  • Great Weber Quality in a Fantastic New Color
Color: Copper Style: Grill
When we downsized from our big family home to a townhouse with a small balcony, we gave up our large gas grill but we found we really missed grilling. Since we have always preferred the flavor of foods grilled over charcoal to those cooked on the gas grill, we decided to purchase a new charcoal grill. Having had several Webers in various sizes in the past, this grill was a natural choice. My kids and I chipped in and bought it for my very hard-to-buy-for husband for his November birthday. He was thrilled with the rich copper color which we are using as an accent color throughout our home. The grill was easy to assemble, only taking a few minutes. It is sturdy and has a very “quality” look and feel. Normally it is just the two of us eating but the grilling surface is huge and easily accommodates cooking for a crowd. I think we did 12 burgers and a few hot dogs at once for a family party. We have used it for chicken, grilled veggies, steaks, pork roast, grilled pineapple and more. In fact, I rarely turn on my stove now! Once of our favorite easy meals is to add a few extra topping and extra cheese to a frozen pizza and bake it on the hot grill…much better than take-out pizza and so quick and convenient! Back in the day, the ash catchers on charcoal grills were messy and difficult to empty without getting covered in soot. Not so with the new design which does a better job of containing the ashes and makes clean up a breeze. We oil the grates with a little olive oil spray before cooking making cleaning the grates less of a chore. There are other handy “new” features as well such as the lid handle that does not get hot and hooks for hanging your utensils. Most importantly to us, the grill, even with its huge cooking surface, does not take up a lot of space on our tiny deck (not like a bulky gas grill). We love our Weber Kettle and recommend it to anyone looking for a grill. ... show more

  • Great grill. Beautiful finish. Easy assembly
Color: Copper Style: Grill
Great grill. Beautiful finish. Easy assembly. I owned a Weber years ago and I am very happy to have one again. I currently own a Traeger, and I absolutely love it, but it just doesn't get hot enough to do a steak properly. I had about $150-$200 to spend on a grill. I do not like propane grills. The last charcoal grill that I had sucked. It had a bed for the coals that could be raised or lowered by a mechanism connected to a handle in the front. It then had several bars that connected to the bed to make sure it was level while being moved. It really didn't move but an inch or two up and down, and the linkage broke after a year. It then had a slanted bed for the coals. The plastic wheels disintegrated after a couple of years in the Tucson sun. I saved the (3) cast iron grill grates and used them occasionally on the Traeger and will probably used them on the new Weber here and there too. I got rid of that grill about six months ago and have missed having a charcoal grill since. I remembered having a Weber several years back and left it at a place I used to live at. I cooked a lot of tasty food on that grill. I chose to go with the copper Weber kettle grill because of the quality, functionality and beautiful finish. I saw that the red special edition was for sale for $149 and I paid $165 for this guy. I purchased some of the charcoal baskets for indirect heating but it is just as easy to put the coals to one side and place a pan of water/apple juice in the middle or a brick. The red grill has the mechanism for holding the lid and it is slightly taller but I also heard some comments about problems with the finish. The red and copper grills have the exact same size kettle and cooking area. I was okay with paying a little bit more money because I want this grill to last. I looked at some barrel grills but have read plenty of comments about paint problems with those types of grills. I have the Traeger for smoking and baking, the Weber will mainly be for higher temp cooking. With higher temps being some of the known causes of paint problems in barrel grills, I figured that they wouldn't fit the bill. After considering all factors, this was the best choice and I couldn't be happier. ... show more
