Description

A sander well-suited for a wide range of one-handed applications, the RTS 400 is ideal for working on flat, vertical, and overhead surfaces because of its compact design, and weight of only 2.4 lbs. Just like the DTS 400, step-less variable speed improves working results, and vibration-stop balancing reduces fatigue during prolonged use. The RTS 400 is a true one-handed sander with a narrow 3-5/32" x 5-1/4" (80 x 133mm) rectangular pad that allows for sanding on edges and frame members. The true orbital sanding motion and fine 1.8mm stroke allow full pad contact and control to minimize swirl marks and produce smoother surfaces. This is one of those purchases where I ask myself, “why didn’t I buy this sooner”. I’ve been wanting it ever since I started refinishing furniture and I’ve wanted one every single project I’ve refinished or built for the last 3 years or so. It’s such a comfortable sander to hold and the vibration is so much less than my mouse sander. The dust collection is superb. It’s so easy to do edges now and so much better for working with veneers. I didn’t think it was possible to get a good finish off of anything but hand sanding or a sander that rotates as well as orbits. This sander in fact, leaves a finish ready surface when I take the proper steps. Like everything else I’ve bought from Festool, this is high quality and damn near perfect. The dust collection is unreal—paired with a shop vac, there’s barely any mess, which keeps my workspace clean and my lungs happy. this was a huge investment for me but I really like this sander. Its heavier than any others I've used but removes finish quickly. It comes in a hard case for storage and travel., and several sizes of sand paper to get started with. You wont regret buying this sander. It has alot of power!!!

I considered this purchase for months. It seemed like a lot of money for a sander, but I have no regrets. It does exactly what I wanted—finish sands—and collects dust very well when connected to a vacuum. It was a splurge I feel was worth it.
