I haven't had much time to use this yet but I can't wait... This thing is a beast - bigger than I expected, heavy and super solid. Only came with 3 bolts for mounting (4 holes), but easy enough to get another - if I need it. Seems smooth and very tough.

Researched many bench vises and the Forward company seemed to be good in comparison. Shipping and packing were perfect for such a heavy vise. Looks great on my bench and very little play or looseness. If you have the room, the 6" might be better as the 5" jaws look a little small for my needs. But the 5" version had the better sale. For the price, you really can't beat this vise. Is it a cheap vise? Yes, it is, but... When I first got the vise, I did what most people do, take it all apart and clean it up. The swivel base has no machining whatsoever so, I took a little sandpaper, then a flattening block to the base and bottom of the vise, hit a few other minor rough spots, greased the whole vise up and it has surprisingly smooth action for an inexpensive vise. The jaw pads are cheap, but I use my vise with nylon pads so its a non-issue for me. Time will tell if it holds up to abuse, but by the looks of it, it should last a good long time. ... show more
