    • Surprisingly awesome, nothing pretentious, just damn good no frills soldering
I bought this because my 400 dollar old yihua 900d? soldering stations soldering iron kept having issues. I figured it would be an ok stand in until i could afford something good, but this little soldering station is amazing. Its small size and light weight make it portable and convenient, the layout is great with the helping hands and lamp, everything you need and nothing you don't, all in well thought out spots. And i know this is a 60w and that os on the low side as these go, but i swear this thing heats up before i can line up my first solder every time, goes way higher than youd ever wanna go, its like a couple seconds, less than 10, maybe 5, and it holds a steady temp without any play, immediately compensates when you dip in flux or melt solder or otherwise cool the tip, it instantly bounces right back to where you have it set. It can memorize three different temperatures which are easily and intuitively changed, and it has a sleep mode. I like this station BETTER than i ever liked my bigger pricier one. Yeah so it doesnt have the hot air blower or cool infrared light that i never ended up never using(cept to cook ramens) but it can be setup on a kitchen counter, dresser, desk, anywhere with a plug, its super light and it has everything right in easy reach to smoothly handle 99% of electronic soldering jobs.     • Very impressive soldering iron and station
This thing is powerful! I have been able to solder to a chassis with this iron because it heats so well. Sturdy holder and control’s are easy to use. My only issue was that there were no instructions on how to assemble the station and I have 2 nuts left over as a result. Also the light on the magnifying glass is way too dim to even consider using. I didn’t buy it for the magnifying glass or light so that will not factor into my 5 stars! ... show more

Operationally I love it. It heats up super fast and is very reliable. Has all the little accessories you could want. The only problem is when you're not using it. It's clunky to store. The way the spool holder attaches to the main unit is inadequate. Screw keeps loosening and the folder falls over. Would also have loved a cover for the bits, etc. if you bump this while it's on the shelf everything goes all over. Gonna have to find or build a case for it. ... show more

I'm really quite impressed with the performance of this kit. It heats up ready to use in a few seconds and has everything in it needed to do some quality work. Solid unit for the price. I can't review the longevity of this unit yet, but so far so good!

    • Heats up SUPER fast
It went from room temperature to 450F in a matter of seconds which was a pleasant surprise. Swapping out the tip head was easy. And I really liked how sturdy the base is because my biggest reason for getting a $50 over a $15 soldering iron is the flimsy base being a safety hazard on the cheaper ones. My biggest gripe is there's no way to turn off the solder heat but keep the unit on so you can't use the magnify glass light without turning on the iron. The minimum temp you can set is ~400 F (200 C). The closest thing you can do is leave it on sleep mode which keeps the nozzle at a min 194F, still way above room temperature. Because of this you also can't read when the nozzle is room temperature and safe to touch for swapping tips. You just have to leave it alone for a while and hope it's no longer hot. As soon as you turn on the unit it will heat up and it heats up FAST as previously mentioned. Despite this, I do really like this unit and it has a lot of features that make soldering a little easier. ... show more

I use this for various tasks ~ guitar pick-ups, home electronics, etc. I haven't had any issues, and the provided solder seems to also be of reasonable quality

    • Finally got what I want
I've been a hobbyist for over 50 years and built many, many projects. In the last few years I don't need to solder often; maybe 2-3 times a year, then 75 times in one month. I recently tried soldering some XT60 connectors and was very disappointed with the results. It was time to upgrade. Even 10 years ago these Temperature Controlled stations were too expensive. The WEP 927 is a bargain and I couldn't be happier. I was pleasantly surprised how SMALL the unit is. Bench space is at a premium and being able to store it away in a small box is even more important. Performance is excellent; It heats up very fast, and the high wattage means it handles 12 gauge wire easily, which was the feature I wanted it for. Overall, I'm beyond pleased.
