When I initially saw the box, I was concerned that this was a former returned item, because the box was wrapped (excessively) in yellowed tape. But the tool was well packaged and is in great condition. In the manual, I especially appreciated the sentence: "We know your cat is super cute, but pay attention to your project." I also like the clever "Thanks for remembering Wen."     • A Replacement for the Old One

My previous sander just stopped working one day so I had to get a new one, which is why I bought this WEN sander. It's got a more than enough power for most jobs. The hook-and-loop base pad makes it easy to swap out the sandpaper when you need to, which is great because I hate fumbling with that stuff (once took me almost an hour to change a piece of paper on my old sander). This model also has a dual grip design so you can hold it by the handle or by the palm grip, whatever works best for you. The dust collection box and fan-assisted dust holes help keep things tidy while I work (dust everywhere is just annoying). It's always nice when a tool comes with some useful accessories too. This sander has all the basics covered - an 80-grit sanding disc to get started right away. All in all, it's a solid machine and seems to be built well enough to last for a while (unlike my old one). I would definitely recommend this sander to anyone looking for something reliable and powerful Love WEN tools! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. For the price this is pretty good- it absolutely does the job. However, there are a couple of drawbacks. First, the dust collection is marginal at best. It has a box that is difficult to get on and off, and which has a tendency to flop open- why it opens that way at all is beyond me! Because of this awkward proprietary attachment, the port cannot be connected to a vacuum or dust collector hose. I’ve currently got a shopvac hose bungee corded to the handle and it’s better than nothing, but I shouldn’t have to do it. Just give us a real vacuum port!!! In reading the manual I ran across a warning that people with Raynaud’s disease should not use this tool- I have to say I was impressed to see that as Raynaud’s isn’t exactly a household word. And I was concerned as I do have it- but what I’ve discovered is that as long as I use the tool in short sessions I can tolerate it, and I’ve developed a workaround for longer sessions. I use a thick piece of foam on top of the sander (which I hadn’t thought of yet when I took the video), and then use just the tips of my fingers to press down gently to control it. When working on a flat surface, this actually works perfectly- the vibration coming up into my hand is greatly reduced, and I’m still in perfect control. Obviously others with Raynaud’s need to be very careful and talk with your medical team as not everyone can tolerate the same things, but I’m glad that for me it’s workable. ... show more
