  • Wonderful professional clippers but pet owners must educate themselves first
**IF YOU ARE NOT A PROFESSIONAL GROOMER AND HAVE BOUGHT OR ARE THINKING OF BUYING THIS PRODUCT, PLEASE READ THIS** I am a professional groomer with my own grooming business. I decided I wanted a new main clipper for my work and, after much perusing, chose these. They are incredibly powerful, light weight compared to my other clipper, and leave a beautiful finish with well working blades. Many of the negative reviews unrelated to the cord issue seem to be the result of ignorance on the part of the user. I will explain below. -These are professional grade animal clippers. They are far more powerful than your average run of the mill human clippers and far exceed those clippers you could walk into a pet store and purchase. These are NOT for the inexperienced clipper user and, although powerful, are not going to work as a magic wand if you don’t understand the basics. -These clippers have a high SPM(stroke per minute) on both settings. For general clipping, especially for all over body work, you should be using the 1st speed. The 2nd speed is used to get through thick spots that need a bit more strength. Because of the high SPM, even a freshly sharpened and oiled blade with a smaller comb size(the big metal teeth that don’t move) is going to heat up QUICKLY, especially on the 2nd setting. The amount of friction these clippers can produce through a blade is intense and if you are using the 10 blade that comes with these clippers, it is going to get HOT fast. You need to constantly check the heat of the blade on the inside of your arm. Once it is starting to really warm up, you need to either spray the blade with a blade coolant, switch out to another blade, or take off the blade and place it upside down on a material that will pull the heat off such as a ceramic tile. Regardless of comb size, the blade you are using will get HOT after an amount of time. If you arne’t paying attention to this important part of clipping, you could seriously injure your pet. -These clippers are powerful, but starting immediately on a tightly tangled(matted) coat isn’t always going to work. Most professional groomers are trained to know exactly how to get the blade under these mats and if done improperly, you could slice open skin or the blade will not work through the coat AT ALL(a common issue I see in reviews). You should be working on a freshly bathed and dried coat that has been brushed and combed out prior to clipping. If your dog is matted, I would first suggest having a professional groomer shave your dog to start over. This is due to the fact that it is very easy to injure a matted dog without proper training. We have seen many dogs where the owner has attempted to shave their animal and sliced the skin open in numerous areas. If you are completely opposed to this idea for whatever reason, you can attempt to get under the matting with the 10 blade provided. Pull the skin taught and find a section where the blade can get under. LET THE CLIPPERS DO THE WORK. Do not try to push the clippers faster than they are going as this would result in the blade catching the coat or even pulling skin into it and slicing your animal. There are other methods, but I honestly believe that for the safety of your pet, you should consult a professional groomer or a veterinarian in clipping the heavily matted coat and starting over. -Wahl has some great blades under their competition line with comb teeth capable of really getting under matting. Unless properly trained, I would always suggest purchasing blades with an F at the end of the number. This stands for fine tooth. The other blades(course) can easily pull in skin if you are not properly trained. -As for the issues with the cord: All corded clippers will eventually need their cord replaced due to tension placed on the cord through regular grooming movements. This would especially affect those of us that are professionals and use the clippers daily. I would suggest wrapping the end of the cord that is attached to the clippers with electrical or some other appropriate tape to help brace that area against too much tension. This may help the cord last longer. ... show more

  • Like butter--worth it 100% on fluffy CATS
Color: Pink
I hope this helps you. I didn't get these for free--it's an honest review of life-changing clippers. If you have a large breed cat and a lot of fluff to trim off an impatient cat? Yes, these are your clippers. Worth it. Why I chose these clippers: I have a fluffy CAT with an undercoat that is bunny-fur-soft but dense, kinky-wavy in texture, and it jams up most clippers with each pass. This fur is prone to tangled knots and matting. In appearance, he's like a Norwegian. His father was a Persian, so he inherited that challenging-textured fluff. The outer coat is easy--like a Maine Coon and slick, smooth. He's also 18 pounds. He's a lot of cat to wrangle, if he's not having it. Yes!! These clippers are a dream come true! They go through the thick fur so quickly and easily! I was astonished, truly-- at how well these worked! Not because of doubting Wahl quality, but because of the struggle it's been for 5 years to manage the cat's tangles and avoid them. And, the hard-to-manage bum area. Fluffy cat parents know about this. You're gonna be over the moon when you get these clippers. Sanitary trim in one minute, and kitty didn't try to fight me. You could probably spend slightly longer, but I don't usually get very much time to do that part of the trim before kitty gets mad. He's very happy later on, but not right then. The design of the unit makes the thick fur fall away from the clipper blades, so it never clogs. I mean, the fur really falls away as you are GLIDING the clippers through dense fur--and then when you pull the clippers away from the cat to work on another area, there is NO fur stuck to the clippers, that needs to be removed before you can continue. There is NO tugging whatsoever. I usually have to bribe kitty cat to get him to even tolerate a few minutes of getting a trim. It usually also takes 2 or more weeks to fully trim his body. Normally, we can only do small sections at a time, and he needs a break in between trims. But, he gets special treats as the haircut day bribe, with the treat in one hand while I'm using the clippers with the other hand. (The bribe is Churro or Delectables, in the tube, given only during trims.) No it's not easy, and we both get frustrated, and I occasionally would get bitten when the old clippers tugged. I don't get angry, I stop and apologize and we're done for the day. The point is to associate the trims with happy food moments and to be kind to kitty cat, right? This cat never holds still during the trims. He tries to back away or move out of range, but still eat the treat. In the past, kitty would get tangles in between trimmings, because of the length difference between trimmed and untrimmed fur. One time, he started getting matted in between trims. I swore I'd never let that happen again. But sometimes kitty won't have a trim, and you have to respect that. To be able to trim almost the entire body in literally 7-8 minutes is WOW. I've got to say, I am so grateful to Wahl for these clippers, and I'm so happy that kitty is so happy. The clippers aren't very loud. It took me 5 months to be able to have kitty stay in the room when any clippers were switched on, and another 3 months to have him accept being touched by them. That was over 4 years ago when I started this process. The inexpensive rechargeable clippers I started with were louder than the electric clippers. So, as you go up in price to more powerful motors that can go through the thick fur and not overheat, you gain kitty's trust. When it's easier for kitty, your life is easier. The color isn't pink so much as a more purpley-orchid hue. If you care. I don't--I just wanted clippers that did what we needed them to do. We're not going to a cat show. We are getting through summer months with comfort, and year-round without knots or mats. I am also going to try out longer-length trims with other blades. I learned that the higher the number, the shorter the hair. This clipper comes with a 7F blade, which is longer than the #10 that came with the SS Pro clippers I've bought before these. That's too short for fluffy cats. The comb attachments for that model were stainless steel and it's a high quality clipper, but it wasn't working well enough on kitty's thick fur. This 7F blade is amazing. I might try a different blade so the winter haircut isn't as short. Not that kitty would freeze. His undercoat is very insulating, even when it's under a half inch in length. I hope this helps another frustrated cat parent. This is one purchase that pays for itself and I have discussed this whole issue with the Vet. She approved highly of the whole scenario I've told you about. The safety is most important, and not cutting the cat's very delicate skin is critical. Giving kitty a shave is work--and it's risky. Giving kitty a lightning fast & less traumatic haircut is excellent. So, literally, this is Vet approved and kitty friendly. ... show more

  • Exceptionally light weight, quiet, did not overheat, great for cats, dogs, not for lg heavily coated
Based on a need for the most lightweight professional clipper w/detachable blades, I eliminated a dozen clippers right off, & bought three for comparison w/the intention of keeping a cordless Andis AGR (while it's a solid pound, I had previously owned & been satisfied w/one- it runs smooth, is fairly quiet & is more than powerful enough for a sm animal), & keeping a more lightweight corded clipper, which would run quietly & would not overheat. The corded Andis Excel 5 speed, while it was coated with a black material for easy gripping, wasn't quiet, additionally had a secondary "whirring" noise, & ran hot after a few minutes (while trying out my attachments & not even cutting fur). However, my Wahl Animal KM10 2 Speed is wonderful for grooming my cat, & are the greatest clippers for that purpose, which I've ever owned: they are exceptionally light-weight (3/4lb), & exceptionally quiet for a full body clipper. And while trying out Andis magnetic clipper attachments, these clippers worked best for me on the highest of 2-speeds in order to cut through my cat's moderately thick fur. In the half-hour that I used them, they not only did not overheat they were only warm & became cool quickly, were never hot. They were the quietest of the clippers (meant for full cat or dog body clipping), that I have ever used. While they did not have a non-slip coating to hold them, I am not plowing through a heavily coated coat, someone could buy those gloves which have a grips in the palm such as those gloves w/open fingertips that are used to grip bicycle handles & for sports, if that is a problem for someone. Someone had asked earlier if these could be used on a sheep, NO! The clippers for sheep are labeled heavy duty & the couple that I saw weighed 2lbs (compared to 3/4lb for these): a sheep's coat requires the most powerful of clipper motors, & are clippers which serve a different purpose from these: the motor in these clippers would likely stall, burnout, or somehow break after a few inches of sheep coat. But these clippers are wonderful for long-haired cats because they are so quiet (while cats can be temperamental); these Wahl KM10 2 Speed clippers could certainly handle the fur on a light to medium coated small dog. I do think however that the description of these clippers should be changed to not include horses & other large animals because they are not powerful enough & serve a different purpose: 2lb heavy duty clippers for large animals such as sheep, would be too loud & could be potentially dangerous for a cat & small animal: & would be too heavy for the arms, & wrists of many users- the fact that I believe these clippers are best on a small animal should in no way lessen their rating: they are excellent for what they are designed to do & should be highly recommended for use on cats and dogs. I have not tried the cordless version of these Walh clippers as they are 1.1lbs, they would weigh as much as the Andi Agr, & the battery is not changeable. However, I am wondering if cordless version of this Wahl KM10 2 Speed, would be as quiet as the corded version (& hence a bit quieter than the cordless Andis AGR which is about the same weight as the heavier, cordless Walh). ... show more

  • WAHL KM 10 - HOT, NOISY VIBRATOR IN THE BOX!! NO POWER / NOT WORTH THE $$$$
WORST DISAPPOINTMENT EVER!!! I usually use just simple cheap human clippers for my cats, they are not perfect, but I was able to get the job done in a decent amount of time with decent results. Never actually tried/used professional Pet Clippers before, and was taking my time to do the research before making such an Expensive purchase! Finally, after reading all the positive reviews and comparing prices I decided on this particular model WAHL KM10, since it comes with 5 year warranty, I thought you can't go wrong with that! After reading other reviews I expected a "knife thru butter" effect, quite & effective performance, powerful machine that would be a breeze to use, compared to what I used to. I was WRONG!! My experience with this item was just the opposite - It's NOT QUITE!!! Actually quite NOISY and VIBRATES A LOT!! It's like a Vibrator, not a Hair Clipper. Also, it gets REALLY HOT within 5-10 min.of use. The WORSTt part is, when it comes to actual job, this item has NO CUTTING POWER I expected..It seems that all it does is Vibrates.... I couldn't go thru areas of mats, or even regular cat fur...It takes 5-6 times to to thru the same area to get the job done. WASTE of TIME! and MONEY!!! My cats are used to my old cheap clipper which is very quite, not vibrating, and don't get hot easily, just a little warm. I bought my old clipper at Costco, and the cost was about $20 on sale...Now this Professional Clippers cost 10 times more $$$, but is so much WORSE in many ways...I can't wait to return it! My cats got really scared of this machine, the way it sounds and its vibration, they couldn't come down, the clipper got really HOT... so I could't even finish the job..NOT WORTH IT!!! It may be Ok for those with dogs, but definitely NOT FOR CATS!!! or Persian Cats I should specify...Did I get a Lemon??? I doubt it...IT's just NOT for me!!! But if you want to give it a try and see if it will work for your needs, go head! maybe it will.. Just keep in mind the balance of the $$$$ Price vs. Performance/ Expectations...Why PAY $200+ for Pet Clipper that don't even meet your basic needs?? WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR SUCH MEDIOCRE PERFORMANCE!!! ... show more

  • Wonderful, but still can’t use them right now
I really want to love these. As a professional dog groomer I have used several types of clippers. I really love the weight, feel, noise level, speed, and cut of these clippers. Takes a while for them to get warm and the brushless motor is amazing! This inside of my clippers stay so clean. However, I have been having issues with them from the beginning. First week I had them, a dog kicked them out of my hands and it affected the way the blades cut and they kept overheating. I found out I needed to change my blade drive. It wasn’t an issue, they are $1 so I bought 10 of them and thought everything was fine. I changed it out, very easy and it worked, but the clippers will not stay back together. The screws were incredible difficult to get out and when I tried to put them back in they close and I screw them in as tight as possible but they always pop back out. They’re together but there’s a large crack on either side and I’m worried about hair getting in, etc. I’m going to send them back because they do have a warranty but the only bad thing is the turn around is several weeks. ... show more

  • OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE ON ALL HAIR TYPES & MATS - Tricky Clipper Blade Installment
Wahl Professional Animal KM10 2 Speed Brushless Motor Clipper Kit #9791 I am not a professional however I spent 1 year reading, taking lessons, practicing, failing & finally success. I have a 27 lb Terrier with extremely thick wavy full coated hair that grows like a weed. It is not as like a poodle however definitely thick, smooth and wavy. I read over professional reviews, Top 5 reviews, Best of the Best Reviews and Amazon Reviews and along with my research I went through several Andis and Oyster Clippers which Reviews were way off the mark. I wanted a clipper that could cut through any mat with ease, extremely low noise & vibration due to my buddy's sensibility, does not get hot, and I could change out the blades with ease. Oh… one that did not break down or require In-depth tearing apart & cleaning. After "EXTENSIVE" research and calling the repair facilities they all recommended only one. This one. Out of the box it was extremely simple except for loading the blade. I called Wahl for support on how to load the blades and they were perplexed at my question. They kept trying to explain it even though I am pretty sharp at picking up on mechanical things this evaded me. I kept having to get a screw driver to pop up the little tongue - it would not seat on. I looked everywhere on UTube to no avail. Then my son came over and popped it right on. After watching him several times this is how I will explain it. TO GET THE BLADE ON: " INSERT" the little tongue, a small rectangle blade that points upward in the middle of the clipper --- Insert it “SLIGHTLY INSIDE" The grove on the blade. That is the trick. Do not place it on Top then push down, you must insert it in ---Then press down with some pressure---. It clips on strong so some pressure must be exerted. It will take some practice for those not used to "tight fits". There are times I must pop the tongue out of the clipper and reinsert because it is tricky. The vibration is extremely low on the low setting. The noise is very minimal. My buddy is extremely sensitive and he did not mind this at all. I can even get close to his face. I have not needed to use often on high speed due to the fine job it does on taking out any mat on low. No matter how tangled it will do the job. Initially I worried about not having many speeds but it turned out it was not needed at all. The two speeds will do the job great. It does not get hot or uncomfortable yet. I did purchase the coolant and spray it on even when it is very slightly warm and I bought back up blades and change them out. I would think you must cut 30 - 45 minutes strait without stopping to get it too warm which no one does. You usually have to stop here and there for something. It stays way cooler than my Andis and Oyster that is for sure. The maintenance is a breeze. It has a 5 year warranty however the Fix it Shop said they almost never get these in to fix and I see why. It is all encased and does not have those other components you must get into to clean out, maintain, or oil. There is only one little compartment to use a screw on periodically and when I opened it, there was almost no hair in it to clean and that was after 8 trims. It's just another little "sealed" compartment below the head that can capture hair however you cannot get to the innards as it is sealed. So its the most low maintenance trimmer out there. Very easy to hold in your hand and the cord is long enough and pliable enough it DOES NOT get in your way. I was dreading a wireless trimmer or wired trimmer and I chose this because I would hate if the batteries stopped working. Very happy with that decision. All in all it has to be the very best trimmer out there. I keep it cleaned and oiled and it works every time. The best part is my buddy is not afraid or cowards from it. Now if I could only get him to stand up to finish the job. He constantly sits down on me. He will get on his back for me but will not stay there. Only long enough to get maybe half his underside done and then hes board. ... show more

  • Amazing, Quiet, Fast Horse Clippers
These clippers are absolutely wonderful. When I turned them on for the first time I was stunned at how quiet they are. They make a light whirring sound as opposed to the hedge clipper sound that so many others make. This is important to me because I own an extremely anxious and flighty horse that did. not. want. clippers. She wanted nothing to do with them, on any part of her body, for any reason whatsoever. I had gotten her to the point where I could clip her whiskers with a small, noisy handheld set if I put a stud chain over her nose and was dreading to attempt the full body clip. Since I am in California and we have been having temperatures in the 95-100 range even in October, however, it had to be done. Her winter coat had come in right on schedule with the changing daylight and she was overheating even just standing around. So I did some research, found the KM10s, saw that they were reportedly quiet, and ordered them with my fingers crossed. I was blown away by how quiet they are, and I think my mare was too. I had a syringe full of ace loaded and ready to go (that's a sedative, for you non-horse types :) ) but decided that it would be a last resort. I turned on the KM10s, got some treats, and got to work. Normally my mare would be running backwards as soon as the clippers were turned on anywhere near her (if she was allowed to, of course) but these only roused her interest. After a quick introduction to them by having her touch them with her nose in order to earn a treat, we were in business. I did her whiskers first with no fuss, then moved on to her legs. She ignored me entirely. I ran out of light for the day, but decided that the next day I was going in with guns- er, blades- blazing. Buzzing. You get the picture. The next morning I spent hours clipping the rest of her body, and my crazy mare was totally fine with it. I mean, this horse freaks out if a different horse is getting clipped anywhere in her vicinity, and she stood there like a champ while I buzzed off all of her hair. I was amazed. The clippers themselves would have sold me just because they are so dang quiet and have barely any vibration (and are my favorite color), but they also glide straight through the hair like it's nothing. I was delighted and, once the danger of being flattened like a pancake by my own 1,100 pound mount had been removed, I really enjoyed the process. The result is a perfectly smooth, velvety finish that looks amazingly elegant. It is so nice to have my refined-looking horse back instead of that uncouth yak-like creature that she turns into for a few months out of the year. I would highly recommend these clippers to any fellow horse owners. Even if your horse isn't an idiot about clippers like mine was, the lack of noise and vibration is really nice for us as well! Other clippers are so noisy that my ears are ringing when I turn them off, but these are fabulous. I do think that they are a bit much for anything less than a horse/pony, and since that is their primary purpose they are rather large to be using on most dogs. If, however, you just want really nice clippers for Fido or Fluffy and don't mind the size and price, go for it. I just finished clipping my mare for the second time, since we are still unseasonably warm and she had grown an awful lot of hair back in a short amount of time. She was even better this time and let me do her entire head without any fuss. So if you're on the fence about these, you won't be disappointed. Plus, the blades are only $20 on Amazon (Prime!) so you can easily buy a couple and swap them out as needed. Can't beat that! ... show more

  • Loved them!
Color: Pink
Worked perfectly on my standard sized Goldendoodle and Aussiedoodle. Never got caught in their hair. I’ve tried several other cheaper clippers and they always got clogged with hair or would get stuck and pull hair. These cut smoothly and quickly the entire time. They were very quiet too. The cord was long enough to give me plenty of room to work. I cut both dogs back to back in about 3 hours and the clippers didn’t get hot or burn them. I’m glad I found clippers that make grooming days quicker and easier for both myself and my dogs. Will definitely recommend to all my friends who groom their own dogs. ... show more
