I have an aging inspirion 5000 series that desperately needed a new drive because the mechanical HDD was failing and it started making loud squeaking noises, on top of that just doing simple tasks in Windows was a clear obvious sign. I purchased this 1TB SSD to replace an existing 128GB SATA drive in my Dell laptop. The SSD does not come with any software. I downloaded the SeagateDiscWizard and used it to clone my existing disc drive then simply remove the old one and replaced it with the new one. You need a USB cable that allows you to connect to the SSD drive in order to do the disc cloning. ... show more

I was hired by a business to recommend their technology needs. I recommended an upgrade to SSD drives and installing the max memory capacity on all their computers. I saved them over $10K. I very highly recommend SSD if your PC is compatible. They are very easy to install, format, and clone. Then all you have to do is remove the old drive and replace it with this new SSD. Visit the Western Digital website, and enter your PC's manufacturer name and model number. The program will let you know if the SSD is compatible with your PC. I also recommend you also increase your PC's memory to the total capacity. Google your PC's brand and model number. Find out if you can add more memory. If so, do it. ... show more
