  • Drill Press Vise, But Not a Milling Vice
I bought this to hold pieces at weird angles while drilling holes on my mill or drill press. It works quite nicely for that, but I wouldn't try to do any precision work holding with it. It has everything a tilting mill vice would have except that the moving jaw is too narrow, so it doesn't have enough bearing surface to keep the jaw from canting sideways if something is clamped off the side of the jaw. This works okay for drilling holes, especially in larger pieces, but when I tried to mill a flat on a piece out the side of the jaw, the above flaw revealed itself. It wasn't clamping the part evenly and it moved very easily inside the jaws when the pressure of the endmill cutter was applied to it. I still give it 5 starts because it is very inexpensive for what it is and the tilting ways are very nicely fitted. Can't go wrong using this in a drill press application. ... show more

  • Looks like it was used and returned.
I really REALLY wish I didn't absolutely need this (expletive deleted) clamp, or I'd return it. I bought a vise for my drill press a while back, and had to return it. Even though it was supposed to fit, it didn't. It was also dry, and had a fine layer of rust everywhere that wasn't coated. This clamp is no different. Again, if I didn't need it that very day and had any other way to get something, I'd return it. But since the project will need to stay clamped for 63 days, I won't have the chance to. This also didn't have any Grease on it like every other clamp I've ever purchased. It was grinding slightly when I tried to use it so I wiped it down and greased it myself. I understand sitting tools can and do rust, sometimes even when they're greased and sealed. But not like this. I guess I'll have to go local next time. It's a shame because I love all my other Wen stuff. Drill press, band saw, bely/disc sander, etc.... I guess I just won't buy their clamps. ... show more
