The size and connection points duplicate my original unit. However, as I picked up the filter out of the shipping box, it sounded like BB's rolling around inside. Turning the unit upside down, the BB's began their trip back to the other end. The unit is sealed so I can't see what's going on inside but my previous hardware store filters have had no such noise. Works as it should. You dont need the proprietary 3M T fitting for the install. You can purchase the 3/4 T-Fitting and the 3/4MIPx1/2FIP adapter (both brass) for the filter from the big box store. The filter uses 1/2 thread size. Easy install and value for money
