Now that this 6000 BTU window air conditioner from Electactic is up and running, it's doing a pretty good job so far, but I did have some issues with it. PROS: Despite the issues listed below, this unit is doing a great job of cooling the room down. We really needed it after our old window unit died, and so far, it's been wonderful. I also really like that I can use it to dehumidify the room when I don't need to run the AC, but the air has gotten too muggy. That's a really nice touch. Size-wise, it's perfect. It fits my window wonderfully, and the side panels even have some room to extend more if I need them to. Price wise, it is comparable to other large brand-name 6000BTU window air conditioners with dehumidifying features. The remote control works very well and has more sturdy buttons than my last unit had. My last one ran on a button battery and was very flat with connected buttons. The buttons gave out after a year of use, and the remote became useless. This one is bigger but has real pressable buttons. I also like that you need a screwdriver to open it, so I don't have to worry about my 4-year-old son getting into the battery compartment if he gets a hold of it. CONS: My unit clearly had some issues in transit. The top rail came very bent/warped on one end, and it had to be bent back into shape before it could be installed. Some of the foam on this piece had stuck to the container and had torn off onto the cardboard. I also had issues with getting the 3/8" screws into the holes of the main unit. I ended up having to put them in the main unit first to help open the holes more, then take them back out and put them back with the top rail added. There were some issues with the directions as well, like with the lock frame pieces. The direction pictures show them incorrectly oriented, and also show the person screwing them down where there is no hole for the screw. They state in the picture that this is where the 3/8" screws will be used, but they were already used for the top rail. The worded directions say to correctly use the 3/4" screws for this part, resulting in conflicting information between the pictures and the worded directions. There were more mistakes that I found as I looked, but that was the biggest one that I noticed. This unit is also pretty loud compared to my old window unit. You definitely know when the compressor is running, and it tends to drown out a lot of other things, like people talking or music playing. We had further issues getting it tilted enough, and at first, when we put it in, we had water come into the window. It took some serious rearrangement to get it tilted enough, even though we don't have storm windows (which the directions warn about). Turns out we have a more flat standard window sill and not a dropped window sill. So be aware of what type you have when you go to place this unit in your own window. Overall, this is a nice window-mounted air conditioner. Time will tell how long it lasts, and if it can survive the winters while covered, but for now, I am happy with this product.

So far, very pleased with this item and I feel the price is fair. Box arrived in good shape, no damage on anything. Everything was in the box as it should’ve been and nothing was missing. It powered on just fine and it does in fact blow out cool air! Haha. Our biggest complaint with it is that the remote has a very short range. It needs to be within a foot or so of the machine in order to work (which almost defeats the purpose of having a remote). And my husband thought it was stupid that they put a really tiny screw to hold the battery compartment on the remote closed. So tiny it is comparable to a screw in a pair of eyeglasses. He took that out and did not put it back; I think he even threw it away. He has mounted it to the side of our enclosed deck so that it will blow cool air under there for the stray cats who live in our neighborhood. It’s already cooler under there than in other places around the house right now, so he’s hoping that will make them more comfortable. Overall, the air conditioner is easy to use and adjust the temperature. The only hangup is the range of the remote. It seems like it’s pretty quiet to me, but I will say it’s kind of hard to tell with it outside now. And it seems like the quality is good, nothing seemed cheap about it at all. 4/5

With the summer heat becoming harder to ignore and spending most of my time in one room due to working from home, I decided to give this a try. Let me tell you, this is my best decision so far, and I am so glad I got this window AC. My room isn’t really that huge, but it can get pretty warm easily (cape house). The installation part was pretty simple and straightforward. The instructions manual is very clear and includes the step by step process. The unit fit perfectly into the window frame, and the side panels sealed everything nicely to keep out hot air, insects, or water. This works on a regular standard outlet, and the installation process from a-z took me about less than an hour. What I like about this most is the remote control, it is super convenient and very handy. In my case, it's huge because my window is located across from my desk, so it's pretty nice to control temperature while sitting or when laying on the couch without the need to get up and go adjust it. Also, this AC looks great, so whether it is installed at the living room or just a room, it does look great. It has a pretty decent design. Another thing I like a lot is the noise level, this one is so quiet comparing to the last one I have, and I can keep it running at night without really being bothered. I think this is so worth it, and definitely would recommend it.

The media could not be loaded. This unit has been a lifesaver with how hot our room gets. It works very well and cools quickly. The unit itself is durable; the insert to seal the window, not as much. As you can see in the pictures we used HVAC duct tape to properly seal the window. The slide out window seal loosely fits and bugs and debris were getting right in. The noise is pretty high, similar to being in a hotel room. It was very easy to install, just not as sealed as I wanted. The current cost with the discount is fair, but the full price is a bit much for the window seal that comes with it.
