Top Amazon Reviews

  • Old reviews aren’t the current model.
Color: Matte Black
It seems some of the reviews here are of a different or older model. The newest model that I received is a great fan. Older reviews show candelabra style LED bulbs. This unit has a fixed LED array (see pic). The LED array is dimmable with the right controller. When the fan arrived, it was missing hardware. The seller was quick to contact the manufacturer and resolved it. The fan is incredibly easy to install as long as you have the in ceiling hardware needed. I went with the flush install. There is even a hook on the mounting point to hang the fan while completing your wiring. I’m using a hunter remote control, and there is some hum on high and medium, but completely quiet on low. It is a beautiful fan, and made the room feel much bigger than our old low hanging model. ... show more

  • Effective & Quiet
Color: Matte Black
We had the 52" Westinghouse Comet installed 3 months ago and are quite happy with its performance. It provides whisper quiet performance on all three speeds, and it's just the right size to effectively cool for our moderately sized living room. The overhead light provides even illumination when we need it. It looks great in the matte black finish. ... show more

  • Really mediocre instructions, lights have no dimmer (just on/off)
Color: Matte Black
I purchased this because Consumer Reports rated it highly. It's supposed to be very quiet and energy efficient. The latter is not my top concern, so I'm not going to test for that. It is *somewhat* quiet, but if I want to do audio recordings in this room I would still need to turn the fan completely off. I would have preferred it with bronze/brass hardware and a nice medium brown wood grain, but the high tech black look does complement my computer/monitors tech look. A few minor negs: 1) REALLY disappointed that the light does not have multiple dimmer options. It's just on/off, and on is pretty bright. 2) Installation instructions are embarrassingly lacking. Several things I had to figure out. For example, you may want to mount the blades BEFORE you try mounting the fan because it's a real shenanigan. The top of the light fixture comes pre-installed on the motor. It would have been easier to mount the fan blades if that were not in the way. It has a slot that leaves enough space to get at one fan blade's pair of mounting screws. They are not provided separately, and that is not detailed in the instructions. It just says to use the screws and lock washers "provided". You have to remove them from the motor housing (once you have figured out which ones they are). There are other things that could have been explained much more clearly that would have made the entire process a lot easier and faster. 3) Good quality fans are designed so that when you hang it on the bracket hook in order to wire it, you should be able to just swing it up onto the mounting bracket. My previous (Hunter brand) fan did that. This one did not. You had to unhook it in order to mount it to the bracket. 4) SHIPPING NOTE: They just slapped labels on the fan box, but that box is pretty flimsy cardboard not at all designed to endure getting banged around in shipping. When it arrived, corners were torn and it looked pretty battered. Inside, the Styrofoam packing had broken up a bit. However, as luck would have it none of the fan parts appeared to be damaged. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH SMARTER to pack this thing inside a sturdier cardboard box before shipping. POSITIVE DESIGN NOTE: the large disc-shaped screws that hold the glass on over the light fixture seem pretty well designed, with some protective padding between the plastic of the screw heads and the glass. ... show more

  • Best ceiling fan we have ever had.
Color: White
We have 4 ceiling fans in the house. This is by far the quietest and puts out the most air movement of any of them. And this one was quite a bit less that the others cost 15 years ago. Install of this model was a bit more difficult due to the way the blades attach to the motor. There is a hole in the lower shroud, just above the light fixture and you can only get the screws in by positioning it above that hole. So a bit more of a juggling act for one person installing it. ... show more

  • Great product- would recommend!!!
Color: White
This is the one you’ve been looking for! I bought 2 for bedrooms in my house. These are silent except for the wind of the air in the blades- there is no detectable humming, clicking, anything. No remote, but remotes are just one more thing to lose or break IMO, so I prefer the chain controls that this has. I bought site unseen because of consumer reports recommendation- I am delighted with the fans! ... show more

  • Terribly difficult to install
Color: Matte Black
I recently purchased this fan because of the looks. I was not familiar with Westinghouse fans. I purchased a beautiful fan from Hunter at the big box store and installed it last night. Very easy install and great instructions. Today I start to install this fan and run into one issue after another. For starters, the fan blades attach to the brackets with screws, washers, fabric washers, and nuts. This is ridiculous all by itself. Any decent fan is designed to screw directly into the bracket without a need to use a nut. And then I discover the "fabric" washers do not fit the screws properly so you literally need to screw them onto the screw. Now putting the blade onto the motor was another chore...you have to line up the screws within the opening and insert the mounting screws. Little things like captive lock washers were not used. So, if you happen to drop a screw when installing, you might be chasing a screw and a lock washer. At this point I started looking closer at the fan and noticed the exposed screws, odd way the glass attaches, exposed reverse switch, etc. This fan is not even close to being worth the money. I never even finished putting it up because of these issues. Now, I have to take the thing apart to ship it back, and the damn "fabric" washers are not coming off easy to I am having to use pliers to hold them to unscrew the screw. I have put in many fans over 30 years and I will never buy a Westinghouse fan again. ... show more
