  • Works great for small pool
So far so good. I use it to heat my 300-350 gallon cowboy pool. Seems durable and well made. Easy to use. You just set the max temp and let it go. It seems to have no trouble maintaining 100 degrees.

  • Doesn't heat up much.
It took us 1 week to get it from 65 to 70, and we have small above ground pool. Wouldn't purchase again. I'm in Florida so definitely not coldest place.

  • Affordable unit, excellent support, specifications may be optimistic
TLDR; Northeast USA, capable unit though optimistic specifications, with excellent tech support. I live in southeast PA where we go from 40F to 80F daily in the spring and fall and that's normal. The item shipped quickly on Prime and arrived in good condition, well packaged. Even so, I needed to reattach the control panel. Connecting the unit was very quick using PVC unions, pipe and fittings if you are handy or looking to convert to PVC from flex tube. I highly recommend throttling the volume sent to the unit using a T-valve, bypass section and visible check-valve to gauge flow. This unit can heat my 3500 gallon above ground pool between .5F and 1F per hour when the air temperature is between 70F and 80F, which is acceptable for me, though per above, that window is short in the spring and fall when I need this unit to operate. When the temp is below 65F, it's too inefficient to keep the pump running and will begin to freeze the coil in the low 60's. It's early May and the weather hasn't cooperated enough to make heating the pool economical, but we're trying hard open with 80F water by Memorial Day next week. I have been in contact with the seller, who is incredibly responsive in the evening hours. They have been very helpful in diagnosing problems, offering compensation and otherwise ensuring my satisfaction. I still have some of their recommendations to try and improve performance. Given my specifications, you should be able to judge whether this unit will work in area, on your pool. GL and happy swimming! ... show more

  • Does what it says it does with a few limitations that you'll need to be aware of.
I'll start off by saying that the "up to 10k gallons" is a bit generous. I would say that a above ground 12x30, 12x40, 12x40 pool is this heatpumps sweet spot. I live in Maine and daytime temps are regularly 80 degrees but it drops down to 50 at night, you absolutely cannot leave this thing running over night if the temps are below 65 or 60 I would say, it can't operate efficiently that cold and it will probably frost up. You also need to be very careful attaching your hoses as the o-rings are a little thick and they will get snagged up in your hose, work the hose over the o-ring slowly working the hose clockwise and counter clockwise while checking visually that the oring is still in place. I know this sounds like im listing a lot of cons but these are things to help you operate efficiently. As I s5ates, I live in Maine and it's common for my pool to be 84 during the day but drop to 68/70 at night. We haven't broke 80 degree daytime temps since I installed this and I only have about 6-7 hours of direct sunlight on my pool. By using this heat pump with the solar cover I'm easily getting my pool from 70 degrees up to 80+ by noon time. Because of its limitations I make sure I turn the heat pump and pool pump off before I go to bed around 11. Then I turn it back on around 7 before work. I only have a 12x36 above ground pool with a 1000gph pump but this thing is a rock star and by far the cheapest option that doesn't involve installing solar pads on my roof or covering my lawn with them. It's still not cheap it's easily twice what I paid for the actual pool and pump but it's worth it to not have to constantly wait for a sunny day and giving time for just the solar cover to make it warm enough. The kids can hop in any time, even an overcast day like today. ... show more

  • Works Great For Mini Pools
I got this for our tiny little Intex pool. 10 ft diameter by 30in tall, with 1185 gallon capacity. We just used the crappy little filter pump that came with the pool with 330 GPH. My 2 and 5 year old were freezing in the unheated summer water and would want to get out after like 5 mins. This heater worked great for that. I spent some time researching tiny pool heaters and there appears to be only two extremes: at the low end are sous vide heaters that obviously can't heat any size pool and solar mats or at the other end of the spectrum are pool heaters that cost thousands of dollars. Nothing in between. I was on the verge of going down a rabbit hole making a homemade propane heater but then I took a chance on this. It was double the cost of the pool but it really was amazing. Every morning I turned on the heater and every afternoon by the time we were done with work and school/camp, the pool was 90-100 degrees. The kids spent hours in the pool. We were also able to extend the summer season by a few weeks with this. It is great. I can imagine if you had a small but not miniature pool and you bought this, it might not perform adequately. You need to keep your expectations in line with the specs. I didn't have any problems with it freezing, leaking, or anything else. My pool pump was annoying and could only stay on 10 hrs at a time. At first I was super careful to make sure I stopped the heater because I was afraid I would burn it out. But then one time I forgot and the heater just auto turned off when it reached the set temperature. So after that I just let it go. Worked great. I do have to say I always turned it off before anyone went in the water. Buying this random stuff online, I was a little worried about the danger of electricity and water. And I would have loved a GFCI plug like the pool filter has. I also didn't love having all these electric cords so close to the pool but I guess I could get longer hoses. ... show more

  • Junk
Ruined Memorial Day. Device ices up immediately. Probably from low refrigerant from a leak. Poor quality control for so much money. Everything actually looks well built but the product I received was dead on arrival. Returning.
