This item is working very well for me. I've been very concerned about the temperature of my new refrigerator because the older thermometer I had kept saying that it was in the '40s even when I had it on the manufacturer's recommended setting and then if I increase the coldness by one notch it was obviously near freezing. Apparently the thermometer I was using before this one was just not that accurate or else it was just so sensitive that as soon as I opened up the door it was over reporting a high temperature. This one gives me a whole lot of peace of mind. I do see that when I have the doors open for several minutes while putting away groceries the temperature is jumping up to about 42 but after I close the door and come back half hour later and hit the reset button and then check it an hour later it's clearly showing me that my fridge is a good temperature. The electrical grid near me has been strained a lot and we've had a lot of power outages and I've lost food. I have so much peace of mind knowing that even if the power goes up for a while I'm going to know the highest temperature it reaches and not have to guess about food safety. This is a very affordable investment and I definitely have already recommended it to all my friends in the area. ... show more

A must to always know if your refrigerator and freezer are at the right temperature. And you can get a new battery when they run down instead of buying a new one. They send a special screwdriver for you.

It didn't seem to work accurately at first but after a day or so it seems ok. I'm not sure because the freezer reader is 2 degrees but my ice cream is a little soft

    • Helped me figure out my freezer temperatures were dropping.

I bought these primarily to monitor my freezer, as I was suspicious when I opened the door to half frozen ice cubes when I filled the tray the night prior. By showing the highest temperature it reached since I put the thermometer in, I was able to figure out the compressor was busted. After getting a replacement I've kept these in my fridge/freezer anyway and they continue to be accurate as far as I can tell. All the buttons work correctly and it's easy to reset the highest/lowest temperature gauge as needed. When I received these in the mail one wasn't working, and one was turned on already. I unscrewed the back of the non-working one and found out the battery had popped out somewhere during shipping, it was an easy enough fix and it worked once the battery was back in place. Bought these to monitor my freezer and refrigerator temperatures as sometimes my freezer acts a little wonky. Worked perfectly out of the box. Keep in mind you have to press the power button to view the temperatures and ranges. If you are going to use it to keep track of fridge temperatures, put it in the fridge for a bit to let it cool down, then clear/reset the ranges so that you have an accurate temperature range. If you don't do that, temp range will include room temperature or package temperature and will offset your range readings.
