I bought this for our grandkids, all under 5 y.o. I originally looked at larger, more expensive hoops hoping to find one that could be lowered sufficiently for our current needs but that could be raised to regulation height as the kids aged. I gave up on this approach: they couldn't be lowered enough, or installation was awful, or they were way too expensive. I decided to go with a dedicated little kids hoop which we will eventually replace when the kids get older. This model seemed like a good balance between features and price, but I was prepared to be disappointed. Instead, I was surprised as I assembled it. The design and manufacture quality seemed pretty good. Installation was clear and trouble-free. I won't know how it resists rust until it's been outside all season; I've got my fingers crossed. Note that in the photo, the hoop can be lowered quite a bit more...just enough for my 2 year old to barely tip the ball into the hoop. It's currently set for my 4 y.o., and it can be raised quite a bit for the next few years. The cinder block probably isn't needed but I'm not taking any chances. I highly recommend that you buy a container of Base Gel to ensure that the base doesn't freeze, crack, and/or leak. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is a simple and efficient basketball hoop for 5 to 10 year old. The hoop is a standard size but the backboard is designed for size 3 balls (a size 5 could work). Let's be honest, this is a simple starter hoop for the little ones. I recommended using sand over water, at $6 for a 14 lbs bag, it will fill the base up nicely. Also, there are 2 different positions. Generally speaking people prefer the base facing away, while some have the base protruding underneath the basket. For the price and nothing you would keep for decades down the road, this basketball hoop is adequate for little kids at a fair price. My 6 y/o grandson is just learning and he likes it. ... show more

This is perfect to have on the edge of the in ground pool. It would be better if the base was a little bigger, even filled with water - it tends to tip forward without having added weight on top of it. The backboard is smaller than expected, my fault for not pulling out a tape measure. If you have small kids or people who don’t have the best aim - a set with a bigger backboard would work better so you’re not having to get out and track down all the balls if they miss. ... show more

I purchased 2 for both my Grandsons (age 3 and 4) I choose this one because of the adjustable height and this one was what I had in mind for them. The lowest setting is perfect for their age. So far so good. My son filled it with water and all good so far seeing as it will be for outside. My other son plans on keeping it in the house to play with for now so not sure what he will fill it with or just use a weight on the back. But, I’m very pleased the kids enjoy it seeing as they put it up today. I also ordered 7” pop a shot balls for them since they have lil hands. And I wanted something that’s like a real basketball feel. I don’t have any pics yet since they FaceTimed me to show me but I’m really glad I choose this one! I’m a BIG researcher when it comes to choosing gifts for the babies.. and I’m so glad I went with this one. And remember this was for a 3yr and 4yr old. We bought this goal a year ago and the ‘shatterproof’ goal just shattered. Super frustrating and disappointing because this goal was for a 9 and 11 year old so it’s not like they were dunking on it or anything. A shatterproof goal should last more than a year with kids shooting on it.
