Anyone who has outdoor cats knows that a big challenge is keeping wild critters from being attracted to the cat food, while still providing the cats with multiple small meals a day. This feeder solves the problem perfectly. I adjust it to offer just enough kibble that the cats eat it up without leftovers to attract wild critters, several times a day. I was worried at first that the sound of the dispenser would scare the cats, but it is a pretty gentle, non threatening noise. My cats don't mind it one bit. In fact, they come running when they hear it. I like that you can easily adjust the amount of food that comes out so that you can increase the volume when the weather gets colder and their calorie needs increase. The storage capacity is perfect for two cats, I'm not constantly having to refill it. Each cat gets their own bowl with it's own food supply, so no fighting. There is a cute voice recording feature that you can use to call the cats in for mealtimes. I ended up turning that off though since the sound of the kibble falling into the bowl is enough to get the kitties running. This would also work well for feeding cats while you are on vacation, the batteries are very long lasting and I haven't noticed any issues with the kibble failing to be dispensed unless the batteries were dead or the storage tank runs out. The storage tank has a cat proof lid so that they can't just bypass the timer and gorge themselves. This was a good investment, I have no complaints.

At first my cats were scared by the noise -- it is very loud -- but now they run like Pavlov's dogs. I accidentally pushed the record button, but didn't record anything, so instead it made an unintelligible, horrible squawking noise -- three times, including a long time after the food was already dispensed (a real head scratcher). The cats hated that and there's no instruction how to turn it off. I finally managed to do so, but the experience was decidedly unpleasant for all of us. The icons are miniscule, so you have to pick it up to set anything; it's impossible to see what you're doing if it's on the floor. The portion size is laughable. The settings are 1 through 4. For two small cats (each 10 lbs), I set it to 4, and programmed it to dispense four times (the max), back to back in the morning and in the evening, and they are maintaining their weight, and I still augment with a 5-ounce can of wet food split for the both of them, but that's only because they've trained me. (When I just left a full bowl down so they could graze, they both got chubby.) If I had big cats like Maine Coons, it probably wouldn't be enough food. Despite the shortcomings, I gave it four stars because it works great, I can see the volume in the reservoir, the bowls are removable for cleaning, and it's good value for the money. If I could wave a magic wand, I'd figure out how to put the controls on the TOP, I'd increase the portion size and decrease the sound, I'd get rid of the tinny, gimmicky record feature, and I'd made the reservoir bigger. Despite all that, I'd still buy it again.

Mine works well. I read that cats in the wild eat several times a day so I wanted an easy way to give my babies that experience. I have mine set so they eat 4 times a day. You can give them different servings at different times. It's also nice because I have it set for early morning so they don't wake me up to feed them. It also eliminates any stress around eating because they know exactly when their food is coming. There's some kind of recording thing but I've never used it. The clanking of the kibble on the steel bowls let's them know the food is coming and they go running. It's also great for when I have to go places - I never have to worry about their food situation. There is even a battery in case the power goes out. It's also nice for if you have to move the feeder- you can unplug it and it stays programmed. I've had mine for over 4 months now without any issues.

Purchased this in July. It lasted six months. Unfortunately failed while we were out of town. Least three cats with no food, so they are smart cats and knew if they got the lid off somehow they could get to the food. I have tried everything in hopes the failure was the cord, its definitely the entire unit. Based on this very scarey scenario, I would not recommend this product, EVER TO ANYONE! If one of my cats had passed, I would make sure Not One More of these WOULD SELL AGAIN. 6 months is not long enough for ANY TYPE OF FAILURE THAT AN ANIMAL DEPENDS ON EVERY SINGLE DAY. BEWARE AND FIND ONE WITH ALL 5- STARS. NOTHING BUT THE BEST FOR MY RESCUED CATS THAT WERE ABUSED, ABANDONED, LEFT IN A PLASTIC CONTAINER, TAPED SHUT IN JULY..IT WAS THE WORST THING I'VE EVER WITNESSED. 9 KITTENS-COVERED IN FECES,STARVING, AND OVERHEATED. 2 PASSED AND WE SAVED THE OTHER 7. ONE IS WITH US, SHE'S NOT ADOPTABLE DUE TO HER DEADLY DISEASES SO WE LOVE HER & PRAY GET HER FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. EATING IS HER NUMBER ONE WAY TO KEEP HER ALIVE AND NOT CAUSE HER TO DISEASES TO BE ACTIVATED AGAIN. SO PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE UNTIL THEY CAN ENSURE VOLUAS CAN ENSURE THAT THEIR PRODUCTS LAST LONGER THAT 6 MONTHS. I HAVE DOG AUTO FEEDERS THAT ARE OVER 5 YEARS OLD. NO EXCUSES FOR THE FAILURE OF THIS EXPENSIVE PRODUCT.

We purchased this when we were going to be away for the weekend and didn't want to get a catsitter. One of our cats will eat whatever's available, so just leaving food out isn't an option. Setup is pretty easy. The cats very quickly learned to react to the sound of food being released (you don't really want a cat to be sitting on you when the dinner bell rings) and we have this set up to feed them twice a day, so all we need to do is refill it occasionally. Our main issue has been that one of our cats is a lot greedier than the other, so we ended up just programming this for her and feeding the other cat separately when the first one isn't around, but I can hardly blame the machine for that. The food will always be evenly divided between two bowls, but this is explicitly meant for two cats. Overall, no complaints.

This works out great for my two cats. Very quiet and only noise is food falling into dish. Kinda nice because its like the dinner bell and cats come running. MlI like it so much I may look to see if they have something larger for my dog
