  • Whyter out door in-cabinet ice maker
Style: Ice Maker
I purchased this unit almost 6 months ago and was extremely happy with its performance, but then it stopped working. Since we were going away for several weeks, I shut it off. When we returned, I turned it back on and checked on it several hours later and it was back making ice again. Just prior to dinner, I opened up the ice maker door and steam poured out. It red hot inside and the ice bucket was filled with water. After a quick call to Amazon, they told me it was a 3rd party sale and would get me over to Whyter technical support. I was all set for a “sorry I can’t help you”. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to speak to very lovely person who politely.asked me to explain the problem and take a few pictures of the front & back of the unit and include the purchase & shipping info. She then asked if I would remove it from the cabinet, plug it in and have it go through one ice making cycle and call her back. I called her back and tol her that it did not get hot or cold. It appeared to be dead. She thanked for the info, asked for my shipping address and said they would ship me out a new one within the next few days. A day later she e-mailed me to tell me the unit was ready for pick up and the next day she told me that it was picked up and gave me the tracking info. You never like having a problem with your purchase, but it’s not often that you can say that getting a resolution was quick, efficient and painless. It was. Thank you, Whyter, ... show more

  • Total waste of money!!! DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
Style: Ice Maker
DO NOT BUY THIS!!! We have had this ice maker for 3 months. It freezes up and stops making ice. It is past the return time with Amazon. I had to got to the manufacturer and they are not helping. We have been back and forth via email and they keep telling me that we are not meeting all the specks. For example, my water pressure may be too strong (it should be a specific psi. Also they are saying that I have too much humidity in the air. This is in an airconditioned house. Do not risk your money buying this product!! At this point it is an incredibly small freezer that does not make ice and needs defrosting ALL the time!!!!!!!!! Total waste of money!!! ... show more

  • Great Ice Machine
Style: Ice Maker
Reasonably quiet, great price and makes plenty of ice. This is our second unit. The first one lasted 17 years.

  • Good ice maker
Style: Ice Maker
This is the third unit I bought. The first one lasted 5-6 years, the second one lasted only 2 years to the date so my hope is that this unit will last 5-6 years also. This ice maker works well if you don’t live in a humid place or have it outside, since mine is outside under a cover area. The ice makers seal dose not hold well and the ice forms all over and every once in a a while you will need to turn of the ice maker and let it unfreeze. Other than that it makes quality ice and no need for a drain. Also the price has increased so much from when I first purchased one to now but that’s the world we live in nowadays. If memory serves me right I bought the first one 8 years ago and I paid like $200-250 now it is $400. In conclusion, I would recommend this ice maker to anyone just be cautious of where you place it. ... show more

  • Highly recommended!
Style: Ice Maker
This is our second unit. It has worked well for us. We purchased the first Whynter UIM155 ice maker for pur boat in 2013, replacing the built in unit. It has lasted 12 years and has worked great. This boating season we noticed that unit was becoming more noisy. Also, flakes if the ice mold coating was coming off. So we decided to get a new one. I was very glad to see that Whynter still made the same model, same dimensions ensuring it would fit. We have been very pleased with the performance of this ice maker. ... show more

  • Biggest purchase disappointment ever
Style: Ice Maker
If I can give us a zero I would. I purchased this about five months ago. It started acting up about three weeks to a month ago shutting off not producing ice . When it did get some ice it wouldn’t freeze and the ice would melt then it went dead. Couldn’t turn it on the compressor. Wouldn’t come on so on so forth. Contacting Wynter to get it resolved they told me to take it apart. Check this check that and I wasn’t going to start taking the unit apart . I am not taking anything apart . Then unfortunately,lI didn’t read the reviews prior to purchase, I started reading reviews and found a lot of people have the same problem. They just go dead after a couple months so if you want to spend almost $400 on a piece of crap and then get absolutely no satisfaction from the company purchases this. ... show more
