Description

Whirlpool — Whole Home Central Water Filtration System Never Replace A Water Filter Again The Whirlpool Central Water Filtration System utilizes a special sediment screen to remove contaminants from your water. It works together with a media bed to filter particles to 40 microns — half the diameter of human hair. The internal sediment screen flushes automatically every 14 days and the sediments will wash away with the water while it drains. Certified to Reduce Contaminants The National Sanitation Federation (NSF) has determined a standard for products that are made to produce better home water. The WHELJ1 Central Water Filtration System was tested and passed, earning its NSF Certified label. This certification proves the system reduces dangerous contaminants that are commonly found in home water such as sediment and chemicals that cause foul chlorine taste and odor. What’s Included? The WHELJ1 system comes complete with a bypass valve, drain hose, 3 clips (1 spare), 2 hose clamps, adapter elbow and a grommet. High-flow valve maintains great water pressure (connects to up to 1” plumbing). The installation manual is also included in your purchase.

  • Great water filter for removing sediments
Style: Filtration System
This is the second of these I have purchased, this one to replace the older one which had been in use for about 15 years. I tried other filters before but have quite a lot of sediment from my well which can block other "whole house" filters in as little as 4 hours. Not using a filter causes dripping faucets, clogged sprinklers etc so is not an option. To be clear, there is no lifetime product, eventually the "self cleaning" system, which uses valves, will fail, and the filter will eventually become clogged. I was able to deep clean the filter by dismantling it twice, but the leaking valves caused me to eventually replace the filter. If you have less sediment that could be decades away. As a replacement incredible easy to install, although the new unit looked identical it was 1/2 inch taller so I did have to move the bracket up, but the whole install was less than 15 minutes. If this is a new installation you will need a plumber unless you are comfortable with plumbing in 3/4 or 1 inch pipes. The control unit simply plugs in and in 15+ years no issues with it. You can control how often it self cleans, the default is 7 days and for me I had to slowly increase the frequency as the years went by ending up with a daily clean. The new unit is back to 7 days, so yes they eventually will clog up. I also noticed an immediate improvement in water taste with the new unit. Overall I would highly recommend this filter. 5 stars! ... show more

  • A reliable, effective remedy for poor municipal water quality
Style: Filtration System
For some reason, there is something in our local municipal water supply in Loudoun County, Virginia, that causes us real health problems. Seven years ago, we bought one of these units and it was literally like night and day for us. It removed the chlorine and chlorine by-products and other trace impurities in the water that caused us harm and reliably served us for the next seven years. We moved to a new home about 5 minutes away on the same water system and our health issues returned. I bought a second one of these for our new home and again, it is literally night and day difference in the quality of the water. This Whirlpool WHELJ1 Central Water Filtration System is very effective and reliable. If you are handy, you can install it yourself but if not, then get a professional to install it for you. It comes with excellent, clear instructions, a bypass valve connection, and requires a drain for its periodic self-cleaning feature. By default, it will flush out any sediment and other buildup every two weeks at 1AM. You can change the time and frequency of the cleaning cycle. Because it is self-cleaning, it is maintenance free. It is designed to last about 10 years for whole home central water filtering. Take the cost of this over ten years, and add to that the fact that there are no filters to buy or change over the life of the product, and you find that this is a reasonably priced solution. I highly recommend this product and will buy a new one the next time we have to move. It's that good! ... show more

  • Helps get the sediment out of well water
Style: Filtration System
Isn't perfect but helps a lot on sediment removal. Don't know about anything else. Automatically cleans it self so no manual intervention is required.

  • Horrible
Style: Filtration System
This is a terrible product. We installed it in our vacation home working perfectly. When we returned 8 weeks later it was leaking all over. We had the plumber who installed it at a cost of $500 and he showed me where the leak was internal at a cost of $300. Of course Amazon said tough you are past your 30 day return limit, cont Whirlpool. So I will now have to have a plumber come out to remove it than package it and send back to Whirlpool. ... show more

  • What a difference
Style: Filtration System
Our well water had a strange smell, kinda like rotten eggs but a hint of something else like a metallic smell. After installing this filter the water has no further smell or even any hint of an unwanted taste. Has been running great and have had Zero issues.

  • I didn't have to re-plumb my filtering system
Style: Filtration System
Glad I purchased this it installed just as the original. The old unit lasted 14 years and apparently they quit making it, so I was glad to find this one.

  • This thing is amazing.
Style: Filtration System
This a replacement for the same model I've had for 10 years. It finally started to lose a little bit of flow. I live in a place where we have heavy iron in our water and it can smell like rotten eggs / sulfur. This thing takes care of it all. And for the price versus having to deal with the salt and a water softener. Which is bad for you and makes you swell up it's amazing. ... show more
