Bought this when I ordered a large amount of meat and decided to buy other frozen items to keep in it. It would turn on once an hour even though everything was frozen solid. I kept it in operation for 3 months, it added about 25% more to my electric bill each month. Left it unplugged for 5 months and tried it out again two days ago, with four 1 gallon jugs of water for extra "keep cold" factor. It's been running nonstop for 36 hours even while the temperature is around zero inside. The front and back of the freezer are also very warm to the touch, and there's no resistance when opening the top. Doing research, there could be multiple problems with this thing. Would not recommend buying, because paying someone to look at it/fix it would cost as much as I paid for the freezer. I finally broke down and bought this freezer chest to free up a bunch of space in my standard freezer, and to allow for more long-term food storage. As someone who likes to buy in bulk when food items are on sale (getting chicken wings half price or hamburger meat 80% off, for examples), there just absolutely isn't enough space in a standard freezer. This freezer offers 5 cubic feet of storage space (there is a smaller 3.5 cubic feet model available). The interior is an L-shape, rotated 90 degrees. The raised section sits over the motor, so it's an economical use of space. The interior is a stainless steel lining which effectively seals the cold inside the unit. My primary complaint about this design is the lack of options for installable racks/shelving. The freezer comes with one plastic basket that rests just inside the top ridge. The basket can hold a few items, like a loaf of bread and some hamburger patties. The basket can slide across the inner ridge, as long as you haven't filled the freezer with too much food. It features 7 settings adjustable via a dial on the lower front right side of the unit. The smaller numbers equate to the coldest settings. 3-4 on the dial is cold enough to keep everything inside frozen as long as you aren't constantly opening the freezer to add/remove food. I will say the freezer is very quiet, to the point I only notice the low hum when I'm either standing right next to it, or when the unit occasionally cycles off and it makes a brief clicking sound. It seems reasonably energy efficient (as best I can tell, it added between $5-10 to my monthly energy bill). It's a reasonably priced, economically-sized freezer unit that can offer much needed food storage options for the home/apartment/garage or office areas.
