  • Unexpectedly fun grilling accessory.
Style: Chimney Only Size: Compact
So my propane grill broke down and I was left with a small charcoal grill, I don’t have much experience with charcoal grilling and I was really struggling to light it and keep it lit and heated well. That struggle lead me to this, and for the cost? Wow it worked better than I thought and I don’t even use the kindling they sell. I just grab a few flammable things to start it and drop my charcoal in and bam I’m basically done and every single time my food cooks better than ever, evenly and tastes great cause I don’t even need to use fire accelerant anymore. It’s such a simple item but it’s so much fun, like a mini bonfire before I grill. Worth every cent. ... show more

  • Perfect size for my needs
Style: Chimney Only Size: Compact
I got this smaller charcoal chimney for about half price through the Amazon Warehouse, and it works just fine. I think it must have been returned because the person buying it thought it was too small. For me, it’s just right. I measured out 2 lbs. of lump charcoal, which was recommended for cooking a 16 inch pizza without wasting coals, and that’s pretty much what this chimney holds. I’ve never used a charcoal chimney before, but I put a few pine cones underneath the grid instead of newspaper as my kindling, and I soon had glowing coals in the chimney above. I worried that some of the pieces of the lump charcoal would fall through the grid, so I set it where I planned to dump it and just let any of the small stuff fall through. ... show more

  • Grill lighting made easy
Style: Chimney Only Size: Standard
This Weber Chimney Starter has made lighting my grill so much easier. It lights charcoal quickly and evenly without the need for lighter fluid, which makes the whole process cleaner and safer. I love how the air vents and sturdy design help the coals heat up in no time. The grill is usually ready to go in about 15 minutes or less. The handle stays comfortable and cool to the touch, even when the coals are blazing, and the heat shield gives extra peace of mind. It is built well and feels like it will last for years of summer cookouts. Easy to use, easy to clean, and worth every penny. A a must have for anyone who grills regularly! ... show more

  • Good choice for Lodge Sportsman Grill
Style: Chimney Only Size: Compact
I use this with the Lodge Sportsman Grill. It works well but I wish it were about an inch taller to more easily hold about 6 more coals. The larger chimneys are too wide in diameter to sit flat on the coal grate of the Sportsman Grill. If I am doing a full cook on the grill this is not quite enough coals for my liking. I need to pile the extra few coals above the rim. No biggy but an inch taller would be nice. This is the first time I have used a chimney and I was very impressed how well it started the coals. I will never go back to fluid. Update: I still like this a lot. I still wish it was an inch taller, but it works. I looked at the weber full size chimney, it is massive. Almost as big as my Lodge Sportsman grill. I'll stick with this compact model for this grill. Tip for easy lighting: Tear the newspaper into 1" wide shreds. Even better, run it through an office shredder. It lights way easier since there is better airflow through the shredded paper. Its harder to get the paper to stay in place though. Roll it in a ball, stuff it under the chimney and hold it in place until you set the chimney in place. Tip it slightly and poke your lighter underneath. Don't tip it too much or your paper will fall out. It lights so much easier. Update 2: I bought some Weber starter cubes. So much easier than newspaper and way less smokey. Even brief exposure to the newspaper smoke left me smelling like a campfire. One cube gets this chimney roaring in 10-15 minutes. ... show more

  • Works great, right size

  • Works great!
Style: Chimney Only Size: Compact
Works as advertised. It is pretty small compared to the regular size chimneys but plenty for my 18 inch grill with charcoal insert. Plenty of air flow and has me cooking within about 15 minutes

  • A Grill Master’s Trusty, No‑Frills Charcoal Igniter
Style: Chimney Only Size: Standard
I’ve been using the Weber Rapidfire Chimney Starter for several months now, and it has drastically improved my grilling game. This isn’t just a gadget—it’s a solid piece of grilling gear that gets the coals going quickly and consistently. What Makes It Great: Fast, Even Lighting: Thanks to the cone-shaped grate at the bottom, the coals ignite much more quickly than with other starters. It takes about 10–15 minutes to get a full chimney ready to pour. Weber +2 BBQ Report +2 Durable Build: Made from aluminized steel, this chimney can take real heat and holds up well to repeated use. BBQ Report Smart Handles: The side handle and fold-out helper grip make it safe and steady to pour the hot coals into the grill without risking burns. Walmart.com Good Capacity: It can hold a large amount of charcoal—enough for big grilling sessions or two-zone fires. BBQ Report No Lighter Fluid Needed: You can ditch the chemical-laced lighter fluid. Just load the chimney, light some paper or cubes, and you’re good. Weber Things to Keep in Mind: Rust Over Time: Even though the steel is “aluminized,” a few users mention surface rust forming on the interior or exterior after years of use, especially if stored outside. Reddit Hot Handle Warning: While there is a heat shield, the handle still gets very hot when the chimney is full and blazing—gloves are a must. Weber Weight: It’s heavier than basic plastic starters, so it’s not super portable, but that extra weight comes with durability. Bottom Line: If you’re serious about charcoal grilling, the Weber Rapidfire Chimney Starter is a no-brainer. It’s built tough, lights fast, and helps you avoid lighter fluid altogether. For backyard BBQs or more ambitious grilling sessions, this is a piece of gear that’s absolutely worth the space in your tool kit. ... show more
