  • Super fan, but perhaps not for everyone
This fan was a great buy. It's nearly perfect for my own needs, but I'll list its qualities just in case some of them might not work so well for you. It wasn't difficult to assemble. The hardest part was getting the front cage to snap on properly, but even that only took a few tries. And since the cage just hooks together rather than needing screws, popping it off to clean the blade will be a breeze. (Although, there's not much of a hook to those hooks, so I don't plan to pop the cage off any more than I absolutely have to. If those hooks wear down or break, then that's that.) Also, all you need to put it together is your own two hands. No tools needed. It's very powerful. It moves a great deal of air, even on low (I haven't gone past medium yet; I'm afraid it might blow the cat across the room on high!), which is a relief. For two weeks when my A/C was out, I needed a fan that could cool me off even though the air it was moving was hot and humid. This fan blows with such force that even warm air movement is refreshing. And its force means you can set it at a fair distance and still feel it, but it's also strong enough to blow papers and stuff around if they're in the fan's path, even when they aren't particularly close to it. The oscillator has a wide swing to it, about 90 degrees, which I suppose could either be a negative or a positive. If you want it to swing but still stay relatively contained at a small angle, you may not care for this. On the other hand, it's perfect when you have a small area of cool air (like a new portable a/c with a fairly puny blower) and want to distribute it far and wide. The cord is fairly short—rather shorter than I would've liked, honestly. I didn't measure it, but I'd guess it to be maybe 6 feet. That could be a problem if you want to use it in a place without an outlet handy, but a cheap extension cord solved that problem for me. (Incidentally, there is no grounding prong on the plug, so you can use a 2-hole extension cord if necessary.) The pole has a decent amount of extension to it; I'd say you can adjust the height by about a foot and a half. At its tallest, from base to motor is (again, this is an estimate) probably 4-1/2 feet. This makes it pretty versatile; you can stand it on the floor or shorten it and put it on a (large) table. At full length, though, that also makes it a bit top-heavy. It's fine if you leave it alone, but the cat knocked it over when I first put it together and now he's scared of it. It's loud. Even on low it's pretty loud, compared to what I remember my last box fan sounding like. It doesn't bother me at all, but if you're someone looking for a fan for your bedroom, and you need quiet to sleep, you probably won't like this. Seriously, I have a hard time imagining a fan with this small a footprint with as much power as this one has. I wish the cord were a bit longer, like I said, but that's really my only complaint. When the air conditioner died, it was a real lifesaver! ... show more

  • Good Fan - Good price.
I bought this fan to replace a fan that died after many, many years; it speaks to its durability. It served me so well that I bought the same fan again. The fan is a little noisy, but no more than any fan I've had in the same price range. It doesn't wake me up or keep me awake. As you turn the level down, it gets quieter and quieter. It is set at the height I want it to be, and it doesn't slide down. It blows strongly and keeps me cool. I seldom have to turn on the air conditioner, and that saves a lot of money. I've had this fan for about three months now, and it is performing as well as the previous fan. I'm sure it will last at least as long as the previous fan. I don't have a remote control and I don't need one. ... show more

  • Fantastic fan for the money.
It’s loud but that’s why we got it, to help drown out noise while we sleep. It does a great job pushing air and it’s got adjustable height. My only concern when I got it was that a lot of parts were made of cheap plastic. That does make it lighter when moving it around but understand the durability is heavily compromised because of this. I’m writing this review after exactly 2 years of heavy use each day. Today the fan broke. First the large plastic nut that screws the fan blade in stripped out, then the housing for what holds the fan blades in place completely broke apart. It can no longer spin without these parts in tact. Honestly with the amount of hours we’ve used this, $40 is money well spent. If you don’t run the fan for 18 hours a day for 2 years straight, it’ll probably last much longer. None of my “nicer” $80 fans lasted much longer either, so that being said, I’ll be ordering another one just like this, because up until now, it hasn’t had one single issue. ... show more

  • Solid fan that actually does everything I need Solid fan that actually does everything I need
This fan was a great buy for me. It’s pretty much perfect for my needs, but I’ll break it down in case some of it matters for you. Assembly wasn’t bad. I had a little struggle getting the front grill on, but I was also distracted at the time. No tools needed, everything comes in the box, and once it’s together it feels snug and doesn’t feel cheap even though it’s all plastic. One thing I'm not quite sure on is disasembly when the fan blade inevitably starts getting dust on it. I hated taking my box fan apart with that, but this hopefully wouldn't be too bad. Power-wise, it works great. I basically live on speed 1 since it sits close to my desk, and even then I can feel airflow across the room. If I move about 10 feet away into the living room I still feel it. I’ve only used speed 2 a couple times and it’s more than enough. I can easily move papers from 10-20 feet away on the second speed. I’ve never even needed speed 3. The oscillation feature is actually useful, not just something you ignore. I use it a lot when I don’t want constant airflow but still want the room to stay moving air-wise. The sweep is roughly 90 degrees and does a good job of covering a wide area. The tilt adjustment is another thing I use more than expected. it goes from straight ahead all the way up to pointing straight up. In winter I’ll angle it upward just to circulate air instead of blowing directly on me. It helps even out temps in the room, especially with cold air settling near the floor on laminate flooring. You can also combine tilt and oscillation to spread airflow without sitting in a direct blast. Another fun thing I'll use the tilt for is aiming it straight up and puting stuff on it to dry. Couldn't do that with my old fox fan too well as it would rub against the fan motor, but I'm not finding that I have that problem here with the curved face. You can even combine tilt and oscillation to cover an even wider area and prevent the fan from blowing directly on you if needed. This really comes in handy with that laminate flooring but yet it's 10-20 degrees outside. Keeps that heat very well distributed preventing cold spots in the house. Height adjustment is straightforward. Lowest setting puts it around 2.5 feet from floor to motor, fully extended is about 4.5 feet. That range makes it easy to adjust depending on whether I’m at my desk or just trying to move air around the room. To adjust there is a little rotation thing that squeezes around the pole. Fairly large and easy enough to grip. Cord is about 6 feet. It works, but I do wish it was longer so I could tuck it away better or have more placement options. Not a dealbreaker, just something I noticed when moving it around. Controls. It's simple as can be. You have a spin dial for controlling speed, and then a little pull knobby thing that turns on/off the oscillation. Noise is good. I work from home with my main job as "call center". On speed 1 it’s quiet enough that nobody hears it, even if it’s pointed right at me. Speed 2 is a bit more noticeable for me but still not enough to interfere with calls or hearing people clearly. The other end still has no idea I have a fan going in the room which is nice. I haven’t really used speed 3. Compared to old box fans and especially metal shop fans, this one is much quieter. Overall: Simple, reliable, and works exactly how a fan should. If you just want something that moves air well and doesn’t get in the way, this is a solid pick. ... show more

  • A good fan.
Does the job well. Easy to assemble and move around as needed. Oscillates as it should, powerful enough to help cool your space down. The price point is really reasonable. Definitely would purchase again when I need another fan

  • Cheaply made these days
If you're buying this fan and have owned Alaska before then be ready for a cheaper model of what you owned four or five years ago because I just ordered one to replace my other one from 2020 that just died on me and not only did the front part of the fan not stay on, you know the part that stops your hand from getting hurt by the blade, but they tweaked the motor to where it's not as loud anymore either so if you're buying this to sleep with it it still does the job but not like the old one did they have designed this with cheaper materials and they're charging more for it now so.... Yay!!! If I didn't have my old fan still so I could use the I guess you would call it fan covers the back and front part then I would have had to send this back. I decided to keep it cuz I figured everything that you're going to get nowadays is basically junk and I'm going to have to buy another one probably in a year anyway so I just kept it. ... show more

  • strong airflow and easy to adjust
This pedestal fan has been such a reliable addition to my home. The airflow is strong even on the lowest setting, and the oscillation helps cool the whole room evenly. I really like that you can adjust both the height and the tilt of the fan, it makes it easy to get the air moving exactly where you need it. Assembly was simple and took just a few minutes. The base feels sturdy and balanced, so it doesn’t wobble or make too much noise when it’s running. It’s lightweight enough to move from room to room, which I do often during the summer. Durability-wise, it’s held up well even after regular use. The black finish looks sleek and doesn’t collect dust as easily as I expected. It’s not silent, but the sound is more of a soft hum, perfect for background noise at night. ... show more

  • QUIET & COOLING!
So I’ve had a GAJILLION Fans over the years and I must say THIS One is by far my Favourite! Easy to assemble & Even on High it is Soooo Quiet! The span it covers is wide, it has 5 blades that really cool the room! Yes it’s plastic but I’ve had the heavy ones & they are most difficult to move to another room. I use fans year round even though I live in a cold winter climate...Yes, Still having MAD Hotflashes…Ugh! Great for “White Noise” cuz I can’t sleep without that feature! I’m sooo happy I bought TWO so I keep one in the living room & one in Bedroom. There are Three settings & again, even on highest setting it’s still quiet! I highly recommend this Fan! ... show more
