I used these because I needed small chunks of wood to fit in my small solo stove that I use on my patio. I'm quite "extra" when it comes to my patio, solar lights, exterior fan, bug zapper, all the bells and whistles, and I decided to try this cherry wood for my small solo stove because 1-the chunks were small enough to fit into it, and 2-I thought maybe the cherry would impart a nice scent. Love it. Most of the time you feel like youre sitting in front of a normal fire, but every few minutes you'll get hit with a delicate wave of sweetness that smells amazing. I actually like the chunks with the bark because they catch easier than the center wood pieces. It can be hard to get them to catch, but thats what firestarters are for, right? I also ordered a box of kiln dried pizza oven wood: those pieces are much smaller and more uniform, they catch very quickly, but they burn much faster. Adds great flavor to your smoker or BBQ cooker. I usually use Kingsford Mesquite Charcoal for beef and Hickory Charcoal for pork and it turns out great. Now I put a couple of chunks of this on tops of the charcoal and it takes it over the top.

The flavor of these chunks is great. Smell is beautiful. Wood was clean, dry, well seasoned. Size of bag did not last through one smoking session with offset smoker (pork butt). Ensure you buy enough for what you need! Only other real concern was the variability in the sizes of the chunks. Some very large, some very small. I have used about 3/4 of this bag of cherry wood chunks to smoke meats on my Weber kettle, and thus far I am very satisfied with the results and with the cherry wood flavor that these have imparted. I have used these when smoking beef ribs (plate ribs or dino ribs), pork belly, burger patties and sausages, and chicken thighs most recently. The bag includes a mix of smaller chunks and larger chunks, but don't worry, there are plenty of larger chunks. I have noticed no issues with the quality or dryness of the wood. It burns or smokes well. The price was also in the same ballpark as prices at local retailers, and if that continues to remain the case, I will continue to order Weber wood chunks here online to save the time and gas spent on a trip to the store. (Oh, and one of the features to be rated is "Giftable". I gave that 1 star, as I don't think this is a great gift to give, even to someone who smokes meats regularly. Any grilling or smoking fanatics probably have plenty of wood to use when smoking or grilling, so instead I'd suggest gifting them a grilling accessory.) ... show more
