The installation seems a bit intimidating but it's actually not difficult. I'll jump to the best outcome: the used door (Florida, impact glass is outrageously expensive so I bought a used door and saved $1100) now looks modern and spiffy, not tired., because the lock is sharp. Oh, and it works. You can open the door with your phone. Even better, you can input a special code for a tradesman or cleaner - and then you can see when they came in! Give your teenager a unique code - and you know what time THEY got in at night. I don't know how long the batteries last, but here's a couple of hints. First, make sure you use new batteries for the first installation. Otherwise, pairing to your phone app (it seems to use both Next Lock or TTL, two apps you'll find at the apple store) won't work. Next, don't be daunted by their toll-free voicemail "we are open 9 pm to 6 am" . Say what? Relax, it's okay. They are in China. They will email and call you, probably sooner than that schedule. Very nice, pretty good English, eager to handle any issue. The lock uses a key as well. So you have phone (bluetooth), key, and the keypad. There is also a WIfi gateway, but it must be within 10 of both your router and the door, which might not fit your house plan. When you install it, the tong thing from the outside has to be horizontal when you slide it in the bolt assembly. Otherwise, it will refuse to let you take the key out. You might need 3 hands to install it, but once you see how it goes, 2 hands work okay. So far, I am really liking this lock. ... show more

Let me say from the start, I've had three of these locks for 4 months and have no regrets buying them. The locks still work. I like the app. The customer service is fantastic. You will need somebody handy to help you install this - at least I did. It's complicated. As far as functionality, it works the way it needs to. The inside lock turns smoothly. I had to buy two of the gateway squares separately from these locks so that all three locks' signals could reach to my router. The gateways are small enough that I've hidden them behind other objects in the toy room and kitchen. They just need an outlet. So many features I love! I absolutely love that I can lock and unlock remotely. That was key for me. I also like that I was able to set up the front door to auto lock after 5 minutes but didn't have to do that to all the locks because you can set different settings for each lock. Also, you can name each code. I have four on each door and don't know if there's a limit. When I set a time limit on one of the codes, it worked the way I set it up. I'm able to see which family member entered my house when, based on which code was used, which pops up in my notifications immediately. That makes me feel even safer. I set up four digit codes, though they can be much longer (who can remember a random 8 digit number??). The app is good, easy to navigate and use, aside from a few issues that I've had, but both times I have contacted customer service and they fixed the problem. I have never tried to use the keys, so I can't speak to that. My biggest complaint right now is probably the battery life. I've had these installed for four months and have already had to change the batteries on the back door twice (despite that one being used rarely), the front door once (code used at least once a day), though I haven't had to change the batteries in the garage door yet (code rarely used). I did have an issue getting rechargeable AAs inside the lock. Strangely enough, the batteries just barely didn't fit - too big. I'm not sure if the problem was the batteries or the size of the space in the lock. I have no desire to look for another lock.     • Keyless Lock that has demonstrated Reliable WiFi Remote Access for Lock Operation

I purchased this lock to compare Remote Access/WiFi smart locks. I have a Yale Assure, Schalge Encode and this lock. The Yale is a smooth operating lock with decent battery life but with very poor WiFi connectivity reliability. The Schlage is a good look, smooth operation, and has good Wifi connectivity and reliability but the battery life is about 3 weeks. This Hornbill lock so far has had great battery life, great WiFi connectivity reliability, and decent/smooth operation (the motorized retraction is a bit lax, not retracting the bolt lock always fully, but so far enough to not cause a door interference problem. So far the Hornbill is outperforming over the 4 month period. ... show more

we bought the Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Smart Lock, Keyless Entry Smart Front Lock, Hornbill Touch Screen Keypads, App Control, Auto Lock, Compatible with Alexa, and Remotely Control (Included G2 Gateway). We installed the lock and plugged in the hornbill Wi-Fi gateway that was included to control via the App remotely. The automatic lock (set to your preferred time works wonderfully). Is responsive to open and close in-person and opens fast. It looks good too. We contacted customer service to ask for help adding the app with the lock to 2 phones (iPhone and Android) and left a voice mail. Summer called back that same night and helped us set everything up. She was helpful and courteous. ... show more
