  • Who wants a bunch of dim bulbs?
Style: Smart Dimmer
I have had this dimmer for a while and finally installed it this week. So far, I am happy with it. Initially, I had an issue with it losing WiFi but I resolved that by installing another router closer to the room. Other devices in the same location had a consistent signal but they were not installed in an electrical box inside a wall. Of the three bulbs in the pictures, none of them were dimmable AFAIK and the one on the right was labeled non-dimmable. The images are, in order, 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and finally 10%. As always, YMMV. Install was straightforward, as all of my WEMOs have been. BTW, ALL WEMO switches I have installed are big so they may not fit in older and/or smaller switch boxes. Even in the larger ones it is sometimes a challenge to fit them in with all the wires, etc. I always try to limit the wires in the box by removing the wires going to the original switch as much as possible. All the WEMO switches I have installed have pre-installed wires and they have all been long enough to reach wire nuts, etc. within the boxes. One very minor con: If you don't wish to change the brightness when operating the switch manually, you need to make sure you don't touch the dimmer valley in the middle of the fixture - except on the blue ring itself. (However, this may be just my fat fingers at play.) VERY SPECIAL NOTE: I have discovered that the WEMO switches are very susceptible to chafing with the switch plates especially this dimmer. If one is not careful to prevent chaffing, the switches can become manually inoperable. I have only witnessed this with standard wall plates and not with the wall plates included with the switches. ... show more

  • Pretty Reliable and Looks Nice
Style: Smart Dimmer
I used to be a true believer of Lutron Caseta products, until I moved to a house from my small condo. Soon, I discovered that the coverage area of Lutron hub is not that great, and you can ONLY use one repeater in the Caseta line (first plug-in lamp dimmer switch acts as repeater). This is intentional from Lutron to make more money off their installer models like RA2. Anyways, the house came with a first generation Wemo switch, and it was a pain to set up, but once I did, it was working well. I decided to buy a switch and a dimmer, albeit version 2, and try them out. You will need a neutral wire for these to work, and fortunately house came with that in every box. The only awkward problem for me to setup was that I sometimes screwed in the switch and forgot that I need to scan the HomeKit label on the back, so I had to open up again, but other than that, I’m pretty happy with my choice. Siri works great in every room. Now I have to disclose that the house is big, at around 5000 sq ft, and I’ve a huge UniFi 10G network with 5 WiFi 6 AX access points and a gateway with failover WANs setup. The capacity of this network is enough for a big office space, so I had no fear adding many WiFi clients. If you’ve a small all-in-one wireless router at home, you may not get the same coverage or experience. Regarding the reviews that say the LED lamps start to flicker after a while, it’s a common issue with any dimmer switch. In Lutron, you will calibrate the lower and higher trims to avoid the flicker. I think Wemo does this as well in their app automatically, but there’s a manual option to adjust your trims. So far, I have 2 Wemo dimmers and 4 switches. I used one of the switches for the shower fan, and set it in their app to automatically turn off after 1 hour. This way when I leave home, I won’t be having any mold build up in the shower. The possibilities are limitless with these Wemo products. I just wish they come with a remote push button like Lutron’s and Philips Hue’s. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the purchase which was cheaper than Lutron and needed no hub. Thanks for reading and YMMV. Update: Recently I found myself with a lot of IOT devices, and as my network grew bigger, I noticed HomeKit is having a hard time finding these switches or adding them. The solution was to use a separate 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only for these IOT devices with a different name than the 5GHz. Also, for some reasons only one of the channels of 1, 6, or 11 works with HomeKit (documented by other users if you receive an error during adding an accessory like failed OSSStatus code 5 EIO). For me, only channel 11 worked, so I updated all APs to use 11 for 2.4 GHz. Hope this saves some time and frustration for other people. ... show more

  • Once you install you will never go back to normal switches
Style: Smart Dimmer
These products are great. I have been installed throughout my 70-year-old parents home. To my surprise they love and use Alexa with these switches. The switch comes in handy during the night time when they are susceptible to Falls because they cannot see in the dark. the only issue I have with this particular model is that it tends to disconnect from the router from time to time. I have the previous generation and out of the years I've had them I've had to reconnect them twice. This particular newer model seems faulty. Maybe it's the firmware? Either way it is still installed. ... show more

This is not my first WEMO product and I am not surprised as to the good quality that they offer through their products. Highly recommend

  • Versatile Light Switch
Style: Smart Dimmer
The WeMo products are versatile in that they work with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Home Kit. It is rare to find a product that works with all three. The set up is fairly simple and the light switch and dimmer work awesome both manually and with voice assistance. My only issue with the WeMo dimmer switches is that they sometimes lose their responsiveness with Apple Home Kit forcing me to reset the dimmer switch and thus the reason for 4 stars. ... show more

  • Works great, very responsive
Style: Smart Dimmer
I have other smart switches, but the Wemo is my favorite, it Works great, very responsive. Pairing works fairly easily. You slide your finger up and down to easily adjust, its extremely responsive and dimms the full light range. Also the rule options are very nice as you can have one rule apply to multiple fixtures, whereas other manufactures make you write a rule per fixture. These come with a screwless switch cover but if you want to use them in a 2 or 3 gang configuration the standard screwless covers do not work well and hold down the toggle switch. I switched to a cover that uses screws, which is thinner and it works fine. I just wish they also made a 3-way dimmer too. ... show more
