about how difficult it is to get a 5" hose to fit inside the "threads". It may be, if you don't have the right tools (see photographs). If you have a pair of long reach curved jaw needle-nose pliers, it's very easy. Just extend the hose so the ribs are showing, set the ribs on one of the sets of threads, then use the needle-nose pliers to pull the hose ribs over the other set of threads. It literally took me less than a minute. 3) Will it fit into my double-hung window casement properly? No. Thus the 4 stars. The adjustable casement sleeves, though durable, sit too low in the casement for the hose to attach properly (see photo). I will need to come up with a shim for it to set on for the window to close properly. Pros: Durable, very flexible length for proper window fitment. Fits hose well. Cons: Shim may be required for proper fitment in deeper window casements. Expensive for what you are actually getting, which is 4 pieces of plastic (for the 60" kit) and 4 set screws. Although, if I needed one, I'd spend the money again just so I know that I'm getting a quality kit. ... show more

Assembly is intuitive if you are mechanically inclined and have used T-slot joinery. I would seal the edges to the sliding door and door frame to get an airtight seal.

We bought the 90". Adapts to.our portable HVAC perfectly and fits well with our very tall patio door! We are in Central Florida. During storm outtages we can run our portable 14,000 BTU off of the generator. You seal it with foam tape and ot works great!!

First, it didn't fit our hose. We had to Frankenstein it with duct tape and old parts to get it to work. Then had to buy two extra rolls of foam tape to fill the gaps. Finally got it working. The screws do not hold it securely so it keeps sliding back together, leaving it too short. And, the finish is slick so the foam tape keeps coming off. Save your money, use a think piece of ply-wood or styrofoam instead. ... show more
