I ordered this so i could freeze some food during the Pandemic. I'm 72 years old and don't really like going out right now. Was excited to buy this freezer but was very disappointed when the door wouldn't close. (6" from shutting(. I made sure it was level but that didn't help. Decided to take the door off and change the way it opened, thinking that might help. But the screws are too tight to turn. I called Whynter and they were no help. Told me to call who i bought it from and get it replaced. Not even a suggestion. No help whatsoever. So i called Amazon and they aren't taking calls. Sure, i can do a return but how am i suppose to pick it to take it to UPS? I'm a 72 yr old woman with health issues, I live alone and ordered this because I'm under self quarantine. i can't afford to lose $189. Talk about being thoroughly disappointed. UPDATE: Since returing for a replacement was impossible and i could reach no one i decided to try something else. I used a drop of sewing machine oil, let it sit and finally got the screws loose. Turns out the manufacturer tightened the hinge but did not make sure the post on the door was in the hole. Once i was able to pop it where it belonged, the door shut. They had to know this ad they taped the door shut, not an easy task. Definitely not Amazon's fault, it was sloppy work by the manufacturer. In addition their customer service was terrible. As a truck driver, it's really depressing to either use a thermoelectric cooler that keeps food 40 degrees below the temperature of the surrounding area. That means that the inside temp can and will fluctuate dramatically, depending on how warm my cab is. Coolers filled with ice wind up being coolers filled with water and waterlogged food. That's why I bought this freezer. PERFECT size for a few single serving size packs of meat, 6-8 bottles of water that once frozen replace ice that just melts and has to be dumped out, AND for the first time in my trucking career, ICE CREAM! The freezer works WONDERFULLY, takes up minimal space and has made me happier than a loud air horn! ... show more

I rarely post a review, but have come to learn that the negative ones can be the most important ones and I sure wished I'd trusted them. Nobody, including myself, complains when something is working good. But it's when a product breaks down that you find out just how good the manufacturer is. I am out of warranty, and I received the freezer as a gift for a brand new bar I had built in my home. I understand things don’t last forever, however, you would hope it would be more than a year and a half to two years. Maybe this unit should be advertised as “May work great for a long time, or may not make it much past the warranty! Buyer beware!!” Bet their sales would go way down….. So, upon contacting Whynter, they were more than polite both on the phone, as well as in their emails. After giving me a list of possible problems, I responded that none of them applied and that my freezer was cold, but not freezing. After several more emails back and forth, I truly believe they did not read them, or didn't care, as when I finally responded: "Since you: “take all feedback seriously” and “all positive and negative feedback is reviewed by Senior Management”, let them know that I agree with the other reviewers that said Whynter customer service was polite but completely useless and there are other manufacturers that truly care about their customers. " Their response was: Thank you for your reply. We apologize that the unit is not freezing and appreciate the feedback. We would be happy to begin troubleshooting with you despite the unit being out of warranty." They went on to give me some of the same instructions that I had already told them didn't work! No matter how negative my feedback was to them about my freezer quitting working after being in the exact same location and untouched, they would just reply with the same things to check that I had checked and told them two emails ago. Even after telling them: "you can close out my ticket, as I just ordered another freezer so I would have it in time for the super bowl this Sunday. I would be really upset if I waited another day or two emailing back and forth and not have a freezer for the game." They again replied thanking me and telling me to troubleshoot the same issues! I really wish I'd paid more attention to the other one and two star reviews on Amazon. I really hope I can help someone that is looking for a freezer and point them away from this terrible product. Why can't a company just say they're sorry and do the right thing?? After all, if their product is as good as they say it is, replacing a bad one such as mine should be a rare occurrence...... ... show more

I have never had to write a negative review before, but I also have never had something so personal and devastating happen before due to a product. We received this item from Amazon and it worked for 1 week. We purchased it for the sole reason of storing a few months worth of breast milk. I lost the whole supply and all they could offer to do was replace the freezer. I have nothing to store in there as I cannot keep up with my son's demand now. The representative I spoke to in regards to this item had terrible customer service, put me on hold immediately, and had lapses when conversing on the phone. What they should do is give a heartbroken mother her money back and replace the lost milk with free formula. Save yourself the heartache, do not buy this freezer for breast milk storage or freezing any expensive food items. ... show more
