Circulates the air well, it’s nice being toasty warm!
For my small and medium-sized rooms during Polar Vortex weather when the central heating failed, this heater is noticeably better at keeping a room warm; no frills, but seems more effective than the prettier space heaters at 1500 watts. Takes a little while to get working — maybe half an hour. It was a wonderful feeling, stepping into a toasty bedroom once this got working! Nothing really worked for a 40 ft room when the central heating failed, but this heater would probably do OK in a regular winter. This heater circulates the air throughout a room. I did not find it as effective in my high-ceiling basement when pipes started to freeze, compared to a more intensely focused blast of heat from a Milk House heater. However, my basement is large and drafty. In a better sealed space it might do better. It comes with a warning for hyperthermia — I can imagine that it could overheat a smaller room! As always, be careful using space heaters. I still think this is an excellent space heater. NOTE: this is a big drafty house occupied by cranky old people and little dogs. We LIKE being toasty warm. Also have multiple household thermometers connected to an app in a smartphone for easy monitoring.

Heats quickly. Safe: Metal cabinet and carrying handle never get hot.
I particularly like the metal cabinet with its durable finish, and the heavy duty power cord. The power and heat control knobs are well made. It is not heavy. It is easy to move around because the handle and cabinet do not get hot with use; only the front near the center of the blower gets hot. I find the unit quiet enough to run while watching televsion even with the space heater sitting a few feet away from the TV. The space heater heats up quickly and warms a whole room surprisingly quickly given its relatively small size. I can observe a thermometer 10 feet away rise several degrees within a few minutes of turning on the space heater. The shape and height make this unit almost impossible to knock over. But if it does tip over, it automatically turns off.

Big disappointment.
I purchased this at the end of Dec 2025. I have to say it's been a disapointment. Even after 3 months the smell still persists, and it's an all metal heater. The smaller, plastic-digital one I bought before this one doesn't surprise me that it still smells like plastic. Mind you, I dropped nearly 200 bucks on these Vornado heaters. I had higher hopes for this one but I can tell you, it might heat a large room, but it will take a while, it's not that it probably doesn't get hot enough, but the fan sucks. it's the same speed on high as it is on low, which is--slow! From all I've heard about the Vornado fans you wyoould think this thing would push some air, but it doesn't. I have an oscillating talbe fan that pushed more air than this. And that's what will cost you--the weak fan, because it wouild take you hours to heat a large room. I can heat a room quicker with one of those oil-filled radiators. So I think I will go back to using a couple of those because these Vornado space heaters are lame. I could have had a De'Longhi Dragon for what I paid for these pieces of junk.

Perfect
So the Amazon product description is not accurate. There is no digital readout or remote. Yes and its still VMHi no different than VMH. Find out HMH300 is no longer made. Digital with remote is on the MMHi600. But this is what I wanted as the other Vornado fans I have are digital and cannot work using a smart switch. This one does. Like the others the fan is constant, quiet and so very productive. if you are looing for a fan that has a variable fan that Blows hot air, this is not it. This unit circulates the air continuously and the heat stays on so long as it has not sensed the temp setting you have set. I love these whole room heaters. Yes for sure I recommend this unit

Vornado warranty messy, heater works well overall unless something fails. Mine worked for 2 years.
It's a good heater for a medium size room. The internal fan failed in mine after 2 years and I'm trying to get vornado to honor the 5 year warranty it applies to the product. This is challenging. Vornado does not have a functioning call center on the weekends so the call will hang up automatically after recommending the website and spelling vornado veeeerrrrryyyy slowly. The website has an AI sticker so be warned as you should be for any website boasting an AI sticker. AI on a website is just a recipe for 'we fired people and now nothing will work but we have so much money we don't care at all about you as a customer.' Looking at you, Rufus. I registered the product then refreshed to apply for a claim but the claim tab pop-up then asks you to register for an account (which is frustrating, as the upper right corner of the page shows I am "logged in"). So, it commits you to an endless loop with no option to speak to a human who can break that loop. Don't try to file a warranty claim on the weekend is the lesson so far. If I have weekday time during their business hours, I will try again and update if I have information. Update: customer service line easy to use during weekday working hours. claims process easy to manage if you have a smartphone. We will see about the next steps. review upgraded from 3 to 4 stars.

I love these heaters so much that I have now purchased a third! They are lightweight and small, and they get the room warm! They were a recommendation from a friend a couple of years ago after a Texas freeze froze one of the pipes in my house. He bought two for his house a few winters before me for the same reason. well....things have changed, and this is important for you to know.... the two heaters that I bought the year before (November 2024) both stopped working around a week from each other today. So, not sure about how long that third one will last, as of now, two out of three gave me exactly one year and two months before they stopped functioning. Won't be buying these heaters again. Too bad, I was really liking them.

Really bad burning smell that would not go away
I so wanted to love this heater. Everything about it when pulling it out of the box yelled quality. The metal case, the slot for the power cord in the back, the controls, etc. Unfortunately, the “new heater smell” on high or low was just too much for us. We expected it to last for about 15-20 minutes but after 6-8 hours of use over the first 24 hours, it was still there and in our small 28’ Airstream, it was tough to deal with. It has been returned.

So far it's doing the job quite well
We purchased this for our RV when our old heater suddenly bit the dust. So far it's done the job. It's fairly quiet, not as noisy as the old one. It doesn't weigh too much - important when you're full-time and every pound counts! It seems to heat the room quite well. The on/off control could be better marked or placed - it's hard to see if you're on the high or low setting, since there's not much contrast, and since we keep it on the floor you have to get on your knees to see it. Also, the temperature knob only has small to large circles, so it's your guess as to what dot will give you the room temperature you're looking for. We find on the lowest setting it keeps the RV warm enough for sleeping (in the 60s). It cost less than the old one costs now, and only time will tell if it's a good value for the money. Vornado is a well-known brand, so we're hopeful it will last longer than the other one, which made it about 5 years. I do really like the way the cord stores in the back compartment, makes it easy to put way. And the cube shape means it's very stable, no worries about it tipping over - although it does shut off when you tip it, like we do to read the knob settings.
