Description

A sander well-suited for a wide range of one-handed applications, the RTS 400 is ideal for working on flat, vertical, and overhead surfaces because of its compact design, and weight of only 2.4 lbs. Just like the DTS 400, step-less variable speed improves working results, and vibration-stop balancing reduces fatigue during prolonged use. The RTS 400 is a true one-handed sander with a narrow 3-5/32" x 5-1/4" (80 x 133mm) rectangular pad that allows for sanding on edges and frame members. The true orbital sanding motion and fine 1.8mm stroke allow full pad contact and control to minimize swirl marks and produce smoother surfaces. Yes you can use a $40 sander but you will for go performance and comfort. Sanding all day puts a lot of dust in the air and this sander hooked up to even a cheap vac puts out virtually no dust

I love this sander. It has a built in blower for dust extraction, so you don’t technically need a separate dust extractor. If you stack the soft sanding pads for contours, it will increase the vibration a little bit, but otherwise no hand buzz. It’s not for heavy removal, it’s a fine finishing sander. I use this for cabinets and doors. Gets in the corners well. I use the festool dust extractor with this, so there’s absolutely no dust. Dial down the dust extractor power for smooth operation. Too much suction makes the sander stick in place, it’s that strong!

I have been purchasing festool products for twenty years. Very high price, but very high quality. Only thing I've had to replace was the head on my rotex sander which will wear out on any random orbital. Will continue to purchase festool on a regular basis.

This sander is a dream. It is very pricey, and we put off purchasing a long time due to the price, but once received, we do love it.
