I like that you can dim the strands of lights, turn them off/on with the remote control. Without this adapter, I would have to plug and unplug the lights each time. Please note that it is effective for a certain number of strands - check out if it works with yours before buying!

I installed this to work as a remote dimmer for outdoor patio lights. It is plugged into an outdoor socket with a cover intended to long-term plug-in use. The dimmer itself is mounted to a trim outside in the elements, but as it is on the trim alongside my house it is slightly covered by the roof overhang. So far it has lasted a whole year without need to replace remote's battery and through storms and snow. I live in upstate NY so we see temps from 0-90F typically. After a year I don't see any deterioration of the cover or cord. The remote works perfectly and reliably from inside of my house -- I've not encountered and limitations on its range but I have not tested it either, but it works from all of the rooms of my house with windows facing the patio. The dimmer has a 25, 50, 75, and 100% setting, and I exclusively use that. I have not used the timing function. Normally I use either 25% (when in the spa or entertaining) or 100% (when having dinner outside at night or doing some work). ... show more

Easy to install. Must have bc it comes with a remote which you can be standing, I believe, it was up to 60ft away from it to work. 4 different preset dimmer settings 25% - 100%. My favorite is that it has buttons for auto shut-off too.

I was looking for an easy way to turn on and dim my outdoor lighting on my gazebo. This was easy to install and the remote works from far enough away I can just turn on the lights or dim them without leaving my outdoor swing.
