almost 2 years in, after multiple fails of roller blade style casters falling apart and clogging up with hair, these casters are amazing. Nothing is as easy as pulling the bolt out popping off the caps and effortlessly pulling the hair and dirt out. Whole cleaning less than five minutes. If you have long hair, you need these whether you know it or not. In addition the roller blade style makes the chair a little taller, which I do not like. I think this is my first review in over 20 years on amazon.

One of the plastic wheels on my desk chair shattered after less than one month of use on a carpeted floor. I bought these because they looked sturdy and the seller said they would support 1,000 pounds. After seeing the actual wheels, I believe they will support that weight. They look good and well made. Installation was simple; I used a flat blade screwdriver to pop off the old wheels. These slid right in and only needed a bump from my hand to seat them. All five fit perfectly. Then I took my newly rewheeled chair for a test drive around the room. Silent, no creaks or squeaks at all. Easy to travel in a straight line and maintained control through some fast tight turns. Most certainly a superior product and worth the money.

I did the rollerblade wheels twice before, both ended with a broken chair after a few months, those wheels do not hold up, if you sit on the edge of your chair to type or draw or whatever they will ruin your chair. So I went on the hunt for a double rollerblade wheel, I bought the fun looking clear ones and 4 months later I was on the hunt again, those wheels didn't pivot well and I would find myself skipping my chair to move it. Then I found these diamonds! These wheels are the answer and should be the standard for EVERY chair, they pivot on a dime, they are smoother and they make more sense, you have much more of a stable base and no more worries of a single wheel snapping off! BUY THEM, BUY THEM ALL USE THEM FOREVER

Awhile back I replaced my casters with 3" soft ones. They would hesitate to pivot on my hardwood floor and I would have to fight them to get them to change direction. The problem got worse over time. My wife weighs less than I do, and she has less of a problem with them. I finally realized what the problem was. The soft wheel's contact with the floor was larger if the person in the chair is heaver, which made it harder to pivot. The force that causes the pivoting action is proportional to the angle between the vertical axis and the floor contact. (If the axel of the wheels were directly below the pivoting axis, it would never turn at all, and the further to the side the wheel axel is, the more freely the caster will pivot.) The 3" wheels were not offset enough. These casters have 2" wheels and they are dual wheels, which both improve the pivoting force and reduce the friction between the casters and the floor (because while pivoting, the wheels turn in opposite directions, rather than rotating in one spot) to greatly improve their ability to pivot. The bonus feature is the axel is a bolt so that the caster can be disassembled to remove hair or threads that get wound up on the axel. As an engineer, I appreciate the design of these casters.

Sturdy, smooth rolling office chair wheels, that spread load significantly better than what came on my Herman Miller chairs. On hard surfaces, they're smoother and quieter than the stock wheels that come with most office chairs, plus the wider wheels allow use on my short pile (but with a thick, medium firmness pad) carpet, without leaving dents in the pile, like the OEM wheels and some fixed glides, that I tried before these did. ...plus they're cheaper than a medium-duty carpet protector sheet! A version with slightly larger (2½"?) diameter wheels and black finish would be even better, but these are already very functional and well made, so they're perfectly acceptable as-is.

Good quality and smooth roll. Purchased in 2020 and in use the entire time up to this 2024 Update -- Chair wore out (with help from cat) so I cleaned and moved these to the new chair (that came with plastic wheels). I had to thoroughly disassemble and clean but they still work great. So for me they have held up very good. Possible reason they have lasted is that if I sense any drag on one wheel I do clean them. If they begin to drag I could see over a short period that would damage the hole they go in if the chair base is plastic or the top bearing if the chair is metal. I have not found any yet that have completely sealed to make them impervious to blockage so these seem to be the best for me. The photo is from 2024 after 4 years of use and a good cleaning. I am ordering another set of these for a different chair hence the update.

These wheels work OK for a while. But eventually the ball bearings fall out and spew grease. When that happens, you'll have grease stains all over the floor, which is exactly the floor you were trying to protect in the first place. Mine lasted about 3 years before they started spewing grease and destroying my floor. Buyer beware!

I bought these for my dad after one of the wheels broke on his chair. He had some cheap plastic wheels but the chair itself is still in good shape so I figure this would be better than a whole new chair. They fit just fine and they're a little bit shorter than the wheels that were on there which was great because his desk is a little shorter than most I think. They feel very solid with the metal construction and roll decently well on the carpet. Rollerblade style wheels are much smoother on carpet in my experience but these are better than what he had and they seem to be working reat.
