It’s a weird looking little thing that I’ve named June Bug. I was so excited to get it that I ripped open the box and plugged it in immediately. It’s such a refreshing breeze that I can feel very well from 3’ away. I’m really excited about this because, due to allergies to dust, I’ve never been able to enjoy a small fan for very long. So it was very important to me to be able to clean whatever fan I chose. I spent a lot of time researching the “perfect” one. And it’s fun to be able to move it around to adjust the air flow & feel the blades merely tickle your fingers without a worry in the world. Admittedly I did only just receive the fan today, so I can’t testify to longevity, but I couldn’t wait to get on here & say how delighted I am with it! 🙂 It stays put, is quiet, and easily adjusts vertically. ...and then just quietly up and died. I paid $15 for it. I like that blades were made from a cloth-like material so no fear of getting your fingers hurt. Setting the rotation speed between the two positions was easy to do even from the front, due to the cloth-like blades. Sorry to see it go. It feels like it died before its time. Works great when the office gets a little warm in the summer. It's very quiet yet puts out quite the breeze. Blades are made of a fabric so no one is getting hurt from them and small enough to add to a already crowded desk. Very pleased with the purchase. I ordered this to replace an old fan I had which had broken. The Vornado fan came in looking like it had been sitting in a garbage dump outside. The stickers on the power cable had been torn off. There's a loud rattling inside the fan as if something has broken loose. When plugged in and operating, it rattles like crazy because of whatever is loose in there. This is insulting. Update: After returning, the new fan sent has some heat damage from the shipping process since it was sitting outside in the sun for a few hours while I was out. The damage is just cosmetic, with some slight discoloration on the prop hub where one of the cloth blades must have slightly melted or something onto it. The fan itself is far quieter than my old desktop fan (a very loud 4" metal Holm fan), and I appreciate having two speeds. It seems to move more air, but at a lower speed when compared to the old fan. No rattling on this one. I've updated the score to 3 stars (from 1) because the first fan was such a poor experience and I can't let that slide. I'm very happy with the new one. ... show more

Used the fan to keep my baby's crib cool at night. After 8 months of nightly use it refused to turn on. Replaced the fuse and it still didn't work. Motor must have burnt out. Previously had one for years and it worked like a champ until it fell off a counter and broke. Bought this one to replace it. The quality must have gone down since then. UPDATE: I have reached out to customer service regarding their 3 year warranty. They helped me through the process and replaced it for free. The new one has been working great for a month so far. It's small and quiet - as advertised. And I like it comes in a variety of colors. It's not whisper quiet though and gives quite a bit of vibration. In pictures it is next to a 9-inch USB fan. Mine is branded Opolar but there are others exactly the same. As you can see depending on placement the USB one could be more suitable because it's more flat. The USB fan also has two settings and unlike Vornado is truly silent on the first speed and gives much more coverage with a similar airflow on the second speed. It also gives significantly less vibration. So much that I had to place the Vornado onto a speaker foam pad when using on my desk. Vornado is a wall plug, Opolar is USB and needs a wall adapter to use standalone. On the other hand it's more convenient to use USB with computer/laptop or even power bank. Mind there is a big difference between similarly shaped 5in and 9in USB fans. For my use case with a tube amplifier I went with neither (: I've picked Thermaltake 200mm computer case fan and USB to 3-pin adapter. With one inch depth it cannot be slimmer, gives very gentle airflow and does not generate any noise at all. Overall I would recommend Vornado Zippy but alternatives could be more suitable depending on your use case. ... show more
