I've been using Kingsford since I bought my new Weber kettle grill after using propane for decades. I have tried other charcoal briquettes from Royal Oak, B&B and generic brand at my grocery store. I like Kingsford because it burns evenly and gets started fast. I like these small brickettes and I don't use lump charcoal. It gives me about 2 hours of solid cooking time at 400 plus degree temperatures in my kettle grill. It burns all the way to Ash and is very easy to brush into my kettles receptacle. I have had other brands where the charcoal did not burn all the way through. And you have to pick out those annoying black chunks that won't sweep down the ash catch. ... show more

My six year old had a bad attitude before Christmas. I told her she would get coal if she didn’t behave. They woke up on Christmas morning and her little sister had a cute little Noah’s Ark and she received a bag of charcoal. I was imagining tears, but she looked at me and shrugged, “Oh well, me and [her brother] can throw something on the grill.” She got her Christmas later that day, after she started behaving a little better. I like her ability to appreciate and problem solve. Later in the week we saw someone in the community struggling and they said they had no power and were cooking over an open fire, we gave them a grill and the charcoal and they said it worked well and was easy to light! ... show more
