  • VENTED AIRFLOW DESIGN: Features a vented base and circular air vents that encourage consistent airflow, helping paper or fire starters ignite charcoal efficiently and support more uniform burn and ash coverage before cooking.
  • NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED: Arrives assembled and ready to use, so you can place it on a cold grill, load charcoal and starter material, and begin lighting for quick weeknight dinners, tailgates, or planned weekend cookouts at home.

Description

Kingsford’s heavy duty deluxe charcoal chimney starter is made for lighting briquettes for grills and smokers without relying on lighter fluid. It helps bring charcoal to cooking-ready heat faster by encouraging strong airflow through the chimney during startup. The zinc-coated steel body is built for repeat grilling sessions, and the vented base and side vents support more even ignition across the load. A heat shield and stay-cool handle are designed to help keep hands protected while you pour hot coals into the grill. Use it for backyard cookouts, tailgates, and camping meals when you want a simple, assembled tool that fits into your normal barbecue routine. Load charcoal and starter material, light, and wait for an ash-covered burn before cooking over steady coals.

  • works well meets expectations
Style: Chimney Starter Size: 1 Count
I got this during prime deal father's day sale which happens to me my BFs birthday. I got him a bullet smoker and it said that this is a needed accessory. Well the Walmart brand looked so cheap and they were out of all others so I came here to find this even cheaper than the store brand. Very good quality. We have uses it multiple cooks already and left it in the rain on the patio once. Seems rust resistant. Versatile as with charcoal or lump wood and had the charcoal heated so fast I got a great cook time by using this. Its very easy to use no assembly required. ... show more

  • Heats up in 10 minutes, charcoal grill necessity
Style: Chimney Starter Size: 1 Count
The media could not be loaded. I was **brand new** to charcoal grilling at the start of this year but was committed to learning because there is no comparison to that charcoal taste. Using this chimney has been pretty fool proof, even in negative weather in the Midwest! I was hesitant about charcoal grilling because of the stigma that it takes forever to heat up, but I don't think the 10 minute time commitment this takes is anything! My recipe for success (I'm positive theres other ways or tricks, but this has worked splendid for me every time): -Empty ash from grill - remove grate from grill - open damper on bottom of grill - fill the top part of the chimney with charcoal (this is a big chimney so I fill about 3/4 of the way full) and place in bottom of - put chimney in the grill - stuff ripped up paper or cardboard in the bottom part of the chimney and light it - wait about 10-20 minutes (I've grilled in -10 degrees and it took 20 minutes, in more favorable weather it takes about 10), the ones on top start to turn grey - dump into grill and arrange to fit the needs for that grilling session The most frustrating part to me has been fighting a subpar lighter, so a quality lighter is a must! I like that this chimney is large enough to hold a variable amount of charcoal for the times I meal prep for the week and need the whole grate space. For the price point of $15-20, this was a great value and an essential to making charcoal grilling enjoyable and timely ... show more

  • Works as it's supposed to, even with heavy abuse.
Style: Chimney Starter Size: 1 Count
First thing: for $14 bucks, whatever you get isn't supposed to last forever, unless it's a case of green slime incased in those multi colored plastic eggs, purple shoe polish, a drum of axle grease or a toupee made of wool fiber. And non of the above would withstand a good 20 minutes inside this chimney, so it doesn't matter. The metal on this is thin, so thin you could crush it with two hands, or stomp on it and use it as a burger flipper, but why would you? It's thin but it works, and we've abused ours so I can't rightfully believe the reviews that say they break apart or melt. I want to know how, because we've tried everything and it takes about a good year and a half to destroy it with heavy use. We've filled it with briquettes and lump charcoal, with pieces of wood, mulch, twigs, random branches from the yard trees. We've left it inside the fire pit, thrown leaves on top of it, cooled it off by dipping it in a pool, then leaving it in the elements in FLORIDA, where humidity and heat will destroy just about anything, and it's still there. Still working like a Pinto or Gremlin. Ugly, yes, functional you bet. The idea is to use air flow to light briquettes fast, and hearing people trash this for not working is like saying fire doesn't follow the rules of physics. A chimney needs fuel, but lighter fluid won't do anything for it. The way to get this going is with some newspaper, sawdust, wood shavings or any of these and some trusty dryer lint. You place a small wad of burning matter, and then PLACE this on TOP. The briquettes or lump or wood, will begin to roast up and go. With wood or branches, you see flames quickly rising up the chimney. With briquettes or lump charcoal, it takes a while but one does see heavy smoke. This is obviously a drinkers companion. You drink and it keeps you company by working for you. The handle may get hot, but every BBQ enthusiast knows to keep at least one mit nearby, a few utensils, a pair of tongs, a half a pack of cigarettes and at least 3 cold beers. The chimney gets it going and once you have that, you add it to whatever your using and add some fresh material or wood or whatever. We've started bonfires with this, even in a beat rusty condition, the thing works, just look at the photos. I mean come on, it's beat up, bent, the inside panel is warped but it keeps going. We've bought before and will again. There is no assembly. It will rust up worse than a Nissan in Michigan weather, but so what? The size is good, it will hold a good amount of charcoal without question. It's sturdy so long as one doesn't unbalance the thing. And whatever you do, keep the plastic handle away from flames, unless you are like us and don't care if the thing looks like Freddy Krueger. It's supposed to be cheap, if this were made of cast iron, it would cost a ton of money and last someone a minimum of 50 years. I mean, it would outlast a barbeque kettle. For $14 bucks one can't reasonably expect to have something better that will last forever. Now, the company advertises as "rust proof", but that's false, so we must take 1 star off for that. Still, it won't totally rip apart and we've tried. Not on purpose, mind you, just by doing what we do and not caring. Because let's face it, every oven, pit, grill, griddle will eventually rust apart, regardless of if you cover it or not. Humidity, heat, cold and natural weather will destroy metals (unless it's made of gold or silver. Can you imagine a BBQ made of gold? I once saw a Mercedes Benz coupe plated in gold on Miami Beach. Dude, that thing was crazy. The tag said Kuwait and of course it did, who else but someone from Kuwait could afford to plate a Mercedes Benz in gold?!) Anyways, I digress. Lots of brands make this, but Kingsford is just as good and does what it's supposed to do. Light up briquettes, lump or twigs to get you cooking fast and drinking even faster. I'd recommend it. We abuse ours and do absolutely nothing to protect it so it lasts any length of time, becomes an heirloom and pass it down through the generations, and it continues to work and work, and the day it doesn't work anymore we'll smash it flat, line the fire pit with it and if any plastic remains, recycle that. So there! You want an heirloom? Protect Mother Earth, there's no better inheritance. I'd recommend across the board and will be here buying another in about 1.5 years when we've thoroughly trashed this one. Note: I made a comment to my brother that one could take a used can of Keebler soda crackers and turn that into a chimney. You'd need to punch some holes in the bottom to get the proper updraft going and slap some kind of handle to it. I mean it could work, that's all this is anyway. But some crackers or get this instead. Totally worth it. ... show more

EASY to start the charcoal WITHOUT lighter fluid. Newspaper or paper bags is all you need. I use this every time I grill, and it works perfectly. It makes starting a charcoal grill ten times easier — I only need a little bit of newspaper at the bottom and the coals heat evenly and reliably. I wish I had bought this sooner. Overall, it’s become an essential part of my grilling routine.
